Well from what I understand the number advertised is the number you get before taxes if you choose the amortized payout instead of the lump sum. In other words, what you are actually winning is about half of the current value (before taxes ) of whatever is being advertised. Irs will still get their cut regardless of which payout you choose 😂🤣

@@oachilis getting the lump sum only makes sense because of the potential of investing it and taking advantage of the time value of money and compounding interest rate. In a perfect world, you would do better investing that money in the money market yourself. However, if you aren’t sure of how to invest it, you may want to take the amortized payout so you minimize the risk of losing all your money quickly. Either way, *you will still pay irs* .
