    Maybe way too late since you might already have decided: but I really like the STM32 series of micros. The AVRs on Arduinos feel so limited hardware wise in comparison. But I still got a lot to learn about the STM32 and a project like this would really help understand more of it. It is true that it is not as easy to start out with as an Arduino is, because even with the core libraries provided (CMSIS, standard peripheral library) you are much more down to the metal and need to know the workings of the STM32. Arduino hides all that from you (and, due to the very limited features of the AVR, is much simpler to begin with).

      Yeah I agree.. I like the STM32s very much! Their style of doing documentation sucks though, but when you get used to it, it's ok I guess :)
      However, seems like most people would like the Arduino :)

    I have a feeling this whole voltage loop followed by current loop will result in bad overall transient response. During current limiting, your voltage loop opamp will most likely saturate leading to over/undershoot once the current limit is lifted.

      It might.. But it's just a demonstration of the theory anyway. We will end up with a single power transistor in the end. There is also another fundamental issue with this circuit :)

    What about using an esp8266 or esp32 board? You could do data logging and it would be isolated from the PC. Which reminds me, what isolation issues might you have with a USB interface? It would be nice to have PC control and logging.

      Not really thinking of going wireless, sorry :) A USB interface could be nice. don't know if I will make it though.
      Regarding the isolation, it is mostly a safety factor. If something goes wrong, the computer is protected. But also the other way round, if your computer sends out 240v on the USB for some reason, it does not fry your equipment. Another factor is noise pickup. If the USB cable is electrically connected to your circuit, it will act as an antenna and pick up noise :) By adding optical isolators, you solve both problems :)

    Use 16*2 LCD or 16*4 LCD. Because it is very Common and use standard key pad .

    Why you don't use a Teensy 3.2? It's cheaper and more powerful then the Arduino Due and you can program it with the Arduino IDE with all the Arduino compatible libraries!

    regarding the oscillations: i dont see any loop compensation capacitors?

      Yup! They do magic, my PS had poor load regulation - I set 12.0V and when I connect the load it sags to 10.8V. 180pF between inverting input and output of the error amplifier and now the voltage is solid like a rock :)

    what is the highest frequency own a arduino or teensy can generate? I was told around 400Hz. is this true? that is what I was planning to use for my inverter. also I have heard paralleling MOSFETs can be tricky sometimes. how would you do this. I will need to switch between 150&350 amps @24v. your input on this project would be great. thanks

      I would say for a software generated square wave you can get at least 1 Mhz. PWM is 32 Khz as far as I remember.

    I just came across your channel. while researching how to build a inverter. I need to build a power inverter to power my home. can you give any advice?

      If you plan to run it unattended, my best advise would be be to buy one ;)
      I know it's not what you are looking for, but I think it's simply too dangerous to make such stuff yourself if you are not 110% sure what you are doing, especially from a recipe found on the internet :) Sorry to disappoint you :)

      Yes, it's still fine :) I haven't noticed any significant drop in power. Might have dropped a few % without me noticing it. Hard to tell :D

      Yes you can, no mod needed, just don't overdrive it aka remember your output wattage.
