  • The ASE A7 test will ask you a few questions about the cooling system. You will need to know how to test the coolant for electrolysis and how to determine the concentration of the coolant. Tools shown are a hydrometer and how to use a refractometer. How to test a radiator cap is also shown.

Update Oct 15, 2023: (Feedback after taking the test) A couple of questions about the thermostat and how it affects the heater operation.
No questions about coolant when it comes to using a hydrometer, refractometer, or test strips.
No questions about electrolysis or testing for it.
The info from 4:10 to 4:52 is good to know, saw a couple of questions relating to it.
The question at 5:43 is near close to an actual question on the test, only difference is that the cooling fan is not an answer choice. Had completely different answer choices. Basically what else can cause that?
OVERALL TEST REVIEW: Knowing the info presented in this miniseries can help you answer about 25 of the 60 questions. The test was harder than I expected and questioned you on stuff I did not think was going to be on the test (i.e. do you know what an "air quality sensor" is?)
I could have made videos on blower motor info, automatic temperature systems, dual temperature control systems, and blend door/mode door/ recirc&fresh air doors. Those were another big part of the test. My score was 43 out of 50. (10 questions are not graded, but we don't know which ones). Test time limit is 1 hour 15 minutes.

Thanks for this series of videos, it’s much easier to learn when you see an actual vehicle, not just test question

I’ve never had any benefits of being ase certified when it comes to pay so I’ve never tested at one time my dad had all his ase certs and that’s who taught me how to work on cars and I’ve been doing this for over 25 years. I now want ase certifications just to say I have them do you think I should take some of the easy ones without studying just to see how I do although I do have a couple of the books like breaks,a/c and cooling I could look through again before going or would you recommend spending some time going through the books

      Go to www.ase.com/uploads/ASE_Automobile_Study_Guide_2023.pdf
this outlines what can be on the test and gives about 10 sample questions for each test. I recommend taking a few practice tests that can be found for free online. freeasestudyguides .com
      and tests .com.
My starting point was the A6, Automotive electrical, because every ASE will have wiring diagrams and electrical questions.

@@OldSchoolNoe thanks I’m gonna check it out now. Electrical diag is probably one of my favorite things to do on automobiles. If you know what you’re looking at it can save a ot of time during repair so I will also look into A6 as one of my first test to schedule
