I'm a GB collector so I don't know a lot about US stamps. The passion is the same, fill those gaps and take pleasure in your collection.

Beautiful collection of early US. I was wondering if you knew that a few stamps at 6:44; 8:06; and 9:06 had special vending machine perforations made by the Schermack Company. Type III perforations by this company consisted of two rectangles on one or two sides of each stamp. Some of the Washington - Franklin stamps were purposely left imperforated so that vending and affixing machine companies could make coils from these imperf sheets and apply their own perforations to fit their machines. The Schermack Company is one of these companies and the special perforations are listed in the US Scott Specialized Catalog.

Wonderful collection. You are correct, that blue paper identification is tough and even the best experts can misidentify those. It would not be so bad except the value difference could be in the thousands. Besides the perforations, watermarks, secret marks and frame sizes, which although and be tricky, are for the most part doable by novice collectors. Two items that are trickier are grill identification which is not a problem if your stamp is either grill or no-grill but if there are multiple grill possibilities then possibly very tricky. Another serious problem in identification is color, exposure to light can change the color and a heavy hand with the ink weight used by the press man could give a collector an imposter. A good collector can also explore other less conventional identification methods, like noticing a unique cancelation perhaps used by only one city giving a date to compare, or a le.tter with a ships postmark known to have gone down before a new variation, like wise if the stamp was sent from a post office that was closed down before another variation was printed. One can be very creative in researching where others may give up

Very nice stamps collection. Will you do a video about German post cards and stamps anymore soon. It's new to me in this hobby. The German post cards,I brought it at the swap meet not long ago. I don't know how old these post cards. If you could help too identify it, I really appreciate it.

sir. thank you for all your tips and help that you have given in getting to answers that we wanted to knowand some that were of a big help to us , your viewers.
i really would like if you could ppssibly tell me if i have a valuable canadian stamp becoz this stAmps are actually with errors i.e. the queen elizabeth green12 1/cent sstamp which the one that i have is slightly lighter coloured like lime green if that is the right term for it though ii could have been missed the last step of coloring.
the second one is another error stamp queen elizabeth with a building beside her and it is rectangular where the 8 cent should be is instead stamped with a '0' becoz if you see clearly or with magnification only half of the digit 8 the half below is seen and the top you can see the other half is not inked probably while in the processof being printed.. sorry for long winded letter.did not know how to explain in short thanks.

Nice you have a much better selection of old stamps than me. I have been working to complete the Nebr. and Kans. overprints but fear they are very easy to fake so I only buy used ones that seem like the real thing and cheap. Any one with a typewriter can type the over print over the common stamps. Any thoughts or how to know what is real or not.

That's a very nice collection of USA stamps...Have you got into the postal history that goes with them or isn't this your kind of thing? (Some folk postal history grabs, some it doesn't, and with others still, it gets them eventually!)

@@mallardstamps Yeah that'd do it...as a GB Collector, I got hooked into pre 1840 covers, gradually getting earlier...then got curious about the Rocket Post experiments in the 1930s...also Zeppelin mail, and then Crash Mail...and so it goes on...oh hell it can be so addictive and if you're not careful, so expensive too!
Lately I try to research stuff I've already got in the collection for other reasons, (postcards, covers etc) to see what history they or the senders/recipients might have...this works better for my wallet!

Loved my collection in 1987 which I gave to. My son when I went abroad
He used as collateral for a bank loan for his college education that’s paid off
Mostly USA mint unhinged full commerativesw abd mostly superbly maintained without hinge + UN sheets
Total sale price in NYC 44K $ to the bank
What would it have been worth today? Approx in superb condition?
