- A farewell to Golden Mane/Pretty Boy/3 Tooth of the mighty Majingilane coalition. Around March this year, he was reportedly injured by a buffalo while hunting and had not been seen many weeks since then. It is believed he died from the injury. He's about 13+ years old.
How the Majingilane reign came to an end:
With no coalition actively having forced these male out, it seems like age has finally caught up with them. After 8 years of dominion over much of the Sabi Sands, and having ousted and then warded off numerous other coalitions, the only adversary for which they (Majingilane) had no defence, was time.

He takes your breath away, what a magnificent lion. Thank you for putting this together. Sad he had to pass. Better that he was, than not at all. So many never get the chance to sit on top, defend what is theirs, and watch their flesh and blood grow to maturity. That is much more sad. It's better to celebrate him than mourn. He achieved what very few can. Job well done!
He was a gorgeous male, great brother and father. He spent a lot of time with the Mhangeni pride in his last year but was always there when his brothers needed him.

Great father who was so friendly with cubs never roared at them. Great brother who fought hard for them. The one who broke the backbone of the legend kinky tail. He was truly the most magnifiiant beast

@@siginoommenalex1853 how do you know ? Young lions will surely run away from Prime Pride lions even if it's a 7 vs 2, look at 7 Nukulus running away from only 2 Southern Avocas, look at 5 young Mapogos running away from 2 Split Rock males Scar and Tyson.
@@siginoommenalex1853 Majingilanes were only like 3.5 to 4 years at the time they killed Kinky Tail, compare them in their primes from 2012 to mid 2016 and it would've been much different. All Majingilanes have a size advantage of any of the Mapogos, Selatis or Birminghams, how easy would it be for Kinky Tail to win against a lion who's considerably larger than even Dreadlocks ?
Mr T would often get outmuscled by even Rasta and Pretty Boy (heck forget wondering about outmuscling Dreadlocks) even though he was taller than both of them, T was almost the same in height as Makulu but he weighed lesser than Rasta and PB. Now imagine Kinky Tail against a lion who was much taller and larger than he is.
@@peanuts6523 l do not think majingilanes larger than dreadlocks.kt and t were the smallest in mapogo compared to other brothers.most of the time in their life majingilanes do not go for a single fight or 1 vs 2 or 2 vs 1.they always go for 4 vs 1.so sucess is always their side.any other lions coalition had more members they also gain sucess.2 mapogos vs 4majingilanes. .sucess is always in mapogos side.there is no video or proof showing the begining of kt vs 4 majingilanes .selatis also killed Mr t in a fight 4 vs 1.one more thing if majingilanes stronger than mapogos y they came and rescue their brother from mlowathis. Definitely one of the toughest. He conquered many obstacles with 3 fangs instead of 4. Thats like driving with only 3 tires.

Dark mane and scar nose treated him like thrash in the early days ! He was as loyal as a guard dog but he didn't get the respect he deserved from his own family members !! Glad that the two assholes, Dark mane and scar nose died right after Golden mane was gone.

Rasta had to wait for Maks retirement before having a fair chance for mating. That loyal guard dog you described could be Pretty Boy. Mr T and Kinky Tail, these two literally left their home because they couldn't even be that loyal guard dog. 😂

Wao wao wao. What a gorgeous beast he was. He was truly the most handsome lion I have ever seen.
Sabi Sand won’t be the same without these old glorious coalitions of Majingilane, Mapogo, also Selati and Matimba. Everyone of them came in like a thunderbolt with an unbreakable intent of conquering a territory. For years their pugnacity created an intense competition in the reserve, you never knew who would make a step and who would react in return. Who would survive and who would die. Their countless altercations and fights made them memorable. The current lions that settled there seem to be much more relaxed and gentle, it feels almost boring. The Birminghams took pride after pride without the need of fighting a single pride male lion, till now their story isn’t almost worth to be told. The three Avocas ran away after meeting two Birminghams, fled into the Kruger and weren’t seen again. I’m looking forward to the day when new young coalitions will invade SS with the same determination the Majingilane had when they started their triumphal march without making a backtrack so the big game for territorials will start again.
isn't it? Briminghams seem to be the coalition who is always photographed with the ladies, or glamour shots, hardly any challenges, unlike all the coalitions before them that are brothers in blood.
Pius222 the Birminghams killed an adult intruder last year, the second one ran away but yeah you’re right. The competition is very low, that’s their luck. Avocas are back, they seem to be determined to claim the north this time, they look huge already and it seems the Birminghams are giving up this section. Let’s see what happens.

They weren't poached.It shows them near the end Darkmane and Scar were ousted from the pride.They were old weak nothing but bones They starved to death.Goldenmane apparently died from an injury gone bad.

Thats not true! All Majingilane lions had a great bond GM just was the youngest of the 5 thats why always had 'the least'. Then when hip Scar got injured GM became more dominant but they did answer to each others calls. Man...they did stand for 8 years!
