💑 About Hercules Candy
Hercules Candy has been on Steve’s side of the family since 1910(ish). When he took over in the 70’s, he anticipated after 10 years of hard work, he could move the business out of the basement and into a real storefront. Unfortunately, it took until 2018 for that to happen, but hey at least it happened! Steve and Terry own the shop, Craig (the social media manager) is their son, Cara (wrapper and shipper extraordinaire who is poised to take over the shop one day) is their daughter and Leah (who doesn’t love being on camera and is very elusive) is their oldest daughter. Karen has been working for Hercules Candy since the twins (Craig and Cara) were about 6 months old and everybody else is a new recruit. Don’t forget to subscribe and hit the 🔔 for more videos!

Pecan pralines are very southern and delicious. They are cooked on the stove to a certain temp.....not chewy, but somewhat grainy, soft ball stage, and dropped by spoonfuls into circles.
Craigs media cart reminds me of the person who comes into the room to finish registration if you go to the ER for anything ! Lol

1:09:05 Considering how Steve is always coming up with clever solutions -such as the wheels on the enrober; I would think that he could come up with a system to catch the fluid from the table during cleanup easier.
Granted, past good ideas is good gauge of future success but everyone should be thinking only thing different between a person with an usable idea and a used idea it having the confidence in an idea and encouragement
Pralines are a caramel like candy 🍬 with pecans in it. It’s so yummy.

Shawn on "Mousetrap Monday" tested the theory that strong mint chases away rodents.
NO, it actually DOESN'T, and hot pepper doesn't work either.
It did at my place. When developers started tearing up the waterfront the resident rat clans were suddenly homeless and wandering. One or two found their way to my balcony which I thought was weird as my cat friends inhabit the balcony freely. I even had a litter box out there. I saw the rat using the litter box. Even more weird. I do not want to harm anyone, so I set about trying to figure it out. I made a pepper oil concoction and spread it around the perimeter of the balcony out on to the walls around balcony. I then put my potted mints and cat nip plants around, and picked some and sprinkled it around and lay some out in bunches. The rats stopped coming by. The reason the oil worked is that it gets on their feet which is not comfortable and when they clean their feet it is not good. That is why hot pepper in bird feeders keeps squirrels from eating the bird food.
@@d.rabbitwhite Shawn mixed powdered hot peppers with seed mix. He made 2 piles one mixed with pepper and one plain. The rodents ate them both equally. In fact there was ONE big rat that showed a definite preference for the pepper coated seeds. I don't know about using pepper oil where they walk, he never TRIED that. He DID test several different kinds of mint.....none of THEM seemed to work either.....OR ground cinnamon.🤷 Maybe he has a different species of RAT around where he lives than you do. Perhaps some species have a better tolerance than others.

That is the hazards of using pure peppermint oil in hot sugar. Sorry guys. love the candy making and the bantering is always fun to watch.

YOU SHOULD MAKE A SAMPLER BOXES
An exterminator instructed me to get pure peppermint oil for mice. It has to be the pure oil like used in candy. That is what he said his company uses. They buy by the gallon and put around the perimeter of a room or property. It burns their nose.
If this is your spice hard candy, save me a couple of pounds. This is my favorite and you are the only company that makes it! I need to stock up!

It can do either depending on what temperature water is pumped into the table, but we use it as a cooling table

In scandinavia we eat a lot of salty licorice, that kontains ammonia 😁 Also hard candy, you should really try to make that. The most famous one is probably the one called Turkish pepper. I love it, its no joke! ❤
