I'd go 17's and an aggressive street tire but not mud or all traction. 17's are the middle ground in my eyes. You get a decent rim amount and decent tire sidewall. To me mud tires on a car just kill the look. You may get people talking with mud tires but not to sure it would be positive. Then again i may be wrong too 🤷
You maybe right on 17s. Remember if it flops on mid tire it’s an easy tire change or wheel change is the positive side. Wish I could draw for yall what I see in my head bc it’s really bad ace
Uncle Mike is bad Ass. Be a sponge with him. Y'all rockin it.
Forsure thanks buddy
Hey, Cleo Here! If you go 20" Rims then there is a wide range of tires to go with.
Thanks
15 inch no doubt mate. Steel painted artillery wheel with a cap. Can the mud tire. Plenty of good street tires out there
Want the aggressive look of a mud tire don’t want street tires
I noticed you were doing continuous welds on body metal. On thin metal you do spot welds, as the red goes out of each spot you weld a spot overlapping the last spot.
Yes I think in an early video I explained how you should stagger the tacks one at a time and wait till it’s cool enough to touch to move on.
I like the regular tire idea vrs mud tire but also like the baby moon style rim idea ! But regardless of choice I watch and enjoy following the build
Thanks!
15x8 on front and 15x10 with moon hub caps
Thanks
I would do 20's with the same profile tire. That will be a better ride quality. I am thinking a Halibrand style look.
The more I think about it the more I’m liking the idea of 20s
I personally like the 15", but not sure I'm a fan of the truck tires.
Ok thank you
22's are too big but if you like that size"oh well", I like chevy rally wheels in the 15'' range that has plenty of tire between the rim and the ground.
Thanks buddy
I would do the Street Rod look , maybe 20s in the front with a little bit of sidewall like you already have, and do a 24 in the back a little tall side wall , always run shorter tires in the front on all my lower trucks and a taller fatter tire in the back , gives a lowered truck , that Street Rod look 👍👍👍 enjoy watching , I think it’s a hellcat engine under the cover , is what I would do , since it’s a Mopar car 😬😬😬
Interesting thanks buddy
Thing coming along fast man looking good
Thanks man
Are you using .035 wire in the welder? If so, imo it would be better to use .023 wire on the thin sheetmetal. Also think one piece door windows would look way better than ones with the wings, especially with a tint.
I think I am actually. I’ll check into that thanks a ton for that advice!
Yes definitely one piece windows
That current rim looks deadly on that front.
As in good?
@@ThePaintPaperHustle most definitely!!💯
I like the 20/22 combo but the style is hard to say without knowing the direction you are going NO mudder tires i hope
Thanks
Did you think about a 20”wheel and a little bit more tire?
I didn’t to much but you maybe right honestly. Ima look up some tire sizes
If you want the street rod look 22s all the way. Even a 20 would look good please don’t go with the steel wheel and baby moon hub caps. That is so generic looking in my opinion. I have a 48 3100 Chevy pickup lowered and my sons shamed me into 20s riddlers. And to be perfectly honest I wish they were 22s. Couldn’t be happier with the look. But build your car , get your wife’s input. An enjoy.
Thanks buddy I appreciate that input
My opinion a 17” front runner and a 15” 29.5-10 out back
To close to a performance racing look
Have you thought about using gangster white wall tires with a rim 0:55 that would fit just a thought Dad
Yes actually have but it’s been done so many times that I think I need something that really gets people attention. Also thought about figuring out how to turn a mud tire into a white wall.
Crome wheels are car color dependent. They work with some colors but not all.
I agree
Never go with off-road tires. A street rod should never be on mud tires
More of reason to do it. We don’t want anything generic or normal. We need to think outside of the box attention getting to go as big as I want with this build. Another run of the mill hot rod won’t get us to the level I want.
20s at the max.
Thanks
15 inch chrome
Thanks
20" Detroit steel wheels with chrome moons and rings as far as wheels go with the gangster look. id want some rubber on there personally but im from Detroit, weve had rough roads up here for 5 0+ years lol. i run BFG KO2's on my XJ cherokee, they are not quiet. i wouldnt choose a truck tire if it was me. the chopper top has totally made this car alot cooler, i was skeptical before the chop. now its pretty damn sweet
😉 glad to hear you say that. That’s the goal of this build is to get the wow effect. Ima look up the wheels you’re talking about. Thanks
i like the the big wheels but NO RUBBER BANDS
Thanks
Look at Detroit Steel Wheels for an 18" - 20" with a center cap - this will give you the look of OLD SCHOOL but yet a custom look and feel. I say NO WAY with a mud tire unless it's a rat rod build and knowing you, it's going to be a straight and painted street rod and I just don't think a mud tire would look right on that.
Thanks buddy. Definitely want a mid tire or an all terrain
How big of a turning radius do you want. Steering's going to suck with what you showed.
Remember it’s bagged meaning you lift it up to drive it
dude dont go with the 22 or larger, go with a 20 also a bonus with 20s there is a better choice of tires available
Check out the newer videos in this project.
Not using unleaded fuel I bet.... but mud tires idk.. kinda goes against being low.
🤷🏻♂️
And exactly…. We need different, outside the box, attention getting. Need to make people talk about this one
The grinder I have, makes me the welder I ain't. Lol
lol true with me also
Like those 21's finished up with the other video
Thanks man
I have to be completely honest I can't stand big rims. They are so out of proportion they just look wrong. Especially on old cars like this one. Your car you do what you want but I won't use anything bigger than a 17. It needs 15 inch chrome reversed wheel. No off road tires there's plenty of regular street tires that tall. Just my 2 cents worth. Keep Killin it brother.
Thanks. Not looking for the height of the tire. Looking for the aggression of a mud tire
I agree
Totally agreeGary. Large diameter wheels on cars especially hot rods suck shit.
I have to agree also. Turning Radius gets affected.
When turning car will be lifted up some. Tim size doesn’t effect turning radius that’s the OD of the tire that effects that
To big I think I would try at the most 20" and more retro looking.
Thanks
What about the dragstar 15s
I looked at a few today so maybe
Man everybody as done ever car with 15” rims I was digging the fact that this would be a big Rim old school car I think the 22 looked great more work but more reward I think
Thanks man you’re not wrong
I don’t like nascar at all, I am a drag racing through and through but I do like F1. I was going to tell you to come stay with me next year I am half hour away from the Chicago race. Do nascar people like this race or not? I thought it was a cool idea.
Some do me personally I hate the road courses and turning right bc it’s so slow. I like the traditional circle tracks. I can watch NASCAR for hours on tv but can’t watch drag racing actual racing on tv bc to me it’s just not as interesting. Now in person I love watching drag racing just not on tv.
Race it too
No we are going as far from racing as we can with this build now
@@ThePaintPaperHustle are you going to race sometime right?
@jamesdavis4859 I have no interest in racing competitively anything at the moment.
@@ThePaintPaperHustle ok bro
20 or 22” steel’s (transport wheels)
Thanks
22 inch all the way,
Thanks
Courtney take a look at Detroit Steel Wheels. They have a few old school styles that you can have baby moons on. In diameter’s up to 22x9. Old school look with new school style. With the chin drop if you can’t find a second wrap around trim piece then maybe a second turn signal bar?
Thanks I will look up them styles. And I didn’t think about doing the second turn signal bar. I’ve found the lower bars on eBay but not at prices I want to pay at the moment. I’m not desperate yet
I'm interested in the build regardless. But a nice old laid down street rod with a decent size wheel is sexy with that stance.. But I've seen some sexs bad arse hot rods with some all terrains on it as well
Thanks. I’m starting to think more along lines of an all terrain
22" rim for sure
Thanks
It would look great with some rear skirts like the old lead sled cars. Running 22's on the front and could run whatever you wish on the rear like 275's for function at the dragstrip. The skirts would cover the 15" rims so it wouldn't look odd with such a different size rim.
@stanlucas1932 no drag strip at all but yes I agree with you that would look good
I am going to guess you came across a 6.2 with 6l80 and going all wheel drive thus the grips on the front. but I like the more hotrodish 22s
🤷🏻♂️
Thanks man we will see on the wheel choice. I’m on the fence.
I smell diesel fumes coming ..
🤷🏻♂️
A question on your welder; I don't see any Inert Shielding Gas Cylinder behind your welder. Are you using a Flux Core Wire ? The sheet metal welds get contaminated with slag with the flux. I see some of the slag build up on your molding hole welds. Also are you using .023 Wire. That helps also in sheet metal welds of 18 to 22 gauge. EastWood Products has two types magnetic copper welding blow through tools. I have both tools and they work well. Also your Aluminum Blow Though Tool your using also can contaminate your welds because it melts at less than 600 degrees causing gasses to penetrate your weld........just an observation, I don't mean to be critical. Your project is a very labor intense one...........
Thanks great advice especially on the aluminum that makes sense. Someone else pointed out the .023 and I didn’t know that. I’m going to switch over to that. The welder is on gas.
I thought you just learned how to mig a year ago, but you said you did custom work before how did you not know how to mig b4? Or are you just better cuz it’s wild to see you just get better.
No I started using mig in 2010. I’m new to tig and only have practiced once with tig. That’s why I stick to the mig bc I know how to do it and stopping to learn tig just slows me down
Ummmm, there is one solution to your problem of burning through the project.!!! Start tig welding so it will take longer. You keep saying it is going to fast. 😂.
I never tig welded anything but I would start learning cuz you don’t add that much material as mig you could actually just arc it together then you wouldn’t have to grind so much. I watched a video of some guy explaining the difference and he has a custom shop that charges like 200 an hour for a build and says he don’t allow a mig welder in his shop not cuz it is not effective but because ppl pay more for tig, and they think it’s better. I know talking w our group ppl said in drag racing you can’t mig chrome moly.
@@ThePaintPaperHustledidn’t you used to make your Partner weld for you? I remember watching vids and you being like eddy is going to do this for me.
@frankkatsenis3812 you’re 100% right. I have no excuse at all. I just flat out don’t want to take the time to learn now. Would rather keep grinding mig at the moment. I will forsure learn though with this project
I have no clue what wheel you should run. I don’t even like these old of cars I like muscle cars cuz I love drag racing and I love imports and exotics. I am telling this to you to tell you
1. I just watch cuz I like you. No homo
2. Do something wild next build an old import like a Toyota ae86 (initial d) that would feed the log rhythm or an old Ferrari or even buy a newish Ferrari and flip it
Ferrari is my favorite (fun fact my daughter Emmie, I made her middle name “Rarri” lol she’s 8 so I was alittle younger back then). People don’t watch the flips on this channel hardly and I don’t have money to do the high end ones. Thanks for watching though. This one will be outside the normal box alittle.
No mud
Thanks
You’re not gonna make a monster truck are you whatever it is sure to be nice watchingThanks for the video
Can’t be a monster truck and slammed on bags lol
No big rims.
Thanks
No rubber bands. 17 at the biggest. Like I said, steelies and baby moons. Just my thinking. I hate the bid Ass rims.
Peace brother
Thanks man
Courtney please do not cut them front fenders
Not cutting anything that isn’t needed to achieve the look I need
15" wheels with mud tires...
Thanks!
No excuse about not having the time to learn how to rig weld. You just said how long it took to grind the door after welding it. Stop and take the time to tig. You won’t regret it.
You’re 100% right. Just don’t want to stop and learn at the moment
Large diameter wheels are for trucks not cars.
Thanks
I dont know why you always wanna shove big wheels in your cars . Maybe because im 60 yrs old and cant understand that look. Keep it more stock even though its a chop.
Stock isn’t gonna take me to the level that I want to be at. Thank you
15" baby moons with wide white wall???🤔
Really leaning hard towards a mud tire
Any pics of cats done with mud tires?
Cars
@pauleverhart9059 not really bc it’s unique. That’s kinda the secret to getting attention as long as it looks good. Same thing I did with the comet in many ways like using a rear bumper for my front valance etc. we need another one off build
No way . Don't go off the rail. Stay period correct. Definitely not rubber band wheel tire combination 😢
Thanks
