09:35 "How did you become interested in becoming Catholic?"

44:20 "What would you say to someone who is interested in becoming Catholic?"
(Note: You may notice some audio issues towards the second half of this interview. Luckily, it's my audio that is somewhat difficult to hear, but Mikhayla's story comes through crystal clear. Sorry about that! I am learning as I go.)

I was also baptized in a Southern Baptist church, my story is described in the next sentance. In April 2016, I did an apologetics paper for college and included Peter Kreeft's book Handbook of Christian Apologetics, the professor was like you know hes Catholic right? lol. I did a speech on Lectio Divina in 2017, not knowing it originated with Catholicism. Then in late March 2019, I did a paper on John 6 which had me scratching my head with some of the Protestant interpreters I was reading, it was like they had to jump through hoops to support their view/s. Then during Good Friday 2021, I read Steve Ray's Crossing the Tiber, which had me scratching my head even more, maybe Catholics aren't as bad as Protestants are told. Anways considering RCIA in the coming fall, pray for me.
Kory, that is such an amazing story, and very comical! I hope you’ll give RCIA a shot this year, and you’ll definitely be in my prayers.
Prayers! God bless!
God bless your journey 🙏
Love all the converts to our beautiful Catholic faith! I’m a cradle Catholic, when I was little coming from a small town predominantly Catholic and went to Catholic school as well. Remember I use to think everyone was Catholic as an adult now I think why isn’t everyone Catholic. You are super enthusiastic keep it up. Love and God bless you girls.
Our Lady telling you "You are allowed to look at him." 🥺 Wow. Eucharistic Adoration needs to be more prevalent for all Catholics. It is not one revelation after another, (it would be too overwhelming to tolerat) but when those moments hit when the Lord touches your soul 😯 It is worth every second. "For one day within your temple heals every day alone."
Amen! I was choking back tears when Mikhayla shared that. And that is so true, we all need to set aside more time to be with Jesus.
Great testimoni. Welcome to the church. Greeting from indonesia.
🇹🇱🇹🇱🇹🇱from East..t timor ..jesus love you all🤗🤗🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Keep up the good work, Nice to see young people converting
I love this sweet woman!
AMEN
Welcome home, Mikhayla! A very inspiring conversion story, and such a bright young woman! She is also so lucky to be in Washington D.C. where the beautiful National Shrine is (which I have watched Mass on TV/EWTN). God Bless You! PS: St Ignatius of Antioch was the successor of St Peter as Bishop, thus the Eucharist being the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus is from the very beginning, taught by the Apostles (vs. the 3rd Century)....
Wonderful Testimony. Gift for evangelising too. Thank you.
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed.
Passed the bar !!! Wow. Good job
Wisconsin shows up. Thanks for telling your story.
Bless you and best of luck I feel the same way about how it is a way of life in which you can always learn.
A typical example faith + deed doctrine? Great work with this channel.
Thanks for watching, Bahre!
❤❤,I like this girl's testimony. Thank you.
This is such a wonderful testimony 🙌
Great Chanel. Keep it up.
Thank you! More interviews are coming soon.
Screaming after her confession. Outside the Church I assume. Welcome home young lady.
Love hearing this. Your enthusiasm, warmth and interest is infectious. It makes me think of all I take for granted, to put more of my thought and time into prayer. And so grateful to be reminded of the church as haven for people in need, in todays world and in early church.
I'm glad you enjoyed Mikhayla's story! Thanks for watching.
Great job with this channel. The testimonies are very good. Do you have a conversion story that I missed. It would be interesting to hear the story behind this channel. Thanks and may God bless you and yours.
Wow, thank you for the kind message! After thinking about your comment, I've decided that I'll share my conversion story in the next video! I'm planning on livestreaming on Wednesday 1/19 at 6 Eastern, and then the video will be available after that as well.

@@jbloe555 I reciprocate God's blessings to you and your dear ones.
There is HOPE that the present crises will also pass.
There is nothing new under the sun, but thanks be to God for his faithfulness!
I'm an Evangelical who has been seriously intrigued about becoming Catholic. Then I went to Mass. I was totally lost. It didn't take long for me to realize I didn't belong there. It was really sad. I would love to be a part of the Catholic Church, but there's got to be a way to help someone new navigate through all the liturgy. There needs to be a map or order of service to help those people exploring navigate. I was so excited, and now I'm so discouraged.
Although I am a cradle Catholic, I did know some Protestants, and we once discussed the differences in our worship services. The Protestants said that their services tend to focus on the sermon, which is logical given their belief that they are just in the church to pray with other believers. Catholic services have a sermon, but it is less critical and, therefore, shorter (generally). The Catholic mass focuses on the sacrament of communion, which Protestants call the Lord's Supper. The prayers surrounding this are called the canon of the mass and take place after the sermon. So, some of your confusion may have come from the fact that when a Protestant service would be winding down, a Catholic mass is just warming up. Hope this helps.
Hi there, so sorry to hear that your first experience was not what you were hoping. I will say that I was quite intimidated when I first started attending Mass... I felt like I didn't know what I was doing, and I felt really embarrassed, like I probably looked silly. That feeling went away pretty quickly, and I have since realized that Catholics are not focused on finding outsiders during Mass-they are just focused on their own participation, or in my case these days - trying to keep our kids behaved! You can think about other things that are unfamiliar-traveling in a foreign country, learning to use chopsticks, or even riding a bike-it takes time to get comfortable and understand how to do something. Particularly with the Mass, the focus is on worshiping in a distinctly Catholic way, so it is just naturally less welcome for people who are curious.
That being said, there are some ways that you can become more familiar. Make some Catholic friends by attending a small group or regularly attending other events at a parish. It takes time, just like all relationships.
RCIA is the program by which non Catholic adults enter the church or simply learn about it. It normally starts late summer/early fall, so you might have missed it this year, but it never hurts to learn about it ahead of time.
There are lots of great printed/online resources you can explore. You can search for "Order of Catholic Mass" and you will find lots of resources. Here's one that might be helpful. presentationparish.org/sites/pparish/files/uploads/documents/a_walk_through_the_mass.pdf. There are probably also videos on youtube.
If you email me your address at filedunderfaith@gmail.com, I would be happy to send you a small booklet that they have at my parish that walks you through the Mass and the Catholic faith.
I pray that God will continue to guide you, where ever it is he may be leading you.
Read the Lamb Supper by Scott Hahn
@po18guy That sounds good, but I have no idea what a "Missal" is, what it looks like, or where to find it. I also don't know any Catholics. So I listen online which makes it so much easier for me, but it does help me a great deal. However, I will be going back in person from time to time. It's just hard being so clueless.
@@jessman8597, a missal is a book that gives you the content of the mass. It has both the "Ordinary," and the "proper" for each day, or Sunday. The Ordinary is a sort of skeleton for the mass; it's a series of prayers used in every mass. The proper are several prayers that vary from one mass to another.
This is John. When you get off your YT break, I want to have you on my YT/podcast please!!
Hi John, sure, sounds good. Can you shoot me an email at filedunderfaith@gmail.com for us to arrange the details?
Wow❤
Thanks for watching!
👍
except if you're Steven Furtick or Rick Warren, then you don't borrow from Calvinism!! You borrow from seeker sensitivity!!
Very telling that there was no conviction regarding spiritual truth or biblical application, purely feelings. Jesus spoke of the seed that do not fall on the fertile soil, people wanting to have their ears tickled.
Hi Alex,
Different things about the Catholic faith draw different people. Some are drawn to the deep theological tradition, others to the spirituality of the church, others to the lives of the saints, and on and on. Not every protestant experiences deep theological wrestlings as part of their conversion to Catholicism, but that does not represent a lack of spiritual discernment.
Secondly, this was a 50 minute conversation. It is not possible to cover every facet of a person's conversion within that time frame. Are you really able to judge all that went on in a person's heart after watching one CZcams video?
If you would like to hear a conversation where we do discuss biblical doctrine and exegesis, I would suggest you check out my conversation with Kimberly, as wrestling with theological issues was a large part of her conversion: czcams.com/video/T-VZT_LDtHE/video.html.
Finally, I can promise you that there is little in Catholicism to tickle the ear. It is a joy and a peace and a gift to be a Catholic, but it is also full of sacrifice and obedience and adherence to truth. Consider the Catholic Church's teachings on sex, marriage, divorce, contraception, etc, and this will become obvious.
God bless.
@@FiledUnderFaith amen love this response
No biblical application or spiritual truth to be found in being attracted to the fellowship of faith? Finding favor with the people is just tickling their ears? It's bad enough to pluck Tobit out of Bible, but the Acts of the Apostles?
Take RCIA please
