  • Today I had a conversation with Kaitlyn from Tea with Tolkien about Tolkien (of course!), her Catholic faith and conversion, Lord of the Rings and The Rings of Power, and how to throw a hobbit party. You can find out more about Tea with Tolkien on Kaitlyn's website: www.teawithtol...

Finally I hear from your channel. I'm a huge Tolkien fan. The Hobbit was so much fun to read as a kid. I tried LOTR, but it wasn't my thing.

Yes, I’m still making videos and plan to indefinitely, but they are just being made at a pretty slow pace these days. Thanks for following along! I had a tough time getting through LOTR but ultimately enjoyed it. I’ve heard of many people who read it many times, and so I’m inspired to read it again.

If you liked The Hobbit, give Lloyd Alexander a try. His 5 books are The Book Of Three, The Black Cauldron, The Castle Of Llyr, Taran Wanderer and The High King.

@@Elsupermayan8870 thanks. Will do. Are these more like the Hobbit than LOTR

I'd say they're more like the Hobbit because it deals specifically with the main character, Taran, not solely tho.
He meets different characters along his journey who become his trusted companions.
Personally, I like the 2nd book the best; The Black Cauldron, which can be read on its own apart from the others. Disney made a movie about it way back in the 60's, which was not a very good movie and combined books 2 and 3 only.

@@Elsupermayan8870 thanks. I'll check out the books. I always preferred the Hobbit because of the simplicity and novelty of the encounters between Bilbo and Aragorn, Legolas, etc., where huge battle descriptions and folklore started to wear on me in LOTR - after fellowship. Interestingly enough, I feel the same about the films: I enjoyed the Hobbit trilogy but did not like the LOTR trilogy.

I haven't heard anything good about the latest Tolkien monster. It's apparently a Wokefest.

I haven’t heard that at all. I had to go looking for these complaints, but it seems that the racial diversity of the cast is what you are referring to. This doesn’t bother me at all. The show isn’t even out yet, so I don’t see how anyone can reasonably treat it as garbage when there is so little currently known about the show.

I do have a problem with American racial identity politics being forced into the greatest book of the 20th century. It's ideological colonisation, and I don't have to like it.

Especially when the actors admitted in an interview that they're social activists that want to represent members of marginalised communities in the films, that should send up a red flag.
I don't know why anyone would want to watch this social activist ad campaign, if they do it must be because they condone that kind of trash promoted by the 🌈 mafia.
