leather restoration color change interior color change - Jak na to + styl
Best explanation and video I've seen so far on re-dying leather for my car project. Thank you.
Yes its just a dye, the leather will still retain its suppleness. This is why the prep work is needed.
This probably works on skin too...rejuvinate your skin, clean your skin, change skintone... Makes you look 30 years younger! :3
Or thirty years redder ;)
Maybe even orange
Ayo CJ wus hood
That's probably how Trump did it.
How much would you charge to do this process on my wife?
It will last years and years. All up the whole process is under $150
you guys are awesome i feel lucky to have found yall, now i want to change the color of everything i see
@DestinctiveSounds the rejuvenation oil will clean them. then use a leather crack filler like mentioned at the start of the video
@pimpmyforklift you can get everything you need from VG Auto Paints. they are in Sydney. thanks for the kind words I'm in the process of a plastic repair episode.
This video really just helped me out so I can do my interior myself
Great to know I can finally get that tan interior in a car that never had one. Thanks for showing this, I would've had no idea this method existed unless I had stumbled upon this.
Did it work?
Did you try?
Your wearing a Dunder Mifflin shirt!!! That's it you sold me. I'm subscribing!
mxer657 Thanks mate. It will last forever on real leather, fake leather not as long.
A leather repair video would be awesome, I have some damaged leather seats too. Ill work on it..
That would be fantastic!
Not as long as forever, haha. Is that to say it will at least last one lifetime?
Robert Salazar BLAAACK, FOREVER.

Hey, nice video overall, great presentation, the results were fair and I am sure will help someone save some money. I give it a thumbs up as I am all about saving money and getting the rubber back on the road..............
thanks very much for getting back to me, very appreciated, thankyou!
From all the video's i have seen. this made A the most sence.. B your result it self is amazing C Good to follow as a guideline . D i thank you (y)
This is a great and very helpful video! Thank you!
Awesome work Dave!
Actually, it is leather paint (dye soaks into the leather, paint sits on top). Though I don't see why it matters, looks like a fine product, and the job came out good. Nice video.
hi i love the vid thank you for the information i can finally change my couch set coor
but you never specified the amount of coats needed with a spray gun
Hey if they are a man made type leather you can go straight to the scuffing and dye. There are links in the description of where you can get this stuff from.
That looks amazing!
Thats amazing! The music your using sounds like the Sims free play game 😂
I had a set colour changed 6 years, the seats get medium usage and they are still like the day they were coloured
This is awesome! I've got some ugly blue leather seats which I think would be ideal to turn red. Is there no need to treat the seats after the final dye coat? Just let it cure for about a week and then it'll be stuck on and won't smear into my clothes? Also is there anh preferred temperature range to let this cure?
Hey mate, Thanks. If you drop me an email I can send some out to you. Details are in the description.
I read that if you get a scratch on this it will start to peel like plastidip. What type of use do these seats see and have you had any similar experiences?
Great to hear the Aussie accent! Thanks for the great video and info. I see I can buy it in Wodonga. Can I use this product on a vinyl dash board and window pillars? It is not possible to spray them, so I am presuming I would apply several coats with a cloth without removing the dash (huge job to remove it)? What can you suggest?
I just got a brand new car and I saw the red interior in a video and I thought it looked amazing. How much would it cost to pay someone to do this? I would want it done to the seats, the leather on the door and a couple spots on the dashboard. It wouldn't be the entire Dash or door, there's only a few parts that have leather on them. I know it's at least $2,500 to get it reupholstered so I was curious to see how much it would cost just to change the color. I might not even do the entire seat. I think it looks good when it's both red and black. Any answers would be great if anyone has them
hello! I love this video.
can you tell me the exact type of spray gun you used? Or do you have any recommendations and/or ones that are not too expensive for home use?
the gun i used is available from VG Auto Paints ebay store. Iwata mini gun
thanks mate really appreciate this tutorial. I want to change my FD RX-7 interior from black to red. Do you have any videos on fixing interior parts and repainting plastics to suit?
Wow, what a Great job, thanks I love it , I can't believe the difference. :-)
those look fantastic. could you tape off the center section and keep it black while making the rest of the seat red.? a two tone seat if you will.
Gorgeous paint job
was not expecting that too work that good. came out amazing, but i would prefer the black seats. its just a cleaner look
You and mighty car mods are the best car guru's on you tube !
Do you no how to repair scrach marks on the plasticy bits on a car interior , such as kick panles and center consoles ?
Do you no who and were in sydney i can get custom color spray paint cans from ? i have a metalic storm grey paint on my car , i do also no what the paint code is , i just need it in a can to repaint front and back bumper bars like you have showen on your videos .
Love your work man and how you explain it !
great job but really wanted to see how the seats would look after a few months of using
Awesome video. Can we apply on jacket also?
@pimpmyforklift I've painted panels and interior part on my car using custom spray cans from auto barn. As long as you do your prep work u can't go too wrong mate
that escalated quickly and was unexpectedly good!!!
how about cloth seats though...lol anything i can do with them?
Hi and great video.. I have a BMW 330 2006 and I am interested in changing the color from black to brown can you tell me what can I do and where I can purchase everything thank you again
Is recolouring interior especially seat covers long lasting? I think, the new colour will start peeling off in a few weeks. Am I right?
Hello,
you need to put a .com.au at the end. Yes you can change leather from black to tan. Use the same method as this video.
This is mad!!! thank you guys!
Wow that was an amazing result
I have a BMW X5 with a tan leather interior, but I hate the tan leather so I bought a black leather interior from a wrecked car. I recently saw a new BMW 3 series Individual with black interior throughout but it had red seats and red door insert within the black panels itself and fell in love. Do you have a link to the exact kit you used in a complete package?
WOW, that looks great !
Great video, I will do this sometime in the future.
Thinking about doing this to my jacket...same color
Deadpoolicious 🤦🏼♂️
Awesome work, nice guide.
Hey mate its all water based so yes this is possible.
man that looks real good!
this is exactly the color of our couch that we need to fix, how much estimate for all the materials needed? thank you
Long time viewer. Two things we are all thinking:
1. How long does this last?
2. Can you do a leather repair video?
mxer657 same anyone know?
mxer657 will last 18-24 months with proper care.
I would love to change the interior of my OEM leather seats from black leather to white. HOWEVER I do have cloth inserts down the middle of the bottom of the cushion as well as the portion that supports the back. How could I go about adding dye to the black without ruining the cloth inserts in the middle? Double just taping it off be good enough to hold off on the dye? Or would it seep/saturate into the cloth inserts. Thanks DAVE!
Hi CSM. What is the colour code of the red shown in the video? I want to give this a try using the same colour. Thanks for all your videos, keep up the great work!
Pretty cool and very informative, but what if you wanted to coat it AND paint a logo on it?
Old video i know but i just watched the video, interested in knowing if they lasted? and how long. Had heaps of people tell me not to do it, because it wont last very long. cheers for the vids!
#customspraymods
Yes it would be possible. This change from black to red would have to be the extreme colour change. Red to black/green should be a breeze.
Hi; great job
Will this last on a motorcycle seat with the rain etc
Nice work. What size tip are you using on the mini gun, like a 1.0? PSI setting? Thanks.
would you recommend applying more layers in the high wear areas such as bolsters ?
Maybe i missed it in the video but what certain chemicals and paints do you recommend to do this...Im very interested.
The chair in the thumbnail looked like a depressed deadpool.
That is all.
I am about to do color change from Grey to dark red, using the same Leatherique products as shown on the video. I have one leather piece with a few cracks. SHould I use the crack filling technique first and then the same steps (including sanding) as for dying the seats?
+Georgi Georgiev I'm planning to do the same on my BMW. How did you go?
Assuming the seats are a really nice leather to begin with, do they still feel great after using this product? I have a small spot I'd like to repair using this product, but am hesitant to use it over a large area. Thanks :)
Perfect seat shape! I want them! Don't know what looks better though...the red or the black with yellow inserts! I k ow it was tape but the yellow looked hot! Haha
I am really not sure about that you would have to email Rob at POR15. The website is in the description.
your vids are brilliant..........
If I wanted to just do like the trim parts of the seats would it be as easy as to just mask off the rest of the leather? Or do they have something out there to protect the parts you do not wish to change the color of?
How long do you think the colour will last with daily use and driving?
How much did the colour change cost all up?
This isn't "dye" this is vinyl paint.
"but be careful not to make the coats too thick or it will have that plastic-y feel"
Yeah, because this is vinyl paint.
Try reading the description.
It's a water-based dye.
Hi... can i please get a full list of all the products used including lnks to where i can buy it from? As im keen om doing up my leather seats just like in this video... cheers!
You did a good job there! ;)
Awesome man! Thanks! Now I want some cinnamon seats for my car!
This is a great FAQ video
i have dealt with dave at the VG auto paints store located in very well presented shop at Girraween NSW
the team are a bunch of top blokes with great advise ..
the info supplied has helped me make this system work perfectly..
i myself have successfully restored and colour changed 20 year old ford leather seats
with this system and tutorial video
thanks again mate great video
What about using leather conditioner would it still soak into the leather and keep it smooth and crack free
Hey mate, how much does it cost and how long was the labor from removing the seats to painting it and putting it back on? cheers
Beautiful work and end finish. Could have done this on my black seats, the question is, how long does this last? Will this stain your clothes if damp? Sweating, heat etc.?
Final result was amazing
I have 2 cream colored sofas, stuffed with down, I'd like to change it to light brown, it's not pulled tight like a car seat, more like a pillow, 3 cushions on each, I understand the lengthy process, can you give me an idea of how many packages/kits it will take? Thanks
would you say spraying or a sponge ? I have sprayed paint and know that it can be tricky. This would be for an XKE that the interior is in very good condition but would like it to look like new. It would be the same color.
What kind of shops would do this kind of work? I have pewter gray leather seats and would be really interested in having it done by someone like you.
hello its 2016 came across ur video great vid btw. wanted to know if there is any dye for cloth because i want to go wit red for my door panels and they have cloth and its gray i want them Red ?
wow, if it didn't take so long, i'd love to do this to my leather seats.
Wow ....Great Job 👍
Just wondering, how can you tell if you have real or fake leather? Or how to tell what material are your seats made of?
ive got a suite that's being sprayed,is there any way I can take it back of
should I put fans on the seats if it's really hot out during the curing process? It's like 95 degrees here. I've never worked with dye before
how did the paint hold up?
I wonder if it is suitable for goalie equipment
Do you need to use the spray? Can you just paint it on like a brush or rag until the coat is done?
I have a question my black leather for my car just needs to be repainted what do you think I should get and do?
For the custom color in cans, go to VG Auto Paints in Giraween they will sort you out!
They should also be able to sort out the code for you too.
is the colour sun safe? Im thinking for my motorcycle seat. and can you lay down a stencil to put in designs, patterns, pictures?
how well does this work if changing from a non black/white colour to another? will the original colour seep through?
any suggestions on doing just parts of the car seat not the whole car seat?
Dave-
How about a 6 month and 1 year follow-up on how the dye is holding up? Any show-through of the original black in the seams or creases? Any red transfer onto your clothing?
How about a 10 year update lol
Where can I get those products?
How much product did you need for those seats? It looks like you only needed 8oz of each. I contacted Letherique as I want to change my front and rear seats from grey to black and they are recommending 32oz or rejuvinator oil, prestine clean, and prepping agent, and then a whopping 48oz of dye! It seems like they are trying to sell me more than I need. Given you've gone through the process would you think I need more than 16oz or each? Maybe 32oz at the most?
This was amazing video!
But I have a question. I have these amazing red leather seats that will be getting fitted to my car, there in the quilted leather style, (like bentley's, not that high quality though haha) anyway, My car is being sprayed in a Range Rover grey, with green alloys. It's a decent contrast. So for my red seats, would it be possible to do the middle section green, and the outer section of the seat black? Is it possible even with the seats being a very strong red? Thanks!
Yes, just take ur time , tape it off very good, using car painting tape, barely stick and do ur thing, try a leather clear spray sealer,to protect coating
would this work on polyurethane faux leather?
Is this dye going to stain clothing in a damp environment?
probably
not if you seal them properly
cody mcdowell no sealer needed, let it dry completely. Little to low humidity. After painting my seats I let them sit for a week before installing.
@@M6_Paki How are they holding up?
