This is the second time NetherRealm Studios has done a shoutout to _Primal Rage_ in their recent _Mortal Kombat_ games. It makes me wonder if they're next game will be a remake of that arcade classic. I know Ed Boon put out a Tweet over a year ago to gauge interest in him making a giant monster fighting game and many commenters brought up _Primal Rage_ and its roster of eldritch dinosaur gods.
It may be a long shot, but I could definitely see NRS being the perfect studio to revive that game for modern audiences that are looking for something new in their fighting games. It would also give them a fantastic opportunity to apply their style of gory story telling to a post-apocalyptic Earth filled with primordial beings and the neo-caveman tribes that worship them. I could see it being a mix of _Conan the Barbarian_ with more ritualistic human sacrifices, _Mortal Kombat's_ brutal combat and finishing moves and a little bit of _Street Fighter_ in terms of how each fighter has unique quirk to their game mechanics.
Hopefully with SF6 and MK1, fighting games start giving single player stuff more attention outside of story.
Or just better treatment in general. If they can't think of something good, maybe take something from the past that work like Alpha 3 World Tour.
Forreal. Deceptions conquest mode was one of the best single player experiences in gaming. It offered so much backstory and extra lore and getting to explore the realms. I don’t mind some multiplayer but funny enough, I prefer single player content/stories
It is funny how 2 game franchises that had little to almost no story telling at the start just read the story cards or with street fighter we had mistranslation for some of the most important and popular characters for there little end of fight words it is just kinda funny how games made to steal your allowance and only look cool and play nicely no real story just fight in the tournament became something like we want something like a fantasy or science fiction martial arts movie story or something like manga about tournament fighting just nice to see growth

God I completely forgot about Kollecotor. I wonder if Liu Kang made him like a postal worker or something in the new timeline. It'd be cool if we got alternate costumes of the kombatants new jobs. Quan Chi worked in a mine and Id love to seem him in overalls and a miner's hat just being proud of a good day's work.

Whenever I see "Mortal Kombat" I instantly remember a typo a german Gaming Magazine once had. At one part they wrote Wombat and instead of Kombat and even though that was easily 25+ years ago I still remember it.

I remember Amiga Format publishing the movelist for MKII with Johnny Cage's projectiles listed as "High Snot" and "Low Snot", which may have been a misspelling of "shot" or a reference to their splatty nature.

My favourite returning character is the Primal Rage arcade cabinet.
This feels like the evolution of the spirit battle mode in Smash Bros Ultimate, a mode that everyone hated, so I'm surprised by the warm reception it's getting. Can't wait to get my hands on it.
@kollie79neither did I. I really loved the Spirit battles because they used the immense way that a match could be customized, the many characters and spirits, so that each one of them had various elements of the specific game each match was based off of. It was sort of like you were playing bits or references of “that game” in each match. Plus the special boss battles and stuff were great in it.
I actually looked forward to new spirit matches as they came up, because I wanted to see how well they threw in stuff reminiscent of the game or character in it.
The spirits got hated for two reasons
1. There was like no actual story between the crossover characters in it, while this seems to have some mild story beats (but that may just be in the tutorials lol) and is a game mode where story isn't really expected. Helps that MK1 actually has a story ass story mode, while World of Light had to do all the story mode lifting for Smash Ult
2. World of Light was also Way Too Damn Long and well. We'll see how long one of these is

I think the reason people hated it was because World of Light was a downgrade from Subspace Emissary in pretty much every way. There were no sprawling levels filled with colorful and unique enemies, no fun or interesting interactions between any of the characters, or any signs of the comradery they built up throughout the story (like Samus and Pikachu). And there were only four cutscenes, one of which was just the original World of Light trailer. All it all, it just feels like World of Light had no passion put into it.
I enjoyed it a lot! Mainly for all the bizarre matches. It's almost like a rapid-fire Event mode. People just need to set their expectations better.
The MK2 Ninja costumes were indeed in 11 plus the masks.
Congorilla and Phantom Stranger from the movie posters are DC characters. The movies on the marquee are also the ones from the crime alley stage in Injustice 2.

I love the Injustice 2 reference with the theater and the MK11 reference of timequake.
Just imagining all the QA time spent making sure no one improperly used C's improperly in the text.

Only reason I remember Kollector is because I'm playing as him for the play in MK11. He's apart of the forgettable NRS era kharacters.
That was absolutely the crude CGI Reptile in the 3D printer, you can see the finished product next to the 2nd Drahmin mask Matt pointed out.
Mmmmm... The things Reptiles tongue could do. He could probably get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop in just 1-2!

as much as i like that it looks like mario party i kinda wish movement was more freeform like in 11's krypt so you can take a closer look at all the eastereggs and dumb npc shenanigans
there are so many easter eggs in Invasion mode.
Timequake is the movie Young Johnny proposed to Old Johnny in MK11 that they would co-star in , "Two Johnnies. One Timeline"
Also Johnny's Green Energy is explained in MKX and is a major plotpoint. He and Cassie have access to the Green Energy because the bloodline is from ancient order of divinely imbued warriors. (this is why the Cages were able to kick Shinnok's ass so hard)
My assumption is that in the new timeline he hasn't accessed any of it yet (no fireballs)

They should have called Cage's movies something even more Van Damme related.. like : Blood Exercise, Kick Fighter, Street Warrior and so on.... MK1 looks amazing though... might be the true comeback to the franchise.

This mode reminds me of Edge Master mode from the Soul Calibur/Blade games with the weird little fighting game challenges and conditions

Invasion mode has been a welcome addition to the game and have been having fun with it
I like the variety of fight types and mini games, but I'm not sure if I'm feeling the whole board game style and RPG elements (I think I would have preferred a more free roaming style similar to earlier Krypt modes)

Invasions mode is the HOTTEST bullshit I've ever played in my fucking life. Combat modifiers have never been fun to me and I hate that everyone has made them a thing to this point.
