      The so-called federal “debt” is the total of the dollars in all T-security (DEBT) accounts. To pay off the “debt,” the federal govt merely returns those dollars to the account holders. No tax dollars or future taxpayers are involved.
      CONTRARY to what you repeatedly are told, your children and grandchildren will not pay off the “debt.” No one will. Paying off the “debt” merely involves the return of existing dollars.
      Thus, the “debt,” no matter how large, never is a burden on the federal govt, nor on taxpayers, nor on the economy.

What a silly notion someone has taught to you. I’m a big fan of Thomas Sowell, and he would say what you described is so reality-detached and delusional that ONLY an intellectual (think an academic essentially in his definition) could dream of it and ignore the empirical evidence. If only he gave the same speech about corporations

    • @surfingsub5854
      @surfingsub5854 Před 2 lety +7

      Almost everyone in Congress will be worth much more than when they started, regardless of party. But, of course, that itself is a different story or issue.
      The U.S. has one of the highest corporate tax rates in the developed world. The combined federal and average state tax rate of 39.2% in the U.S. was the highest of any nation in the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development.
      The majority of federal revenue comes from individual and corporate income taxes as well as social insurance taxes. When individuals and corporations earn more money, they pay more in taxes, and thus federal revenue increases. Alternatively, if they make the same amount but tax rates increase, the federal revenue will also increase. Decreases in federal revenue are primarily due to either individuals or corporations making less money or decreasing tax rates.
      There are less than 8 million businesses in the USA with paid workers. There are about 32 million registered as a business but with no employees. There are approximately 176 million individuals that pay taxes. That turns out to be about $1.6 trillion for individuals and about $263 billion for businesses. It used to be about $400 billion for businesses, but the corporate tax was reduced by both Obama and Bush and then again by Trump in an effort to energize the economy, which was in trouble (as it is now). Private individuals drive about 70% of economic growth. Increasing taxes and increasing spending is the exact opposite of what should be done, but apparently, no one in the Biden administration has studied history or economics.
      So, except for companies claiming to be failing and making no profit, they are paying taxes. There are other means to lower tax rates, but that is all due to Congress's laws since 1778, so don't blame companies; they're only doing what the law allows. Even those in Congress take advantage of tax laws and pay as little as possible while potentially taking advantage of insider trading (though no one is ever charged with this or investigated over it).
      Go ahead and overtax business (USA businesses already pay more than almost all other industrialized nations) and see what happens in the end. Costs are either pushed down to consumers, product quality is reduced, workers are let go, or the business goes overseas to seek more profitable operations.
      In the first 170 years of America, the US Government tax revenue was roughly $1.1 trillion total for all years combined. The year 1990 was the first year that revenue increased past the $1 trillion mark per year. Within ten years, it grew to $2 trillion a year. Within 14 more years, it was now at $3 trillion a year. So we're now at about $3.8 trillion in revenue per year. But the Government spends over $6 trillion.
      The Government keeps spending on social issues affecting a minority of people and thousands of grants for dubious projects with zero return on investment.
      The United States, just like all other nations around the world, is finishing up from the C0VID debacle, which crushed the American economy (the stock market is not the US economy), and what we should be doing in Congress is switching to a contractionary fiscal policy and reduce the deficit and national debt by not spending on anything that is not 100% mandatory to keep the core functions of the Government running. We should not be spending on infrastructure or anything else until after 2022 to see how well America can come out of this C0VID debacle.
      Spending massive amounts of money that we the people (aka the Government) do not have is not fiscally responsible or wise.
      Even the Trump administration spent way too much money, and they should not have. Now that the administration has changed party and leader and is under the Biden administration doesn't mean fiscal irresponsibility should continue and cause damage to everyone in America both now and into the future for many decades to come. We need to turn America from having a massive debt to zero debt and hold our leaders to that style of Government. You can't be a fool with your money at home, so why should the Government be allowed to be a fool with our money too?
      Sooner or later as the cliche goes, you'll run out of other people's money by going down the socialist road. If it is in your core to live a socialist lifestyle then move to one of the other countries that tax people crazy amounts and provide mediocre services. One gets tired of hearing how country x does this and country y does this and yet ALL of them have mediocre services at best compared to what we have in the United States. Most Americans don't want to go from having the best to having the middle of the road.

He points out that this industry is the strongest union that insures income increases by reducing access and quickly shutting down any competition. From birth the medical industry has a conflict of interest as long as we allow them to write their own rules. What we need is accountability. If doctors or politicians for that matter want to earn good income then we need to establish an incentive system that encourages these professionals to perform.

    The days of work or even hard work are coming to it's end. Auto-dialers and Active call Software programs, have replaced many call center employees and reduced the number of people actually working answering phones. ATM machines were introduced and many Bank Tellers lost their position or the Bank terminated the Position. Gas Stations decided to trust the American people and allowed for self pumping gas pumps, Which cost a lot of people their jobs. Then the pumps also became self checkout and again more people lost their jobs. Shifts were reduced, more people lost their jobs. As I worked in the restaurant business, and learned all areas of the restaurant over twenty years, that I was employed. I saw with my own eyes, when Tablets replaced 1/3 the wait staff. That was less than ten years ago. I was recently at a few places this year that added, self checkout. Nice. I no longer have to wait on the cashier. But she no longer has a job either so, oh well. As many more conversions are made to autonomous technology. What do we as people, do?. Go to school for free. Get everything just thought of and made, free, Travel, free. Live in a suitable place for free.
