Nope as Eugene Stoner said the lightweight AR10 suffered from the same controllability problems firing the 7.62 NATO that the M14 did. The M14 was heavier! The AR10 needed a huge muzzle brake to help tame the recoil on full auto. That's when Stoner realized the AR needed the development of the intermediate cartridge that the rest of NATO wanted instead of the 7.62mm. All the post war NATO European countries were developing the EM2, FAL, CETME for lighter cartridges before the US forced the 7.62x51mm on them.

Stoner gave the military exactly what they wanted in this firearm design from the very beginning and the suits, the powers that be, messed it up by adding things that stoner disagreed with.
I would much rather have the corrosion protection, then a chamber rammer any day.
It is people like stoner that provided the security and victories of this country.
Today, the United States has a secretary of Homeland security that cannot even define what an assault rifle is to a congressional panel. There is a video about that here on CZcams, where Senator Kennedy is crossing examining The secretary of Homeland security, and telling him he has no faith in his ability to run homeland security. I just read a report yesterday that over 1.7 million illegal immigrants made it into the United States in the last 2 1/2 years. That is an estimated number. There were 3.2 million people beating on our countries door in fiscal year 2023, wanting in from all these cockamamie countries. it sucks. I hate it! wait till they have a kid or two and that number multiplies to 6 million people in this country that do not belong here.
