Yep I earn decent money as a self employed hairdresser but I suffered at the hands of my narcissist ex husband and neglectful narcissist mother so I want to study and be an expert in this field to help others going through narcissist abuse.
Hence phd in psychology. I know its going to be extremely hard but my whole life is consumed by watching and learning about narcissism for the last 5 years so I might as well go learn it properly.

the video is very inspiring ! but i don't quite agree with the opinion that a phd is not a ticket to success. well...i think it depends... in China, a phd is the ticket to work in universities and a sucessful academic career, to a higher position in education, a benchmark to everything.
I disagree with not doing a PhD to advance or make more money. I thought exactly this way and entered industry right out of college with a BS. Now almost a decade later I hit a glass ceiling where esssentially I can’t advance beyond a research associate because I don’t have a PhD and all the higher level Scientist titles or management roles require a PhD…. Don’t listen to this bad advice. Get a PhD then go directly into industry.
I would add, never do a PhD if you wouldn't work on it for free in your spare time
