Page will forever be the best. To me the guy that wrote the riff to stairway is the most skilled guitarist of all time

I thought he “borrowed” that riff? But he couldn’t remember in court?

@@GuitarGodzUnleashedYep. It sounds just like the song Taurus by Spirit. Page was in an accident and said that due to the accident he didn't remember if he ever heard their song😂 Which means he heard the song.

@GuitarGodzUnleashed he didn't barrow anything. Both riffs are completely different from one another and it was even proven so in court. That's not what makes the song so great to me tho, it's pages solo that makes this the best rock song ever created

I think Page heard the song when the band Spirit toured with them in the 60’s. They played it in their set and Page copped it. But I do think what Led Zep “borrowed” they developed and made better in everything they did. A great band and Stairway is a really great song, a classic.

@@GuitarGodzUnleashed there are many people who played it before Taurus it’s just the basic A minor progression played arpeggio it’s a normal concept you come across practicing those chords once you get to a certain level of understanding and Taurus did the most basic version very similar to everyone before them copyright law would actually frown upon Taurus more than Zep because Zeps is more transformative they use more effects and it leads into a much bigger longer more complex song over all and that’s what copyright law says is you can borrow just it must become your own it must be “transformative” its not just that riff and done and they are just using that basic concept as a motif where Taurus the whole song is that riff the A minor chord run that’s the song so if anything they would be looked at as having no ground to stand on because Zeps is very easily recognized as being transformative from earlier renditions plus this just lends to the fact that Eddie could play acoustic and electric at a level nobody else was back then.

There's no comparison. Jimi is the best there ever will be. Imagine what he would have done with technical advancements if had had lived longer.

Page absolutely, Hendrix is overrated people want to pay respect because he died young but Page way better playing plus he could produce understood layering had a much wider range of instruments and effects, could compose and improve, had way more of a versatile and larger repertoire. Page played acoustic and electric, 12 and 6 string, helped pioneer tapping with his multi hammer on runs and slides which he'd play with a slide or use his finger as a pseudo slide, both techniques that would inspire Eddie Van Halen to do tapping like in Eruption and the slides in Beat it. He was on another level, Hendrix could play with his teeth, Jimmy could play a 12 and 6 string with a violin bow....

I don’t know about the tapping, I believe EVH nicked that from somewhere else but just credited Page as the inspiration, I’m looking into it.

@@GuitarGodzUnleashed Eddie is documented in multiple interviews citing his tapping inspiration from seeing the “Heartbreaker” solo in 1971 at the LA Forum with his brother he cites him in an 08 guitar world interview in a 1993 Rock Walk of Fame induction also there are rumors he hated Hendrix playing like he thought he was sloppy but he has never been actually documented saying that.

Hendrix was a better composer too, because he composed instead of plagiarizing and stealing riffs from lesser-known artists.

Page really isn't that great of a guitarist. His music is really easy to play. He might have been good for that time but Hendrix blows him outta the water.

Hendrix is ten fold easier most his songs are three or four chords some fills and a solo once you notice it you realize it’s formulaic like Purple Haze or Hey Joe and his most complex songs add some extra chords to that formula but his songs they are all way shorter than most Zep songs and not as complex as Zep who used all sorts of layering instruments and alternate tunings and techniques.
