So what do you want to do led Zeppelin what is it you guys want to create. Anyone in the band: We want to recreate something from over 60 years ago and make it really sparkly and neat and good and refreshing and hard rocking. So you want to popularize the music is that what we're hearing. Anyone in led Zeppelin: Yes ,,, we like modern music and that's American music so we're going to try to make it sound like we are right there in the delta, of course we're not really from there but we're going to get you to think you are, is the best thing and so authentic,,
I love the pic at the end with Ronnie Wood and Jimmy… although I was very surprised that Jimmy was smoking a cigarette, I was under the impression that he quit smoking around the same time he stopped drinking… although I guess when you’re in the company of notorious chain smokers I suppose it’s polite to partake if offered.
Even Brown or White dope couldn't help richards being a more creative guitar player. Guy opens his mouth when he's not able to do half of Page's work on stage.
All this hate towards Keith. He actually said that Jimmy is Led Zeppelin. He didn't care for Bonham's drumming and Plant's singing... Plant doesn't care for his singing style during this period, either. Keith and Jimmy are absolutely the same in one important and brilliant way. It's their genius ability to hear and layer guitar parts - melding the parts into one. By the way, they both have huge respect for one another as musicians.
Keith Richards couldn't tie Jimmy's shoe laces. People don't realize the amount of work and time Jimmy put into Led Zeppelin!! Keith just showed up high and played, Jimmy was the engineer and showed up high and played!
The reason they spent so much time in studio per day is because they only had 18 days of studio time available. And they didn't want to delay the album release date by months. Si they took the window that they had.
I kind of agree with Keith Richards, there's times I would watch Page live and he was seriously overworked, especially watching him do Achilles at Knebworth, I mean you talk about a sweaty workout
I like the fact that Page played all the guitar parts himself. Bands with two guitarists either box one in to lead and the other to rhythm (boring to listen to each one) or they compete too much (because guitarists) which runs the risk of composition taking the back seat in favour of frettwankery. One guitar bands sound more focused and have more personality imho.
I would have to disagree. Radioheads three guitarists make them the GOAT of today. If that could somehow make sense😂 Led Zeppelin and Radiohead the 2 GOATs. Oh and the Beatles. So's them are the 3 GOATs😂
Reading Richard’s book it is obvious that he has a lot of respect for Page despite not liking Zeppelin and he attributes their success solely to Page which just isn’t the case. All four of those guys were innovators and it took the chemistry of all of them to make the music they did. That being said, Presence is the only album that is entirely guitar centered throughout with Jones not playing anything other than bass.. incredible bass, but none of his keyboard work that is found throughout the rest of the catalog.
In rock there are two camps. The "sophistos" who play more laid back (mature... cough) and try to not have too much emphasis on the sexual element. (Plant). Clapton, The Beatles, The Stones and The Who were in that camp. Hendrix and Zeppelin and lots of hard hitting funk bands like James Brown were on the other side. Both camps were valid. But both didn't get along despite admiring each other's musicianship.
Whenever someone says they didn't like Zeppelin, whether it's Keith Richards, Pete Townsend, Clapton, it's always " They are jealous "... Or they just don't like Led Zeppelin. When I was a teenager I liked Zeppelin, but they are pretentious as hell.. Presence is also their worst album and that says something because Led Zeppelin III exists..
All these people criticizing Zeppelin and claiming that dont like Zeppelins music is ridiculous. Pete Townsend says he doesn't like Zeppelin either. We want to recreate something from over 60 years ago and make it really sparkly and neat and good and refreshing and hard rocking.
So you want to popularize the music is that what we're hearing.
Anyone in led Zeppelin: Yes ,,, we like modern music and that's American music so we're going to try to make it sound like we are right there in the delta, of course we're not really from there but we're going to get you to think you are, is the best thing and so authentic,,
He did take Keith's advice somewhat... When he played with The Black Crowes.
Badass song
I love the pic at the end with Ronnie Wood and Jimmy… although I was very surprised that Jimmy was smoking a cigarette, I was under the impression that he quit smoking around the same time he stopped drinking… although I guess when you’re in the company of notorious chain smokers I suppose it’s polite to partake if offered.
Jimmy did it All, because he can
Even Brown or White dope couldn't help richards being a more creative guitar player. Guy opens his mouth when he's not able to do half of Page's work on stage.
That is why Led Zeppelin... is Led Zeppelin.
Someone not caring for Bonhams drumming is some braindead shit.
I do love Presence, except for 2 songs. Great work for a musician playing with Mr. D
Royal Orleans gotta be one of em. But the others are somewhere between good and great.
Art is not about technique. It’s the soul
Rolling stones are mids. Zeppelin is the goat. Makes sense.
They did have another guitar player in JPJ, but unfortunately, he was also the bass and keyboard player.
Never got the whole Keith Richards is a great guitar player:
Page did just fine.
Great album
If that could somehow make sense😂
Led Zeppelin and Radiohead the 2 GOATs.
My did Richards not like Zeppelin? Page didn't shoplift any Stones music..
I don't believe anyone that says they don't like Led Zeppelin.
Jimmy Page does two guitar players, while Keith Richards can't do one! Brian Jones and Mick Taylor were better Stones guitarists!
Presence was a largely vacuous album recorded when they were burnt out, drugged or traumatised.
Traumatized..😅😅
@@SlickArmor yep, Plant was a wreck, you can hear it in his voice, particularly on Achilles last stand. Smashed up physically.
They had no second guitarist, but Jimmy had a double-neck
Zep did need another guitar player.
No, Keith was amazed at Page. Zep,did not need two guitars..with JP, only one is needed.
Keith Richards didn't like Zepplin: That's why he was at their concert, to make sure he didn't like their music.
"presence" is a great album 2nd only to "physical graffiti", imo.
Jimmy page is god
Keith Richards is only 22 days older than Jimmy Page
Seems Keith was jealous🤷♀️… hard to believe but I’ve heard him in interviews talking about Zep, and to me, he sounds jealous
Achilles last stand is by far there magnum opus.
I think it’s impossible to recreate zep’s studio work in a live show. They should have had a rhythm guitarist
Keith Richards? Who’s that?
Just look at him(Keith) you can see he has no taste😂
Does Jimmy still smoke cigarettes?
All these people criticizing Zeppelin and claiming that dont like Zeppelins music is ridiculous. Pete Townsend says he doesn't like Zeppelin either. So stupid
Zeppelin has more great somgs than the who or rhe stones and to say hendrix was a bettee guitarist to then page is completely wrong. Page is the master
Anthony Taylor fucking teams up on purpose at this point 😂😂😂
Heroin was the other ghost performer guitar player
How can somebody like Jimmy Page and not like Led Zeppelin? Zeppelin stones Beatles, Who Floyd are all at the top of the mountain .
I've counted eight guitars on Achilles
Led Zeppelin is 50 times better than the stones
Keith Richard's couldn't carry Jimmy's jock strap.
