I am in GuangZhou. I understand you don't want to put your kid under too much pressure. In fact, the pressure of the child mainly comes from the parents. If the parents can deal with the relationship with the child wisely, this is not a problem. Children can grow faster in a stressful environment, as long as the pressure is within the right range. It's up to the parents.

    1) Temu is the global version of pinduoduo, of cos stuff there are more expensive in general.
    2) IG/FB isn't even the problem in internet, those aren't even popular for the young now. It's Tik Tok (douyin). Douyin can be toxic but surely not as much as Tik Tok. The bottom line, like it or not, China government have censorship on the internet content and there also regulation in law for how long non-adult can use social media and online gaming.
    3) to be fair, China have as many catfish on internet as other places.

And if your kids want to go to a Chinese University, just remember don't give him a Chinese nationality. A foreign passport makes it really easy to get in a brand university in China.

I would raise kids there for sure. Super safe, so many beautiful parks for children, so many amenities for kids on every corner.
But what I don't stand is education in China where children in public schools don't have childhood at all. There is constant pressure do learn more and more and every minute of free time after school kids use for extra math, science, language classes. I dont want that for my kid.
Then there is another option if you live in bigger cities and that is private school. But they are crazy overpriced in China. Like the average one is more than 30k euros per year...at that is the school where you have at best mediocre teachers. In Dubai best of the best private school cost less than 25k euros and teachers are absolutely amazing(so you know what you are paying for). Swiss International Scientific School in Dubai is less that 100k dirham(25k euros) and kids are learning French, German and of course their science class is top notch.

As you have emphasized, children need a balanced lifestyle for development. If a child is not going to survive in the "rat race elitist" environment in China of 1.4 billion(?) the child can still be educated in China and not necessarily excel in academic studies and exams but engage in physical and sporting activities as well. When the child grows up, if he/she cannot gain entrance into a higher educational institution in China, they can always enrol in one in another country. Emphasis must be explained to the child that excelling in academic studies is not necessary nor the ultimate objective but a rounded education and self development. Living in an environment like China enables the child to be exposed to the prowess of the country's people's ability to innovate, resilient and competitiveness and industriousness to continuously improve and catch up and stay ahead. These are good attributes for children to be exposed to and inculcate.

U.S. HAS THE MOST EXPENSIVE MEDICAL INSURANCE IN THE WORLD

  • @ksenijavojisavljevic2034

Australia has the most competitive secondary graduation examination of two years, of all countries. Very competitive. And yes , most of high scorers that are rising criteria are Chinese students. But it is not a bad thing. It does not affect daily life as you are imagining. My children are now 31 and 35 having their children, finished degrees in sciences, played piano and had plenty of outside and friendship time, even worked long hours for pocket money. I see china has a lot of kids on playgrounds and amazing sport facilities in schools. I think you are making an exaggeration of how schooling is from the point of a parent view , not your job position. It is all normal. It just goes a day at a time and it is normal. And kids do like education as well, it is not something they resist as unpleasant experience. So what I want to say basically is that you are more scared of parenting a school kid than what it ever gets so overwhelming.

Hey I'm Chinese Australian and I think its important you go to China and see for yourself before you pass judgement. I get how the media likes to only focus on the negatives but as someone who's seen both I can attest that a lot of the positives are true, and a lot of the negatives are exaggerated (but still hold some ground as well).
It's important that we don't just let the media decide how we think.

@@lizzyinchina hi, I'm deadly serious. I live in North Yorkshire UK and our local parks are pretty, quiet, well cared for and well used. They all host lively events during the different seasons , and have cafes, bowling green, tennis etc etc. Gorgeous.
I too am really interested in China and its achievements over the last 40 years. I just did a trip visiting Beijing , Chengdu and Lhasa. It was AMAZING .....e loved it. It felt safe, tand felt it was tidy, very cheap (!) And cohesive. BUT I am now home enjoying my garden, english pubs, and all the culture and historic city architecture which the uk has to offer.
However, I do envy the chinese in their chance to be part of a society/ country which is growing and not deteriorating as Europe surely is currently.
For the moment I am happy in my North Yorkshire bubble . Last night we cycled along BEAUTIFUL lush green country lanes, and then ate dinner ( a LOT more expensive than China) in a 17th century pub, came back via the cathedral.
      Perfect.
      You should visit !
In the mean time enjoy all China has to offer.
      I agree , it's good.

Hi, I'm serious! In the UK my local parks are, Valley gardens Harrogate, Bebra gardens Knaresborough and Ripon Spa gardens. Look them up. We have many seasonal events, the facilities are brilliant and varied, and all safe . As a family we spent many happy hours in these parks, and they are beautiful all set in historic settings.
I've just done a trip to China , Beijing, Chengdu and Lhasa. We loved the tidiness, the people, ( especially the people) the scenery . The Chinese should be VERY proud of what they've achieved.its astonishing. I am fascinated by China and over the last 4 years have read 112 books on modern China, and I just ordered 4 more !
However, on my return to the UK I did enjoy my cycle ride to a 17th C pub last night, passing the cathedral on route, then finishing off with wine in my garden summer house.
I found the endless tower blocks quite depressing in China, and felt that in China, parks are essential because of that. I really enjoyed watching all the dance groups in parks tho, if I lived in China I would certainly be part of that !!
      Enjoy China. 😊
