    Hey humans,
    Wow. I am so lucky.
Fagradalsfjall, a volcano near Iceland's capital of Reykjavik erupted just over a week ago.
We have been on standby for weeks now with up to 40,000 earthquakes happening in the Reykjanes Peninsula in the last 3 weeks. It has been a tense time, with photographers and all locals very excited to capture the beauty, but also not knowing how big the eruption will be.
Iceland is a volcanic island so volcanic activity is normal, although this volcano hasn't erupted in 800 years.
Geologists are still trying to understand how long this eruption will go on for, some say days, some say it could be up to 100 years, this volcano marking the start of an eruption era.
Something that has happened in Iceland before, and maybe something that is happening right now.
    Time will tell.
I hope I allowed you to feel what it feels like to be by the volcano, to get a glimpse of the intense energy and awe that I have felt in the numerous times I have been out at the volcano.
Please leave some love on the video if you do and make sure to subscribe for more short films from Iceland.
    Love always,
    Sorelle

Dear Sorelle, thank you for the vlog. One thing that many foreigners might not know is all the people working around this and other dangerous locations are volunteers, coming from all over the country to keep you safe. To all that visit the eruption site; please treat the surrounding with humble respect and take back with you litter (cans, cigarettes, plastic well just everything that should not be there) . Remember the owner lets us visit this site without entry fees, still. Be careful.
Info on search and rescue volunteers:
Independent associations have an extensive role in prevention and rescue work in Iceland. Thousands of volunteers dedicate themselves to work for the ICE-SAR rescue teams, accident prevention divisions and youth sections. Their joint mission is to prevent accidents and save human lives and valuables. In order to fulfil that role there are groups of volunteers always available, night and day, year round.
They have a website that is icesar dot com / association

I am also grateful that in this day and age we can follow your footsteps so closely. It wasn’t long ago that such footage would have required so much more physical effort to take film camera’s up to the location, process then edit the film, and finally print it. The raw, vicious powers of this island constantly remind me that this is the soil I was made from, this is the ground I was born and raised on and therefore these powers boil within me also.
