    First and foremost; I thought it was lovely that you didn't stop the video to remove your daughter, but let her stay with you. This video will be a wonderful memory for both of you. And the, "Daddy I want to shave," comment should wind up in her wedding video of her growing up.
    Secondly, I have used Feather blades for over two years, and I love them. That said, I was gifted my late father-in-laws Pomco Slant, which is a very aggressive shave. It's great for me, with my dark hair and coarse whiskers; however, I'm looking for a different blade to use in it that the Feather.
    This is not the first top five video I've watched today; yet everyone list the Russian Voskhod blades. So, I'm going to see if I cannot find a small pack online and try them out.
    @GeoFatBoy is the only shaving CZcamsr I've subscribed to; because he just talks about the shaving products. No forecast, no movie reviews, no useless rambling to fill up space in his videos. You are on the same par with him. Although I've watched a few of your other videos, I wasn't going to subscribe. But your interaction with your daughter has changed my mind. If you can be this kind of a father, and talk straight shaving business, you deserve a vast following.
    May God bless and keep you,
    Scott (aka Rood67)

    Thanks for a great video! I rotate with Voskhod and Feather blades, depending on which razor I'm using. I live in the far south west of the UK and haven't got many barber suppliers around me, so I get my blades from Ebay. Last year I started ordering 100 Voskhods every month or so. I've got over 1,000 now.They will probably outlast me. Regards from across the pond!

    Recently got a few blade samples and decided to try out the Voskhods - I can tell you I never had a better headshave thus far. They were super efficient and smooth when gliding over my head - no nicks, no problems at all (went BBS).
    Also got the Personnas to try out - looking forward to how they perform.
    Btw I love using a slant on my head - currently it´s the Merkur 37c, but I got a Maggards Slant and a iKon x3 on the way. What is your take on using a slant on your head?

    I've been going through a sampler, and I have the same top 2 as you so far. Going to test durability next time. I still have 1 of each to come back to later. Question for you and any others on your channel. I just bought a box of persona blades on Amazon. They are wrapped in plain white rather than the blue paper I've seen, also the print on the blades is smeared and not neat like I've seen on others (other blade types and some persona blades in videos I've seen). Is it likely they are imitation? They were sold by Amazon, not a private seller.

    I have found the Voshkods to be very inconsistent. Spit 100 with a friend. Several of the packs were just unusable. We both had this experience. The ones that were good were excellent but the bad packs were rough and awful.
    I have to go with Feathers, Rapira Plat Lux, and Astra SS. The Feathers in my Phoenix DOC and the others in the DE89. If the Voshkods were consistent then they would be right up there.

    • @TheCleanShaver
      @TheCleanShaver  Před 8 lety

      Totally fair. The only time Feathers are great for me is either on the second or third use (in just about any razor) or the first time in a VERY mild razor like the DOC.

    I just ordered a sampler pack that includes 4 of the top 5. All I’ve had experience with is Gillette Platinum. How do the blades from this review compare (I have VERY course facial hair, and (at least in my Merkur) they’re not aggressive enough, causing a lot of reshaving, though I only get razor burn when the blade’s a dud (which has been a full third of them).

    • @TheCleanShaver
      @TheCleanShaver  Před 6 lety

      I've never tried the Gillette Platinum, actually. But I'd put good money on the quality and performance of any of these blades. Every now and then, you will get a dud, but they're 99% solid. All sharp (some more than others), and good quality. You shouldn't be disappointed.

Now that I have re-discovered the game though, I am trying staff like a mad man! Screw money saving! I like this!!! To answer to your question, so far, Astra (green) seem to work best on me. Now, I live in Qatar and I have found the following brand: Inglish. No, I have not misspelled it. They are made in India and I bought them for a joke really, but I was hugely surprised. Feather, I am undecided about them, but compared to the Voshkod I have tried, they are super-smooth. I have heard a lot of people saying great things about Voshkod. I am sorry but I don't like Voskhod blades and I think they're in a different level in comparison with the other 4. Voskhod are very mild and for a hard beard like mine, it causes irritation and a gives a bad shave. For some reason they're famous, many wet shavers I know love them however I would prefer Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Stainless or Astra SP in first place... Thanks for the video!

      Totally fair. Many of these blades are a YMMV situation. Thanks for watching!

    Voshkods and Bolzanos do not work well for me, I find Voshkods not sharp enough and Bolzano not smooth enough. I like Feathers second and third shave very much and also Gillette Silver Blue, sharp and smooth. I still can't understand how some people will call the same blade very sharp and others not really sharp, even considering the different razors in which they are used...

    My Pastor gave me 20 Feather blades and I love them, even though I have sensitive skin (but tough beard). So, I have ordered a Feather Popular razor since it is made for medium to sensitive skin and also designed specifically for the Feather blades.
    The razor is cheap (being plastic+metal construction) , so no big hassle if not pleased (ordered from Amazon).

    Gillette Nacet Stainless, & Crystals are my top blades so far with Gillette yellow in 3rd & Astra SP a ways back in 4th. The only blades that pique my interest at this point are Gillette Rubies, Gillette Silver Blues and Polsilvers. Although at 8 cents a blade, and the picture perfect performance I have seen, I'm convinced these Nacets are going to be nigh impossible to dethrone, even by the mighty Polsilvers, GSB or Rubie. I bought 100 Voskods and they seemed awfully dull to me. Sold the remaining 90 on ebay just a couple days ago. I have about 90 or so feathers left out of my box of 100... they seem polar opposites of Voskhods, ie too sharp. They are fun, but very unforgiving. I think of it kind of like a race car, but not a good daily driver at all. Once they are gone, they are gone.... may even sell them.

      I've never had great shaves from Derby blades. At least, never more than once per blade. For me, they aren't worth the money because they don't last as well as others.

    Glad a Russian blade made #1, not because I have a lot of love for Russia, but because they have some darn good blades that can be had at a great price. My first DE razor was a Rapira that came with a pack of Rapira super stainless blades. The combination was a bit aggressive, but Ladas gave a very nice shave with that razor :-)
