All Silas and Amara accomplished was proving that Nina and Paul have chemistry regardless of the characters they're playing against each other. And it's palpable which makes sense because the show wouldn't have worked otherwise. They had chemistry until the very end.

The point of Alaric and Meredith was that they were a ship in the books, not even a main ship, but they still managed to make it happen somehow. They literally did every ship from the books except for Bamon and Matt having a crush on Bonnie. Gee, I wonder why that is.

I don't know what Matt's was, but Bonnie did tease him about posing in his uniform with his gun. It was a cute moment in season seven when they were out hunting Julian's vampires.

Waiiit not me realizing we ship Bonnie with so many people because she IS the heroine of the series. Her confidence, morality, and assertiveness overshadows Elena’s “good girl” character (which barely develops imo). Bonnie is kinda Buffy & Willow coded (my personal favorites from BTVS). For this reason I tend to lean toward female characters in vampire media that actually have AGENCY over their lives/decisions. Elena was deliberately written to not have any agency
They would all have been dead long long ago if not for Bonnie. As my Mum said "she's the smartest, she's the kindest, she's the strongest, she's the hottest".
Stefan's (and everyones) best relationships both platonic and romantic allow him to be true to himself is which my interpretation is he's a well intentional, loyal, noble, and honourable person who has a darkness and is drawn to both light (Caroline, Elena, Lexi) and darkness (Klaus, Katherine). But he himself hates his attraction to the darkness, so he does everything to ignore and supress that part of himself.
Thinking about the way I describe Stefan is also remarkably similar to how I would describe Bonnie. Loyal, noble, selfless, and good person who has a darkness who is drawn to light and darkness.
The biggest difference to me is Bonnie does not have an inherent darkness like Stefan but is something born from her experience where as Stefan just has a darkness, because he's the doppelganger of Silas, and has the ripper gene.
So if we're talking relationships that I think had the most mised potential, yeah it's Stefonnie. I just want them to actually feel like friends, I don't need any more, but I would've like more but just make them to feel like friends. Like between the coffin arc in season 3 and the start of season 8, I don't think there is a single scene with just the two of them. That's not friend behaviour.
Early on the two have high moral, which leads to drama when Stefan goes all ripper, like interesting moral dilemma for Bonnie. (Moral for the show). Like should she save him? Is this person still her friend? How much should Stefan be blamed?
The two also each have a hero complex, willing to sacrifice themselves for others. They would've either made each much better or worse, like imagine a scene where Stefan and Bonnie talk about why they have an intense desire to save people. Stefan talks about attempting to make for his sins and Bonnie talks about something like how her mother abandoning her makes her feel worthless or something like that, and two just agree to start putting themselves first a little bit more, in a positive way.
And those are just of the top of my head. But wasted potential incarnate to me, because like there both main characters for all 8 season, you had over 150 to make then bond, and you don't, WHY?
Like out of what I consider to be the core 5 main characters, Elena, Stefan, Damon, Caroline and Bonnie, they're the only ones without a interesting and deep relationship.
Like even the killing of Enzo and how that affects Bonnie and her relationship with Stefan, or her Caroline and Damon dye to there relationships with Stefan is kind if an afterthought because of how packed the final episodes are, Stefan is human, Kai's back, Enzo "funeral" Defeating Cade, now there's a wedding, Katherine's back, oh Stefan's dead, oh shows ending epilogue time.
Number two, I never noticed but Enzo and Caroline just stop being friends. But yeah, they do. You know them being friends would've made Enzo death even more devastating.
Number 3 Stefan and Enzo, also a relationship that just stop, yes an antagonistic relationship but a interesting one that I wished continued. I like the idea of two characters not liking each other, but due to their relationships with other characters, Damon mostly but also theoretically Caroline and Bonnie, they have like a peace treaty. But they don't like each other so there snarking at each other in a very non-friendly way that just sounds fun.
Number three this is weird because it's a canonical friendship we just never see it; Lexi and Rose. I just want more of them.
Number 4 Kol and Ripper Stefan, they would terrorise the town, hell throw in Klaus and the towns dead in a day. Also Kol is terrified of Silas, so like imagine he's reaction to Stefan being his Doppleganger.
Number 5 Silas and Kai, they would have such fun torturing the gang.
Number 6 Stefan and Elijah, like if we're are talking vampires that could help Stefan find balance it's the perfect noble vampire. Honourable, noble, respectful but ruthless when required.
Number 7 Elena and Rebekah, I think if Elena didn't stab her in the back with literary and figuratively, they could have been friends, possibly good friends.

So about Damon's personally backside and about him not being good without Elena. I hate it. But I do think there's a possible in-verse explanation.
Despite he's confident demeanour Damon is a very insecure person, because well all the people he loves, either straight up or seem to love Stefan more. His father, his mother, Katherine, Elena even Damon himself.
Even when he gets the girl you have the sire bond and then after it breaks you have Qetsiyah and such saying that Stelena is meant to be and destined. So I would say all that makes Damon feel unworthy. So when the one who specifically choose him over Stefan is no longer around, well it may cause Damon to believe he isn't worthy and if it isn't worthy he isn't good.
At least that's how I justify it, it's still dumb.

You know somehow the in like 8×13 or 8x14 where Kai tries to siphon Stefan but can't becayse he's himan got stuck in my head and I don't think the scene makes sense. A.) Stefan has the cure in him and the cure is magical. B.) Stefan is a Doppleganger who are magical creatures.
Also this is more headcanon but C.) Stefan is Silas' Doppleganger, and Silas was witch, and magic is clearly biological as every witch is born to a witch, and doppelgangers should biologically be either Silas and Amara. So Stefan (and Tom) should be witchs at least to me.
Basically Kai should've been able to siphon Stefan.

To return to what I said at the beginning I think the attraction to darkness that Stefan and Bonnie seem to have (even if Bonnie never acts on it) is not a trait I think other characters have.
Elena and Caroline are attracted to either Damon/Klaus and Stefan, but they're not attracted to the bad vampire brother, the big bad hybrid or the ripper (unless there humanity turned off) theylre attracted to the men they are the sweet and caring man, the artist who wants a family and the noble and honourable gentleman.
Damon is attracted to Katherine and Sage but to me he's attracted to their positive attributes their confidence, strength and rebellious, their freedom. While ignoring that there use this traits only to betterment and enjoyment of themselves, and he's manipulated by them and manipulated by Sage in to thinking like she does. Basically he romanised his partners into being more positive for him then they were.
Klaus is in love with Caroline, she's sweetest person on the show, and he's main love interest on the originals is also an incredibly sweet person. Klaus is attracted to people who see the real him, not that he'll ever admit it.
Hell even Katherine who, yes, only truly loves Stefan, and maybe Nadia's father, we know nothing about him. Also I do think she did originally have actual feelings for Elijah, when she was human. Anyway the men she dates none of them are evil; Damon, Stefan, Mason and Elijah are overall good people. (Well for immoral vampires).

dude, i didn't even touch on stefonnie !!! can't believe I left them out, but you're right they are easy to forget because they have the chance for connection but nothing really comes from it. I actually could see this being an interesting ship, especially thinking back to early seasons like when she touches him for the first time and gets the bad vibes - or his connection to grams, too !!!! yes, i agree, i think bonnies darkness comes most notably from touching/working with expression and those lingering affects on her magic. OOF your imagined scene really got me, one of the reasons i love valerie with him so much is because she gets him to open up about stuff, so any relationships that lead to that for him mean more to me.
yeah, we never reach a good point of conclusion on enzos death and its one of the reasons i hate it so much. If you're going to do it, give me the time to process alongside bonnie, let her either heal with stefan or never forgive him, and let me SEE THAT. its just too much crammed into the end of 8 and it leaves things so messy. (thats why on my first watch i was like ?? okay so shes ending up with kai, right ?? because him showing up so quickly after enzo died was wild. like why do that ??? i just dont think enzo should have died, maybe it could have been a really bad attack from stefan, but bonnie is able to save him and that still leads to her fighting with stefan but its less bad lmao because as it is its just not handled well at all).
given how Kat was treated and the way bonnies ships were handled across the board, i wonder if there was something there that they were trying to avoid ?? because bonnie would, personality and story wise, make more sense with him than caroline.
caroline has a really lackluster reaction to tyler dying, too. i think a big problem with this show is SO MUCH happens, and they dont keep good enough track (or care at all) into the tiny details that people watching all pick up on.

You are spitting so many facts in this video! Why can we never root for Damon?! They would build up his character, give him all this development, and then STRIP IT AWAY, and he's back acting like base level Season 1 Damon.... WHY?!? Annoyed me so much. I may be complaining but I swear I love this show.
Also yes to Rose. Love her so so much. She SHOULD have broken the show. Damon and Rose would have been top notch power couple. Plus I don't like when people say "Oh, Elena was the only one who could change Damom, she changed him." Look at the way he treated Rose! So well! Rose had the same impact on him
Bonkai, Bonkai, Bonkai......it's what we deserved. It where it was going, but Julie Plec saw the excitement for it and put the old kibosh on it because "Bonnie is too good and pure." Like she wasn't allowed to stray morally.....Infuriating. That man came back FROM HELL asking if Bonnie missed him. Like, what? That's love right there. He wanted Bonnie from jump and when he got all flustered trying to apologize to her it solidified it for me. I guarantee if she knew that he helped save her when she wanted to kill herself she would not have gone along with Damon's plan to trap her. Why? Because it would have made what he was saying true about changing. It would have meant Bonnie could have hope in him like she did with Damon and there was no way Damon was going to let that happen. I wish they'd have had Bonnie find that out and go back to retrieve Kai only to then find out about the Heretics because it would have been a better way to introduce them. Then they could have fought the Heretics together, maybe Kai still became one somehow and instead of his whole coven dying, Jo would be spared magically because she willingly gave her magic already to Kai making her not quite a witch in the coven anymore. There could have been a loophole is all I'm saying. Then Bonnie could have given him that chance to start over with her that he so desperately wanted. Ugh. We could have had it all.
Edit: I forgot to mention Sheila Bennett literally negotiating to get Bonnie yeeted to the prison world where she knew a certain someone was just chilling. And there was a reason she put Kai in the prison world in the first place too because they could have just killed him. I'm sure Joshua wanted to, but I have a feeling Sheila wasn't about that life so she put him in the prison world. Because make no mistake, that was all her considering it was her spell and her blood needed. She knew that Bonnie would be the key to get them both out so maybe she was hoping that spending time with her granddaughter would be enough to incentivize Kai to come back to humanity so to speak. Because Bonnie is the light, she is the sky moon and stars and such a genuinely kind, caring and compassionate person that if she had learned all about Kai without Damon having been there, there was no way they wouldn't have come out of that prison world engaged to be married.

I've always been of the mind that jo would have been spared if he didn't stab her first, just given that she was magicless. I don't know if they needed her to leave the show, or if they were like hype over caroline/ric having the twins instead, but there were obvious openings to keep Jo around. If the linking spell works the way literally all of the others do, then as leader kai should have had the ability to simply unlink of jo/liv (and anyone else who wasnt responsible for putting him away) and then just take out their dad/the rest of the coven. but that would only happen if Jo is like, the tiniest bit nicer to him. (again i dont think she should forgive him 100%, but even just acknowledging 'i see youre trying, you just cant try with me' would have been enough for him imo). also like ?? it will never cease to amaze me that 1. Bonnie didn't pretend with him in portland in the prison world to keep him calm and get him to trust her or 2. Jo didn't pretend to be chill with him until he left town. I think it comes from neither of them believing he actually does care about them, but come on, ladies, be serious he's down so bad for both of you.
Bonnie and Kol would have been unstoppable. Especially with what we eventually learned about Kol and, much like Klaus, his affinity for witches.......BECAUSE HE WAS ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sorry, but that would have been one of the most chaotic pairings with him teaching her different kinds of magic that he'd witnessed over his thousand plus years. I would have loved to have seen it. I loved that they were vulnerable with each other in those scenes of them on the other side. Bonnie actually got to express how she felt and Kol was unbridled in his vulnerability as well. When he held out his hand to her and said, "Let's do it together." I nearly wept because they could have and didn't get the chance to.
Bonnie and Nora would have been so cute. And talk about two of the most beautiful women casted. That would have been something to see and again.....we have the witch connection. They're witches. Yes, one is a Heretic, but still....if not witch why witch shaped?
Bamon....... This is gonna be long because we ALL know my feelings on that one and this feels like a safe space. They're still my yt icon for crying out loud. I love the pic that you used because it was from one of those moments where they were annoying each other but still bonding anyway. The way Bonnie put on the glasses and then held out a pair for Damon to take.....and he took them and actually put them on!!!!!!!!! So freaking cute. Also, in the final episode, when Bonnie is reminded by Enzo that her passport was in the nightstand.......you can see that the glasses are there too. She brought them back with her from 1994 because her and Damon wore them and it's just too cute for me. Not to mention Bonnie seeking solace in Damon's presence so much that she still lived in the boardinghouse after she sent him back, was driving his car all around 1994, and was wearing his flannel on top of her jacket. SHE LOVED THAT MAN, YOU HEAR ME? SHE LOVED HIM IN A WAY SHE WASN'T PREPARED FOR. And he her in ways he was unaware of. That's why he went so nuts when she was still stuck in the prison world. Homeboy was down BAD to the point he was toting her teddy bear around. When I saw Miss Cuddles sticking out his bag I legit squealed. He's a grown man and a murderous vampire........carrying around his besties childhood toy because he missed her. He had no idea there was magic in it. He just wanted to keep it close to him because of Bonnie and that is too precious for words. The slow march to affection started in season 1 when he thanked her and then later called her a hero even when he found out she backstabbed their plan. She helped with Mason and sincerely thanked her.....again. Damon shows that kind of respect to NO ONE in this series. He actively helped her find a way to fake her death in front of Klaus because he didn't want her to die and then got defensive about it by stating to Elena that he'd always choose her over Bonnie. BS. Cut to season 3 where Bonnie is curious about what kissing Damon might be like given she asked Elena how their kiss was. Not much else really in season 3 other than Damon having full faith in Bonnie's magic. Season 4 y'all wasn't as big either, but homeboy chose to stay on the island to find Bonnie instead of rushing home to comfort his girlfriend. He legit didn't want to leave her behind because, coming from a sired Elena who knew her sire, he actually kind of loved her already at that point. Then in season 5 he was devastated to find out she'd died. There were actual real tears in his eyes. Then they were each tasked with bringing an item that represented Bonnie and he presented her most personal possession, her grimoire. How'd he even get it? That would mean that he was invited into her house at some point because while Bonnie was dead, her father wasn't so the deed thing was still at play. Season 5.....He was so gungho about bringing Bonnie back to life that HE FED KATHERINE TO SILAS. He actually held the woman he'd been obsessed with for over 150 years to the mouth of someone who meant to kill her for good. All for Bonnie.
Seasons six seven and eight speak for themselves, but it should be mentioned that Damon never liked any of Bonnie's love interests. If you paid attention, he was extremely bothered seeing her show affection to anyone. With Jeremy, that face of disgust he had when he caught her and Jamie kissing at the dance, AHEM! KAI whom he wanted nowhere near Bonnie from JUMP. And then there's Enzo. Damon didn't get it, he didn't like it, he didn't want to witness it. Me thinks Damon always had a thing for Bonnie in some fashion, but I can admit to being a little delulu it. I am mad that Damon likely never told Bonnie that Kai was the one that helped save her from killing herself in 1994 which is why she was so okay with stranding his ass in 1903 after wanting to stab him to death. But Damon wouldn't have wanted Bonnie to soften to Kai anyway.

@@fantasyfixations Oops. How did you not know that about Kol? It was revealed on The Originals. It's also what made me salty as hell about Kolvina. Davina was even younger than Bonnie, but was given better treatment and somehow, as a sixteen year old child, was the choice for an Original. Give me a freaking break. The ships on the Originals make me itch though so it's whatever. But when it was revealed Kol was a witch prodigy before Esther turned them I wanted to throw my TV out of the window. Lmaoooo I was sooooooooo pisssed.

I see more sparks and tension with Damon & Bonnie than Damon & Elena
Actually, Katherine's fated generation soulmate doppelganger wouldn't have been Stefan. She was in the 1400s, but because she got banished by her family from Bulgaria due to having a baby at 17 she had met Elijah and Klaus and then had been on the run for years so she never got the chance to meet her fated mated. Same with Stefan hes from the 1800's, he didn't meet his fated generation doppelganger because Katherine found him first when passing through Mystic Falls and then got him killed at 17, which made him turn into a vamp and had gone on his 1st ripper rampage so he didn't meet his generational doppelganger.
Vicki and Jeremy hooked up after his parents died when he was just entering his druggie phase. It was a coping mechanism, both the drugs and Vicki so I don't think that ship was ever on the healthy side considering where it started and why. Plus, Jeremy was underage and Vicki was at least 18 since she was Matt's older sister and the show started with Jeremy being 15 and Elena 17. Yikes.
see i forget how young jeremy is supposed to be because the actor looks so grown at the start of the show and it just gets worse 😂
Bonnie deserved to have one long and REAL romance with a fellow witch. She simply never got to have a romance with a witch outside of Lucas and he was using her. I feel like that's certainly why I feel drawn to Bonkai and Bonora. Even what I felt with Bonkol for a little bit (I watched originals first though so if I hadn't I probably would've felt differently. She deserved to be with someone she shared magic with and who could kinda be a badass witchy pair with. She didn't even really get to be friends with a witch. We got Liv to an extent but it we RARELY had scenes of them together and a good chunk of them was Liv riling Bonnie up and trying to get to Jeremy. Plus she was also using Bonnie. We got 0 scenes with Luke and BonBon too (I think) and it's so sad. Especially because I feel like Bonnie and Luke are both the most powerful witches in their respective times.
I just want more bonding moments of Bonnie exchanging magic info with other witches (learning from each other) but also having another witch to like...take the humongous load off of Bonnie and stand up for her when the vampires are expecting too much from her. Like how Luke did for Liv. Nobody n her friend circle ever really got what it was like to lose you connection to magic and nature. And sure, another witch wouldn't exactly change that. Like, Abby was truly the only one that could actually understand that. But another witch would have known how truly awful that could be and comfort bonnie in ways her friends never really could. It always kinda felt like it was more they just were like "We lost our get out of jail free card :( That sucks." kinda way. Especially with Damon.
Circling back though, the other reasons I really like Bonkai, Bonora, and Bonkol is just because they all have really good chemistry with her. The tension is palpable. Kol less than the others but my GOD. Bonkai & Bonora would both be so shortlived but so so good for at LEAST 4 episodes and it's a tragedy we didn't get either. A bonora fling?? Bisexual bonnie?? Would've cleared up the whole thing where we get Nora coming to the baby shower out of nowhere. Bonnie dating Nora for a while, helping Nora adjust to living in the human world and just mellow out a little...I need that. Nora gaining the trust of the squad and putting them in their place when it comes to their treatment of Bonnie? I need that.
Kai becoming less unhinged of a person but still his silly goofy sarcastic self and slinging zingers at Bonnie as she slings them back? Perfect. Kai encouraging Bonnie's darkness? Perfect. Bonnie going apeshit and Kai watching but the inevitably having to pull her back in because she's going a little too far??? I NEED IT SO BAD. AAAHGGGGG.
I need Bonnie to stand up for herself more and have more crazy moments and I need her dark partner helping her do that and for her to role swap with her dark partner.

I so agree with the desire for "domestic bliss!". It could have happened! There is always plenty of external conflict going on that we don't need internal conflict! I wanted more of happy Stefan and Damon, more of happy Elena and Damon, and more of happy Stefan and Caroline. More of happy Damon and Alaric too honestly. I remember the scene where Damon says "I'm happy" in bed with Elena, I rewatched that three times because I KNEW it would be one of the only such moments. It did get extremely old the constant breaking up and re-breaking up of both Delena and Steroline.

They have familial ties that date back to when Klaus was human, Klaus was written as a character that always had an affinity for witches. Likely because he manipulated use of their magic, but given how Greta was giving him the eyes, I have a feeling his relationship with witches were at times mutually beneficial. He was born a wolf (you know what I mean) she was born a witch and it would've have been nice to establish some sort of connection between witches and wolves, bar the Originals and what became of THAT. Bonnie is also the only one aside from Esther who came close to actually killing him and he never even retaliated. Not a scathing word or a threat, NOTHING. He literally never harmed her again or even tried to. She is THE Bennett witch and you mean to tell me Klaus wasn't attracted to that power? Her name alone is legend and he just wasn't interested? How sway? Even the actors wanted these two to be together and I remember Joseph Morgan even admitting to actively trying to get people to ship them. I swooned every time he tweeted about them working together, which he did almost every time they did because I personally think he was smitten with Ms. Graham, but that's a conversation for another day. Just look up the Koseph tag on Tumblr if you're ever curious.
But yeah, bestie, I loved them in fanon and still to this day am bowled over by their fanfictions because the writing is not only exemplary, but it validates my opinion of their being great potential.
