Did you know that you can countersink screws? Will prolly do that for the next Pinewood track.
Wheres D 😭
Countersinking is great for wood, and even thicker aluminum 6061. Countersinking allows for the head of screws or bolts to remain flush with the material and allow for better fastening and a smooth surface that can be painted to coated if needed.
😅😅😅
I've been watching for a long time but can y'all play D&D again that was awesome back then please y'all would have so much fun
So that’s why it was bucking so much.
YOU CHALLENGE ME?!! So be it...
YESSSSS
Yuhhhh
Wren: "I 3D printed ..."
Me : of course you did
Hahahahahahhahaha truuuuuuuue
I was impressed it didn't have a camera set to a VR goggle
I AM AWAITED!
Wren has a new challenger
I would pay money to see Adam Savage do this with the corridor crew
Dude's a busy man.
hes already with them (jarret)
cosmiceyness He truly is a discount or stunt double Adam Savage 😂
Nah man. Mark Rober! ❤️
Try Donut Media too
Super cute that Jake's daughter picked a truck to be their car, just like Jake drives a truck. That's some super child love magic right there.
she didn't he made the design his daughter picked the colors.
@@MaxiForOperatorNRG Whether true or not, let us believe
Love how Clint's 'last place' car also looks absolutely amazing, AND, he smokes half the competition and gets super invested in it.
Children's Pinewood Derby at 10 years old: Your dad's design helps you win
Adult's Pinewood Derby at 30+ years old: Your child's design helps you win
How Ironic
Me: Wren's an engineer. He's got this in the bag
*Sees Wren's car*
Me: Oh, he's going to lose in the first round...
Well his car probably had the best chances since it weighed the most
@@xenoraijin weighing most is not only the thing there are several matter which factor like friction or wheel position centre of mass and centre pressure and all those
while even the winner car was not best as to determine by these criteria it could have been better if your car is heavier at back and then making your car aerodynamic and then most likely reducing friction at wheel junction by putting graphite or some thing like that
i hoped wren being an engineer should have known these would have created best car and won but i was damn wrong
by the ways has wren ever won anything ranging from impersonator to those garry mod mario kart race
but i still like his charecter hope see him winning in future
He was probably too busy wrendering
SPACEX I thought Galileo proved that weight had nothing to do with the speed at which something was pulled down by gravity.
SPACEX remember? He dropped a 5 pound ball and a 10 pound ball and they fell at the same rate.
Jake being the Dad of the group warms my heart, deserves a win for those adorable kids and spending time with them as a loving father PERIOD
The Dad Energy with Jake has been strong lately
As a fellow Dad, I applaud him
@@listlessh didn't even see he won before commenting that lol child magic!
You stop watching node for a month and all of a sudden there's all these new people and like "who are you"
"I don't even know who you are."
true im also missing brandon and d
"The second collapse of the Roman Empire" Nick is killing it, hands down best moment
He has a lot of history jokes. Even on Corridor Crew channel. Is his major history?
So I notice there were a lot of cars jumping track, and I think it might come down to a weight problem. In the pinewood derbies I did, they have a scale and weigh every car, and make sure they all weigh the same, with little flat silver weights or drilling a hole (if you are over weight) so they might weigh too little to stay stable
EDIT: Watching a few more races, it might just be the janky track, not put together smooth enough so the cars all seem to jump in the same spot at a point where the two track pieces meet
We were rushing to build a track very quickly, as the renting services for Pinewood tracks were not getting back to us in a quick enough manner. All the cars were under 5oz (we weighed them), but we didn't mandate that everyone used pine as their car body so long as they used the base kit in a meaningful way.
Could be a weight thing, I remember having to weigh my car too, but I'm more leaning towards them using protruding screws to hold the track guard rails down. Once the cars hit those screw heads, even with the aluminum tape over them, they went flying! If they changed those pan head screws out for countersunk screws and countersunk the aluminum trim so they're flush with the surface all the way down, it would not only decrease the drag introduced on the cars, but also greatly increase speed and downforce via the g forces put on the car by it traveling down the concave curvature of the ramp. Maybe they should try both the track adjustments and a more even weight across all cars, or even have different weight classes! I miss Pine Wood Derbies, they were so much fun!, but they also taught me a lot about physics, mathematics and scientific properties. They also taught me a lot about safely using hand tools, power tools, and caused me to actually think about what I was doing before I did it, and what the outcome would be. I credit a lot of the creativity I have today, to what I learned and how I learned them when I was younger. Also, summer camp craft activities are great too! We need more fun, practical and educational lessons like these in our education system. I work in a school system, and I'm constantly seeing less individual creativity and free thinking, and being replaced my hive mind teaching, and everything is online! Say goodbye to dexterity and penmanship! Okay, there was a bit of a rant at the end there haha, but Pine Wood Derbies are great fun and an excellent teacher!
@@Node First off *Fangirl SQUEEEEE* Hi Node.
That makes sense, nothing wrong with a jank track, makes it more fun, Chaos Theory for the win
Derby cars are weighed so that no one has an unfair advantage based on the weight of their car.
Mark Rober's video about derby cars has a lot of information about how to make a better car, but it is all thrown out the window because of the track imperfections.
Clint: I'm going to add sails to make it as slow as possible
Aerodynamics: What are these like 17 spoilers?
So wait, did the position of the sails improve his car's downforce?
@@BulletFodder80 Due to their agressive angle, I recon that they rather made the backend loose downforce.
mark rober would the most over engineered block of wood
Actually he made a pine wood derby video, you may have seen it, and in that he made the most under engineered car and won

Christian is so cute 😂
I love that Jake got to tell his daughter later that day that the car she helped make won the tournament.

“Snape kills dunbledore”
Now that’s a spoiler
“That child magic kept the car glued to the track!”
Meaningful
After enough Boy Scouts you learn to fear the power of Pinewood Derby Child Magic.
Well clint used blood magic
The "Sam's Spoiler" bit was hilarious, I can't believe Clint's intentionally "last place" racer did that well. The list of CZcamsrs you want to race is legendary, it's like almost every youtuber that has ever built anything and then some.
(Also: the thought occurred to me while reading the comments: Maybe do this again with 3D printed custom cars.)
Remember when they were experimenting for the Self driving car video? That teapot car is a winner.
Not everyone here seemed to be into pinewood derby to begin with but I like how they all were able to get into it now as adults and have a lot of fun with it in the end! :)
I love how you can see everyone's personality in their cars so well
I’m so happy Jakes daughters truck won that!
Hey! Spoiler alert!

Sam: "How can we make this tiny wood car go as fast as possible?"
Clint: *_No_*

(surprised pikachu face)
0:18 The girl on the right, has the same exact smile of my wife.
She was Czech and passed away 5 years ago from brain cancer. And just seeing her smile again made me cry so bad.
Me and my brother won every year with designs similar to Nick and Jerrett's. It's not about aerodynamics, it's about getting the weight exactly to the allowed limit, placing the weight as far back in the body as possible, and rubbing the axles with graphite. Thanks for being an engineer dad!
Lol "Rey of Jakku's grandfather is Emperor Sheev Palatine." Idk why, but those hidden messages had me laughing
because it flashed up whilst Sam said spoiler?
That's great
They say with the skills we know now. I feel like this is exactly what I did when I was younger.
Sam: the try hard kid who wants to win really bad
Everyone else: Cool car go brrrrrr
Clint: The kid who didn’t care
Micah Frickel clints the kid that does nothing for the project but gets all of the credit
@@evanmartin3566 Clint's car/ship had more work than other's car.
I did these races as a kid back in cub scouts. Great nostalgia here! One thing I would mention is that the cars generally won due to weight, which is why it is regulated at pine wood derbies to be the same among cars, and I saw that Jake's car had a little metal bar on its back which reminded me of putting coins on or under cars to reach that weight number if you were below the minimum weight. I figure it was the weight, plus a little child-like magic that won the day.
At the moment Jake says "HEY", I thought his gonna do another sponsor segment haha xD
Dude, Mark Rober had a whole episode on these things
Child magic definitely brought a win.
Love coming back and watching the new node videos. So much has changed from the early node days 🥲
When you're a kid, it's literally just your parent making it for you and then MAYBE they let you paint it at the end. lol I did this every year as a kid for Christian club called AWANA. This brought back a lot of good and terrible memories.
I remember doing this as a kid in cub scouts, this was amazing to watch thank you node.
The shark car is amazing to me, because I took part in exactly one pinewood derby-style thing for school in my life, made a shark that looked almost EXACTLY like that one, and it performed exactly as well.
Jake should have renamed his car “child’s magic”
Back in the day I remember I made an APC for my derby car.
The kid that won the design part was the son of the dude that put on the competition. His car was literally just a block of wood covered in glitter.
The dad was going off on how creative it was and how long it took his son to make. While most of us had dope looking cars, from hot wheels lookalikes to the bat mobile.
A lot of parents got mad and the dude straight up left before the bbq started.
Dude seeing wren rage with the muffled anger behind his mask made my day😂
GO NAT GO!
Onewheel an honorable loss to a child’s magic
Omg
!OG TAN OG
Is Nat a boy or girl?
That list of youtubers at the end literally has almost all the channels I watch regularly.
This brought back so many memories holy shit. When I was in cub Scouts many years ago, I managed to take third place in my state finals for pinewood derby. Thank you for the nostalgia
Wren's car reminds me of Sweet Tooth's ice cream truck from Twisted Metal
Should try making a huge hot wheels track and see whose car actually makes it to the end p.s love you guys
Jake: "This win was sponsored by Squarespace"
Super excited when I saw the pencil car. I designed my own pencil car in 1986 after my cub scout pinewood derby was already over. So I never got a chance to actually see it come to life!
Ray of Janku's grandfather emperor sheev Palpatine. who survived the events of the return of the jedee by creating a Peter clone body and transferring his soul into it. This writing has made a lot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move

Grats Jake. Pinewood champion and office Rock. Your on a roll
Need them to do this again - Clint vs Wren on this is one of my favorite corridor crew moments
The child magic is strong with this one...
I saw Gus Johnson. Would be absolutely hilarious with him and the other chip boy.
This is one of the few videos of yours I’ve watched from finish to end. Very entertaining
This is awesome y’all need to do this again
michael reeves would probably make his own car explode
And taser you

I’m very happy that Jake’s won because I can imagine him telling his daughter that her and his little derby car won and the excitement that she might feel about that
Jordan: You sabotaged my victory?
Died laughing.
Track needs a tinker and this needs to be redone!
I've done 3 pinewood derby races myself. First one was a state board. Then a drag racer car that I won 2nd place with. And finally I made the mach6 from speed racer
Love the Hitchhiker’s Guide nod in the second “spoiler”.
Lmao I love the spoiler to Rise of Skywalker. You guys thought I wouldn’t see it, didn’t you?

Was rooting for Jake as soon as I saw his design. Glad he won that one, though don't know you can say childhood magic is a competition legal component!
Oh man Jake's kids gonna be so happy when they watched this. Amazing.
You guys should totally play among us it’s really fun and would work great for the channel
Jarretts car was the most beautiful
It did win a design award back in 1993!!
JarrettOriginal if not for the janky track pretty sure that beauty would have won haha
I did something similar as a kid with my dad and the other car focused families called Valve Cover Racing, where you take an old valve cover and do basically this with adding wheels etc.
I remember doing these as a kid. Man you guys are bringing back memories. Also Jake, once again, proving to be the best member of the crew XD
Also shoutout to Jarrett
I don’t know why, but I felt a strong connection to Jarrett. I wanted him to win
Some might say you're angry Jarett didn't win
