In this episode we’re replacing the spark plugs, distributor caps, rotors, and then valve cover gaskets. We’re finally starting to put some of this back together.
Thank u for showing me how to work on this engine, I have a 95 993 C2 that I just bought and haven’t addressed maintenance yet. Building the suspension, exhaust and audio at the moment, the mechanics show strong currently for the time being. I just subscribed!
I’m glad it’s helping someone! I have a 1995 993 C2 coupe as well that we’ll be working on next. It’s taken longer than we wanted, but it’s coming along pretty well. That one we’ll be doing an engine out as well but we’ll do all the upgrades (cerakoting the fan & chain covers) refinishing wheels, stage 2 exhaust, sort shift, etc
Cool!!!...friend helped me to do the lower gaskets with engine on the car so with a bit of difficulty ...will do the top , wires and spark plugs on next exercise.
These came from PelicanParts.com, cause that was the best price. For this job I got parts from sun coast Porsche as well. Just be sure to buy Porsche parts
Just over 40k miles on this car. I took out the motor to do the clutch and replace the valve & chain cover gaskets. While I'm in there, it seemed silly not to do all ignition parts (plugs, wires, etc.). 25 year old car no matter the miles has some seriously degraded plastic and rubber parts.
Let me bug u once more..after messing around with my fan it looks like I could do the spark wires/plugs with the engine on the car...there are some grommets on the wire kit are those slide thru or is there some weirdy thingie to get those worked out?
It’s not bugging at all. The spark plug wires just pop off the plugs themselves and then are routed through wire hold downs and through rubber grommets in the engine pan. The grommets in the pan can just be pushed out. Is that what you were looking for?
Great question. I looked at the billet aluminum ones from rennline, but honestly they’re just cosmetic. The stock ones perform fine and don’t leak if installed properly. Here was my math…. For the $325 I could spend on valve covers, I picked up a set of turbo twist wheels which will look way better cosmetically. But… to each his own! Either way, thanks for tuning in
@@beardedgarage You did the righting not putting billet covers on, waste of money and non original. I think it was a bit of a fad 993 owners went through. sadly I was suckered, in, I threw my original covers in the bin...........what a numpty!!

it's a heck of a job in the car. I'm only doing it with the engine out because the clutch is completely shot too!
@@beardedgarage it was not as hard as they made it sound to be the driver's side gave us an issue but managed it just put up a video of the exercise.
Where did you get your new spark plug wires? I need a new set too.

Well done! Curiously, how many miles were on the various ignition component's?

Thx I appreciate it... just wanted to make sure
Even though it wasn't shown, I'm sure those plugs had some anti-seize on them. Right?
It's my understanding absolutely not to use anti-seize on the threads.
Why wouldn't you buy new covers?!? Even billet aluminum?

@@TylerDurdan241 I was leaning the direction of new billet covers and my local restoration mechanic who's a good friend told me I was pissing away $.
