Controlling the Black Point

  • Some times we all experience a wide brightness range in our images even if we have used filters. Often of concern is the white point and clipping highlights. In this video we explore the black point and clipped shadows as an issue.

    Great stuff thank you Paul. Very informative. What I’ve tended to do in these situations is to use the selective adjustment brush on the black areas, then use the blacks slider to bring detail back. The I use the range mask/luminosity to control the area affected.

    Hi Paul, thanks for pointing this out. There are some images that go "muddy" this will hopefully help me sort the problem. A prosperous 2021.
