The inspiration behind this video:
House of the Dragon season 1, episode 5 was officially Milly Alcock and Emily Carey's final outing, but despite the recasts the show can still bring the younger Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower actors back. Alcock and Carey have been a big part of House of the Dragon season 1's success, as their performances as Rhaenyra and Alicent, respectively, have been two of the show's most compelling, and their characters' relationship has been at the heart of its story. The latter will undoubtedly continue through the rest of House of the Dragon's episodes, but the former won't, as the duo will be replaced by Emma D'Arcy (as Rhaenyra) and Olivia Cooke (as Alicent).
Thankfully, House of the Dragon gave Alcock and Carey quite the exit to go out in. Season 1, episode 5 was among the show's most explosive, with several shocking twists occurring at the wedding of Rhaenyra and Laenor Velaryon (Theo Nate). It was a shocking note to leave things on, with Rhaenyra and Alicent's friendship more fractured than ever and seemingly well beyond the point of no return, and that will feed into its time jump. House of the Dragon season 1, episode 6, will skip 10 years ahead, explaining the introduction of D'Arcy and Cooke.
House of the Dragonâs first season will have ten episodes, each of which will run for roughly one hour. Season 1's tentative schedule is as follows:

I'm glad Rhaenyra said this. Alicent has been pretending to be oblivious and righteous for long enough. She wears this mask, and it is being unveiled. She knew she was seducing a grieving man, her bestfriend's father. And despite her theatrics, she even intended for Harwin Strong to be burned alive. She has held a lie against Rhae for 10 years as if she herself isn't deceitful. Now she plans to use her climb to power, Aegon, as a weapon against the one true friend she's ever had. I wonder if she planned this as she helped Rhaenyra get dressed for her crowning in episode 1. The Hightowers - Like father, like daughter.

Yes, lets put a grown man pimping his teenage daughter out to another grown man on the teenage daughter. And there is nothing on the show to suggest she wanted Harwin killed, in fact the writers make it clear both in the episode and in interviews that she didn't. How was she decietful? By not telling Rhaenyra about her meeting with the king? That's the only thing I can think of and THE KING himself told her not to talk to Rhaenyra about it. And Rhaenyra was anything but a good friend to Alicent, dropping her just because Alicent, as a young woman in a medieval society, had no choice but to marry her father. And then treating her poorly for years afterwards. And yes, teenage Alicent, as she helped Rhaenyra dress for her crowning, was definetly planning on marrying a rotting old king and having her future children in a precarious position because of who they were born to, I mean who wouldn't want such a glorious future.

Alicent lied to her as well she has no right to claim sheâs innocent she could have told Rhaenyra from the beginning she was with her father. Her house is power hungry. I am not team Rhanerya but god I hate Alicent. She is the reason this civil war started. She resented being political pawn and the freedom Rhanerya had. But in the same vein she resents her father being sent away due to his political scheming that she also suffered from. Like girl, your father started it all. Just stop putting blame on others when he is the reason you are unhappy and yet you hate it when he gets fired over it.

Damn Otto really messed Alicent head up. Yeah, Alicent felt betrayed by her friend. However, he planted the seed that her friend will kill her kids which wouldnât be the case. Itâs like what the King said the House must stand together. It doesnât matter how the other lords would have felt. They have like 50 dragons, they bend the knee just like they did with AegonâŠ. The Targaryens downfall were that subjected themselves to Westoros politicsâŠ. Like Lady Oleynna said, youâre a dragon, then be a dragon. Daemon needed to be the hand of the king not some lord.

This House of the Dragon is better than GoT last season. More exciting and the story is more developed. Nobody rushes with the plot. Dae and Rae will make a good couple. Evil Queen and Christian - what characters! She didnât want to marry him, so what? If you love someone, you donât plot against them. She didnât force him to sleep with her and yet he blames her for it.

Either Rhaenyra or Halaena being queen would not make much difference for Aegon II , both are his sisters. Viserys could have solved this civil war by many ways ,
1. Not marrying Alicent.
2. Announcing Aegon II as the heir.
3. Marrying Rhaenyra to Aegon II.

Viserys is a weak king and I cannot understand why he lets his wife wear green and disrespect his daughter and heir. And why he agrees to the hipotetical marriage of his grandson and and his daughter who are uncle and nephew but didn't think of that when it came to Rhanerya and Daemon. He is blind to the rivality between his daughter and wife
He denied Daemon and Rhaenyra because he thinks Daemon is after his crown and doesn't want to place him even in the position as King consort. He ONLY named Rhaenyra his heir because he didn't want to see it go to Daemon.

He does a lot of questionable stuff, but he didn't let his wife wear green, she didn't tell him. She had avoided him all day and then showed up midspeech, he couldn't dismiss her then and tell her to charge because the whole room had already seen her and it was too late. Also Rhaenerya and Daemon a good couple? Literally two famously selfish and impulsive people. Rhaenerya and the father of her children was a good couple, he was stable. Fire and fire is a bad mix. Don't get me wrong, Alicant is a nutjob consumed by bitterness. But the show is a story with no winners, and one big loser, House Targaryan. The House will be permanently weaker after this.

Alicent and Rhaenyra bickering is to be expected. Alicent is right about Rhaenyraâs illegitimate children, but he doesnât have the heart to kill the kids. He willfully ignores it, in the hopes of staying together as a family. Heâs a good guy.

In the comments people still can't understand why criston Cole hate rhaenyra. It's not because he is Heart broken or was in love it's because she has play with his oath and honor. Being a king's guard was the greatest thing that has happen in his family all that effort to see rhaenyra play with it during one night. He hate her because he is seeing someone that doesn't follow rules and is using others people to get what she wants. That's why he was talking about the spider. Also he doesn't hate her childrens but he hate people that doesn't follow rules so harwin strong and rhaenyra and daemon. He was hard with jace to see if harwin would do something because criston cole know deep down that harwin has something to do with the childrens.

Alicent is also a prisoner in Golden chains. She resents the fact Rhaenyra is slept around when she knows she couldn't get away with it. So I can say that I have sympathy for both woman at the same time. Screw teams.
Alicent is taking it beyond bitter though. Her original reasons for becoming so angry held no weight. 1. She forgets how hurt Rhaenyra was when she was secretly dating her father and then MARRIED HIM. And 2. Rhaenyra didn't actually sleep with Daemon - so for Alicent to take some kind of bitter pathway because Rhaenyra slept with someone else is just super hypocritical. I feel sorry for her - her marriage is rough. But, to cause a war over these details is petty and stupid.

I've been waiting to see the episode Alicent pulls a dagger on Rheanera
It seems the line shared between both Rhaenerya and Laenor about doing their duty and having fun on the side didn't last long after Joffreys death. I wonder how much would've changed if the first heir was Laenor's with the rest being bastards, especially in regards to Rhaeneryas proposal of marrying their first born son to Alicent's daughter.
The conflict is brewing and I guess both sides have made 1 step to far to turn back now.

My god, many people act like Alicent had any say in her ascension to power, and that she is evil by nature. Have you been watching at all?
I never had any problems with her for the first five episodes, quite liked her actually. She seemed very much on Rhaenyra's side.
But I didn't like her one bit in this episode. Her father definitely had some influence on her.

I was on Alicents side at first. She did nothing wrong and rhyanerra was kinda a selfish thought she could do whatever she wanted brat. But now Alicent is kinda just going off the deep end a bit.
