  • Automatic Park, Active Park Assist, & Self Parking are all things Volvo had in mind when they developed the Park Assist Pilot for the 2020 Volvo XC90 T6 AWD Inscription. The Volvo automotive brand was the only manufacture which provided the parking assistance as standard equipment on its 2018 & 2019 model XC90, S90, and V90. For 2020, this parking feature is now optional. At a cost of $200, I think it is well worth.

    I’m currently contemplating purchasing the XC90 and I’m very interested in tech which will help me drive. I’m disabled, so this will help me massively. There seems to be a lot of negative comments about this feature, but I think it’s brilliant. I have a saying, “let the tech do the work for you” that’s what it’s there for. Thumbs up to this video, extremely helpful and very well demonstrated. Thank you. - Neil (UK).

    Great demo Alton and very much appreciated. I just purchased a 2021 S60 T6 Inscription and it has the Park Assist Pilot. I haven’t tried the park assist yet (I’ve only had the car for a few days) but must admit, I’ve been a little scared to try it. After watching your video, I plan to try it out the next time I’m out and about.

    Love love LOVE the XC90 😍😍 We've rented them a few times but the ones we had didn't have this feature (we wanted to try it out so bad). It did have the adaptive cruise control though, and we loved using it.

      Tahreem - it's great to hear that you enjoyed it. Most 2020 model XC90's will not have the Park Assist. Most people dont use it, but I engage it every time I park. Keep watching. Your pic is beautiful.

    Can you use this feature in a tandem garage? Can it detect walls and park or does it need cars on either sides? Also what if you are but farther from the parking spot, can you stop and tell it to park or does the car have to detect the spot itself and then only takes over ?

    Will this work in an empty parking spot or does it need to use the other cars to judge the spacing?

    • @littlemisshappy2002
      @littlemisshappy2002 Před 3 lety +3

      I tried in an empty space and the car told me to park myself 🤣 so I assume it needs the other cars to figure it out.

    This is the most comprehensive description I've seen so far. The system is quite slow and limited, and requires too many actions on driver's part to be really useful. And since it's bound not to be used often, the driver is likely to not trust/fumble when attempting to use it. It needs to be fully automated and provide more visual feedback IMHO.

  • @santtilagmailcom
    @santtilagmailcom Před 2 lety +1

    That system sucks. No wonder nobody is using it. I’m planning to switch my E-Class All-Terrain to XC60 T8, but that feature looks to be totally useless in a Volvo. In Merc it’s actually fairly nice system. All you have to do in a Merc is to switch to reverse when the system finds a parking spot and let the car do its thing.

    • @TheRed14Devil
      @TheRed14Devil Před 2 lety +2

      Such feature is for people that cannot park, like most women :)

    • @chrisnelson9738
      @chrisnelson9738 Před 2 lety

      Volvo is just trying to keep the driver involved and help them, instead of taking over for them completely. It's probably less stressful that way for a lot of people. In a car that does it all for you, when it fails and hits somebody else's car, you're still going to be to blame legally anyway. For that reason, it's best to actually be involved and paying attention. It's pretty much like the lane keeping feature, which will actually maintain your lane all by itself, but if you don't keep at least one hand on the wheel, it will bitch at you.

      Christopher - You have to remember most adults have rode a bicycle in 10 to 20 years. Parking it would be a challenge for them as well
