Best songwriter alive today. I imagine Elliott Smith playing this and it being one of his best and most loved songs.
In my opinion Adrianne is a prodigy...and on her way to becoming a cultural gem. I believe soon, more and more will applaud her band's great work, her marvelous guitar playing, and genuine song making ability.
well she’s been fingerpicking since she was six so i’d say she’s got enough practice time to be considered a prodigy. and she’s been writing since she was at least 17
i know we all see it but i just want to praise the brilliant and beautiful wordplay of "forwards beckon rebound" and "two reverse"

Beckon, or to invite over, is a less common word in regular use, so when you first hear the song you hear it as "forwards, back, and rebound". Same with Two Reverse, which i'm sure most people hear as "two rivers" the first time.

@@hissorchid I love her wordplay so much!!!!! didn't even notice these; there's also one in 'not a lot, just forever', where "pair of dice" sounds like "paradise", which I think works so well in the rest of the song
I love her voice so much. This song gives me a very warm feeling even though it's sad. Also, her guitar work is superb.
