The stereo was on pretty loud and when this track came on after several minutes of silence I was caught completely off guard and nearly jumped out of my skin. Needless to say it was an exciting moment.
For a long while after that my friends and I examined every CD we bought for 'hidden' tracks.
I think there were ways to hack red book CD indexes such that you could make a track accessible only by seeking backwards from the start of the following track or skipping backwards from it.
Those were the days.
Same thing when I first bought this and let it play after hearing it for the first time (in awe of the album) and it freaked me out, but loved it.
Queens of The Stoneage had that on there Album Songs For The Dead. There is a secret track you have to rewind from the very start of the album to get. The first song basically starts with background noise and the album starts after the noise stops and the actual song starts.

This song was a random jam that broke out when they were trying to record “Lithium.” Kurt was so frustrated with their lack of progress that he spontaneously started playing this song and Krist and Dave joined in. The lyrics were made up on the fly.
“Endless, Nameless” appeared as a B-side to the “Come as You Are” single. On most pressings, the song was also included on the 1991 album Nevermind as a hidden track, following ten minutes of silence after “Something in the Way” ends.

This song is so scary. I don’t know why but i just feels like it’s cursed. It so bizzare and incoherent. 0:45 part is also just so disturbing. It sounds so schizophrenic and twisted in a way. @@captige8356 Interesting

Yeah, kurt just started making a beat and then krist and dave joined in
I know that some people say that it has not meaning like it is the music representation of anger but every time I listen to it I imagine a soldier fighting in the war and crying for help. When he says “mama” the soldier cries for help for his mom and he’s scared and kinda like remembers her. And then the “violence, excitement, death…” its literally the representation of the war and what the soldier sees and hears constantly to the point his mind hurts (when the guitar is randomly played after the signing symbolises this mind pain). The guitar literally in some parts sounds like gunshots and explosions. Full of dread and agony. Also the guitar being smashed in the end I feel like it is the representation of a breakdown or corpses being walked on. Also when it does the final loop of the guitar hitting floor repeatedly for me it symbolises how the pain and trauma accompanies the soldiers till their death (gradual descent of the sound till the songs ends). Pretty scary if you listen to the song but thinking this way, especially the end. Lol even the “No mas” literally means no more in Spanish.
Perfect
Cool interpretation!
this interpretation actually matches really well with the song name “Endless Nameless” too. idea that the pain of war is endless and the soldiers die nameless
@@Inkypencil22 bro accurate description 10/10

Six minutes and forty four seconds of the greatest sounds ever created by human beings.
My first music memory at 2 was to this album in the background as I drummed on the basement steps. My uncle and his friends had no idea I was outside the room listening to what the older kids were into.
There was even a tapestry of christ down there that while the music still played i was mesmerized by...later on the irony of that was poignant with Kurt's pisces thing and the sacrificial aspects to both their natures.
I can recall years later in my teens laying in bed thinking the album ended on such a quiet but solid note... then this tune blasted into my headphones and blew my mind.
Now with the advent of The Batman I'm back here again facing life differently but with the same sounds guiding me in new directions.

Is it weird that this song almost scares me, but in a good way? Less than halfway through the track the singing suddenly just stops with the word "dead" and the already uncomfortable-sounding instrumental just gets more and more deranged while also losing the gentler-sounding portions that usually interrupt. It doesn't only sound like rage but also feels like descending into some kind of dark hell, drowning in your own suffering completely and utterly alone. I've heard some heavy music before but this is the first song I've heard that actually gave me a genuine feeling of unease. Really shows how Kurt is a musical genius even when he's seemingly just raging in a studio.

The reason for recording the track is due to an instrument malfunction while attempting to record "Lithium." The song shows the opposite effect of most of the band's work on the album. During the verses, Cobain screams loudly. However, the chorus' are quiet and calm. Most of the song is a jam that the band puts very little effort into.

When I was a teenager I had spent a lot of time in juvenile hall. They had these old mp3s where if u were behaving well you could spend points to plug into and listen to music. Well I was a big fan of nirvana as I still am. On the track Something In The Way on the mp3s, this would come on after a good long time of the song ending. I still remember to this day how I always assumed the extra playtime was just a screw up on the recording of the download for the song, only to be doing my homework in the pod one day distracted by the essay at hand and all of a sudden it starts playing this… I was so freaked out and the chills I got were crazy, especially when the first Small Clone chorus pedal hit. It felt… almost evil in a way! I never knew the name of the song till I just did some extensive research. Fucking awesome that I’ve found it
Can someone tell me, how did Kurt those legendary sounds with the guitar do?
smashing it
Seems like a whammy bar, think he detuned his strings then he bent them super hard and sounds like lots of chorus but I could be wrong idk
Multiple pedals, hitting or smashing or banging it against something while playing . But more likely , he was a master of the feedback. He knew where to stand and how close to be to the amp the get the right feedback sound at any specific moment and more importantly, how to get it to stop at the exact time he wanted it to. Not an easy thing to do. Takes alot of practice and knowledge of your gear.
