New Tent Day | Southern Uplands | Aurora

- With the weather playing ball for once , I head north to the Southern Uplands to try out a new shelter in the “Six Moon Designs Lunar Solo” , I have owned this tent before about four years ago but since then they have done a few upgrades, like the colour and the tie outs.
It is more of a 2-3 season tent which packs away really small, and it was bought with my own money !
It was a nice chilled camp with the bonus of the aurora , not that I actually saw it rather my camera I left out overnight doing a night lapse.

It still puzzles me why nobody has copied Stormin Norman's design and mass produced it 🤷🏼♂️ The rays popping through the clouds ⛅️ looked awesome. I like that six moons, way better than your old one. Those tie out adjusters are exactly the same as the ones on my new OneWind hammock tarp... so easy to cinch up. Quality sunrise 🌅 👍
I know they would sell like hot cakes , the redesign on the lunar solo is much improved . I remember the old tie outs used to slip but no more 👍 a very enjoyable camp and no rain 😂 tfw atb Dave
Trail Designs in the USA, its their original idea (there was legal issues copying it...). You can order but you have to use a shipping agent.
Lovely video, I ummed and aaahed about getting a Six Moons Designs tent but I opted for a much cheaper Gram Counter Gear VLT.
The Lunar solo looks good though and the venting looks sensible for a single skin. I might have to start saving again. ATB, Graham 🤘🤘👍👍

Beautiful sunrise that Dave and you captured the Northern lights too. The colour of the tent is much easier on the eye than the last one. I hope all’s well 👍🏻

Sunset, Aurora, Sunrise and an inversion, I'd say that was a pretty successful trip.
I'm surprised at the amount of room in that tent, it looks really big for a solo.
Yes I was blessed on this camp , it’s probably ideal for one man and his dog as it’s quite spacious .
Nice one Dave, the Southern Uplands look stunning and remarkably quiet (other campers) compared to the lakes and peaks.
Nice tent, I keep toying with the idea of getting a lightweight/mid price range tent for future trips to Dartmoor. This one looks like a good option, I wandered though if theres much difference between that and the Lanshan 1? 👍
They are very quiet indeed I saw no one whilst on the hills 👍
This is the tent lanshan copied, in my opinion it’s better made but more expensive than the lanshan, having owned both there isnt much in it. so the lanshan 1 would be a cheaper option for a now and then shelter.

Was that Friday night? I was camping up on a Munro and caught a very similar aurora. Was baking hot most the night, sun cream on at 7am too! I bought a second battery pack recently so when I do the starlapse i can sure it ain’t gonna run out on me.

Two magical words and concepts: new tent day, and Southern Uplands. So had to tune in. Made me realise I have enjoyed your good viewing for a few years now. Thank you for the entertainment and information. In addition, what I have appreciated is your channels freedom from overt and covert commercial manipulation. JMO

You definitely have a tent problem Dave. But looks to be a really good purchase (again)😂. Superb camp spot though ,that sunrise, wow 👌 , and really lucky to capture the Aurora.

Good one Dave. Enjoyed the time lapse. Nice to see you using a lunar solo again. The colour is better - close to my SMD gatewood cape. I did originally order a green lunar solo myself but ended up with the grey one. The improvements are much better - still should have a tie out on the back IMO. Did it come with the cords along the bottom? ATB

1st Cheers Geordie prize in the post 😂, but no hiking poles needed ? This was set up using my alpkit 4 piece carbon pole which fits in the frame bag 👍👍breakfast is anytime meal for me 😂😂

Thanks ⛺️👍 not sure model but it’s a marmot windshirt which I have had a good few years now , it has a fleece lining as is a great lightweight top 👍

Silly question: Did you find it too draughty with the big gap all the way round? This same(ish) tent design (big gap all the way round the tent) put me off the Gossamer Gear "The One"
No I didn’t find it a problem but I did have my tyvek bag cover on , and it wasn’t very windy either . Atb Dave

You can buy it seam sealed but only in US 😂 I took me 10 mins to do it the other day ⛺️👍
