Actually World War II was not the only time we almost abandoned country that was an ally to us, during the Revolutionary War France helped us fight the British, and when France needed our help the fight Spain, George Washington whom was president at that time declined to help the French. Thomas Jefferson at the time try to persuade President Washington to help the French, but Alexander Hamilton agree with the president , that we should not aid the French, even though the French aided us.

The USA wanted Assad (president of Syria) out, so they armed and trained Syrian rebels. Some of these rebels went rogue because they wanted an Islamic State in the area, so they became ISIS.This means that the USA created ISIS and sent the entire region even deeper into war. After USA realized that they had created a monster, they sent troops to the area to fight ISIS. The Kurds and Christians who were being persecuted by ISIS decided to fight side by side with America, thus creating enemies left, right, and center in that region. Since the war started, 11,000 Kurds have lost their lives. During that time, the president of Turkey swore that when he gets the chance, he will 'wipe the Kurds off the face of the earth'. This week, Trump decided that the problem America created is no longer America's problem and he is pulling out the troops, thus leaving the Kurds at the mercy of Turkey. Two days ago, the president of Turkey announced that he is invading Syria. This will be a genocide, all because the Kurds were stupid enough to trust America.

However, Turkey, where most of the Kurds live, are vehemently against this. When America went to the region to fight ISIS, they needed an ally (people who knew the terrain well and spoke the language), so they asked the Kurds to help them. The Kurds agreed and formed the SDF army, which led attacks against ISIS on the ground. All this time, they have been fighting ISIS with America's protection. However, if they thought they were hated before, they are even more hated now. They made so many enemies by fighting alongside America. In fact, Erdogan, the president of Turkey, declared that when he gets the chance he will "wipe the Kurds off the face of the earth". So imagine everyone shock when Trump had a phone call with Erdogan on Sunday and then announced that he was pulling out the troops. On Monday, Erdogan announced that they will be "moving forward with their long planned operations in Northern Syria". Trumps response is that he will, in his "great and unmatched wisdom" destroy Turkey's economy if they hurt the Kurds.
