@@Darts_Mattto be fair your don't😁😁 I play golf aswell and I know what you mean but honestly, your first pub darts match is, to be honest-a fcking horrific experience 🤣🤣🤣 but it is such a great way to learn! Online leagues are good and defo have their place, but they really don't prepare you for a real pub match! Good luck mate! Can't wait to watch you on this journey!

Hi there. Great vid again 👍 for myself, i started playing in a publeague sinds septembre, it helps me a lot. Not only picking up soms tips and advices from better/more consistant players but also having that competitive mindset every week again really boost my focus. Playing couple-matches also helps, because no one wanna let his mate down in a match ;-) cheers and throw them ;-)

Been playing about 4 years, got to around 65-70 avg. I’d say play competitions regularly, my first darting experience was a tournament, I lost every game and did for months, but that’s how you improve. Playing in teams also helps with pressure like some others have mentioned. Nothing like playing in a full pub with everyone watching
Thank you mate for supporting and sharing your experience. My sense is it's an initiation we have to go through! I have my first tournament this Saturday, nervous to say the least! Anything else specifically that helped you improve? Or just a case of you put yourself out there and became comfortable in the environment?
@@Darts_Matt putting yourself out there is the main thing, I’ve done countless competitions and always push myself to go to bigger ones. Other thing is the purposeful practice, set yourself a plan and follow it as you mentioned. Also it’s very important to have breaks, don’t practice for too long, I think 20-30 mins is the limit for focus so doing 25mins focused then 5mins off helps a lot. I also find it more beneficial to do practice games slightly above your ability, it’s massively frustrating but improves your mental resilience.
A trap a lot of people fall into as well is that improvement will all be uphill, it won’t you’ll improve then drop off massively for a period. Don’t panic and start changing things, it’s not beneficial.

I have practised every day since December till now and will do for the foreseeable usually a couple of hours min.
My darts Training app has helped me improve from 40ish to low 60s in that period
I'm 58 and played darts periodically

I was super close to being pro at some point. I maybe unorthodox. In my experience just throw as much as you can. That means no keeping scores, no opponents. Use every bit of time you have to work on your muscle memory/grip. I used to play 6 to 10 hours a day and I could play in so many different stances and had multiple throws. Not every day you will feel the same so having a few options is good. Go to a big open tournament and get destroyed to realize how much you can improve, it is a hard but necessary step. You seem more than ready for a pub league so do that for sure! Anyway, that is what worked for me. Good luck to you, nice video!

GDL is a fantastic league. You're grouoed with players of your own level and they have tournaments with majors etc like the pdc

Definitely join a league of some kind, whether it’s a team or singles league at a pub/club. Easily the best way of seeing your game improve!
I’m in 3 singles leagues and a team and have to say that although I love the team I play for there is no substitute for playing in a singles league for helping your game improve! Things like counting, finishes and scoring (and in turn your average) will improve quicker than playing in a team 👍
PS. What cabin have you got as I’ve got one sat in my garden to build at the moment!

Haha, I actually went with LilleVilla. However, for better prices and more of a range try Dunster House. Just check they build it for you and what base you need. Sneaky hidden costs!

Yeah you’ll definitely get more throwing time in a singles league. Most leagues are something like Best of 10/Best of 14 so you’ll get a good 6/8 legs at least throwing time. In a pub/club team at best you may get to play a singles BO3 and a pairs game. Some team leagues do triples teams and even team of 6 games too.
Totally get the camaraderie of the team, I’d just say that’s a trade off for not playing as much darts! If you can… do both 😂
I went with a cabin from Dunster House in the end, just got to build it and get the dartboard up in there! Then I might join the GDL too!

have you already went down to the darts shop and found a set of darts you like? weight/length?
thats probably one of the most important factors in darts besides practicing
im much more comfortable throwing torpedo shaped 7.2-7.4mm width also 44-48mm.
ive tried many sets and weights by buying darts online which is kinda sad because if i just went to the shop it would've been less expensive to find a good set of darts.
if you already found your range of darts then the next step besides practice is to play better players and enter tournaments regularly.

There is a shop in St Helens in the UK that I would like to do that at. I think you have reinforced this, and I will be looking to do that this year.

How much did you practice during the year?
Hi mate, tbh not as much as I would have liked due to work commitments (sure everyone would say the same!).
I had 2 stints out the country for a 3/4 week period which knocked me back a bit.
Otherwise, I was practicing on an average week 3-6 hours and then playing online games and social.
Next year, hoping to up it and progress. Will be talking next year about consistency and tracking that kind of thing 👍

I would think she has. I maybe wrong but she is more Bletchley so likely played here. Locally I think it's the best facility.

We are in our 3rd or 4th season and the nerves dont go. But we have extremely good players in our league many who go to Q school. We joined as a new team in our local league but I would imagine joining a team is easy enough

@@Darts_Matt I’d say pop down to a few locals when it’s a league night and watch to get a feel for for it. Also just having a chuck in a pub you’ll probably get chatting to someone who plays in the league and just snowballs from there. Almost every team will take you in on any level unless they’re really full on players ☺️

Hi mate, it's not. It's about £12 a month, but you do get the league, monthly cups and other comps that run throughout for your membership.
