- Two years ago I adopted my wonderful retired racing greyhound Mac!
With greyhound racing ending next month in Florida, I realized this was a great time to adopted a friend for Mac.
Adopted from Greyhounds as Pets of Northeast Florida: www.greyhoundp...
Filmed November 16 2020.
COVID-19 disclosure: We interacted with two humans at the adoption location. We were all wearing masks.
Thank you for clearing up the confusion that racing greyhounds are not rescues they are retired. I haven’t had a chance to adopt one yet and now there are only 2 tracks left open in the entire USA
I went for a grayhound and had 5 to pick from so now we have 5 grayhounds i couldn't leve them there sad eyes won me over
Yep, sounds about right 😊
They are beautiful!! I had one, and was told two were as easy as one. Then it was three shouldn't be any harder than two, and thing I knew is that I had four greyhounds. They stole my heart. Congrats on your greyt kids.
Thank you! Yes, two is easy, so four must be nothing! 😂
BEAUTY
Congrats on your beautiful new hound Tosh! Our Atticus rides with his head rested the same way on our second row seat headrests! They are are such lovely, sweet dogs. We have adopted retired racers from the track here in Birmingham, AL for the last 19 years. COVID finally killed the program here which is a shame since they place over 900 hounds all over the US and Canada each year. They have have a 99% adoption rate and we adore the staff at the track and adoption center. We are partial to XXL boys with previous hock injuries since they are are the hardest to place. I currently and hanging off the edge of our King sized bed with our 92lb hound playing middle spoon with his mile long legs extended out and my hubs and I hanging off the edges. We adore our wonderful hounds and can’t imagine our life without our retired racers. Two of our hounds raced (grade A and one only raced a maiden class) and the others retired from the farm. We have been lucky to have Atticus’s sire retire locally and we get to reunite them every now and then.
Wow! Thanks for sharing. Greyhound racing just ended in FL and I'm super bummed I'm not going to be able to adopt another in the future. But I'm so much enjoying Mac & Tosh, they are so sweet! That's so cool you get to spend time with your greys sire.
Greyhounds are the reason the king size bed was invented.
1:00 thats super cute
Thank you so much for this video! My wife and I adopted our greyhound from Greyhounds as Pets and watching this gave me a huge wave of nostalgia. Hope Mac and Tosh are doing well!!
You're welcome! Yes, they are doing great together!
bravo adorable
Beautiful dog! And awesome shirt hahaha
Thank you!! Harry Potter and Greyhounds- the best! :)
Thank you for adopting❤️ and not buying from a breeder. We adopted a Galgo-Mix in February. But I don’t like how the Greyhounds are caged up in this shelter. Do they stand there like this all day and night? :/
The crates they are in they can stand, sit, or lay down in. Tosh actually still loves sleeping at night in a crate the same size as in this video. I have tried not crating her at night, but she feels comfort in it. But Mac hates the crate. Each dog is different I guess.
I love this greyhound ❤️
Leo my fvrt 😘
Congrats on the dog I myself have a brindle greyhound he is a very good dog
Thanks! Coming up on her 1 year adoption day Sunday!
Thank you so much for sharing Tosh' adoption story! 🥰 What an exciting day that must have been! How large is Tosh, by the way? I got curious because you thought Jacob was a bit too big. I have no idea about greyhound sizes. They look large, sure - but how big is that, exactly?
Tosh is pretty small for a greyhound. She is about 62lbs but her head is smaller and she just has a little smaller frame. My first greyhound Mac was the same weight, but a little bigger. Male greyhounds tend to be bigger, the biggest one I know is my neighbors grey Colin. I think he is 70 something lbs and his head is huge. czcams.com/video/AxjCquNZkCs/video.html
@@smkauthor Thanks for the info! And omg, how do you basically live in Greyhound Street? And more importantly, why don't I live in a greyhound neighbourhood? 😅 So jealous! Enjoy them! ❤
Why do they wear their collars so high up on their necks? it looks funny
Their necks are different widths so the collars are placed on the smallest section.
I don’t want them pretty I want them goofy and cute
Greyhounds are super goofy and adorable! I'm pretty much always smiling around mine.
Pls provide Leo in India 🇮🇳 pls
How long did have your first grey before you adopted a second?
