I hope Pinder and Hayward will write one more masterpiece with Lodge. They are needed right now.
Yes, that would be incredibly awesome and timely in these perilous times. All three men are absolutely brilliant and still have a lot to offer!!
" searching for some kind of enlightenment " ... weren't we all back then and even now searching for essentially Peace, Love and Happiness !!! ... the true Hippie in me will always connect to these thoughts !!!
Man does that bring back memories of mystic nights filled with color, wonder and friends, wandering a world of beauty and peace
My sisters had the album DOFP. They were young teenagers and I was about 6 or 7 when I first heard it. I LOVED it. I feel so lucky to have been so young when some of the best music came out. Musicians had to actually play instruments and write music back then. It was great. Thank you MB. I still sing your songs when I'm working or driving.
I first heard Nights in White Satin when I was about 11 years old, and I thought it was the most beautiful song I'd ever heard. I still haven't found one that I'd consider better. God blessed us all with these good men.
Still listening to the Moody Blues in 2022.
It is so refreshing that Justin Hayward unabashedly admits that the Moody Blues were searching for something more meaningful in their music when they were making DOFP. Thank you SO much for this wonderful video, Pointreven!!!
+Moody Jill I haven't heard Justin talk about how that song came to be before!
+Moody Jill Jill - This is a shout out to you and Pointreven, because you have put in words and pictures those incredible songs that have been produced by this amazing group of musicians. They changed rock and roll forever with the introduction of the orchestra to rock and roll. They were the first to do it, now everyone does it, because it adds a depth and dimension to the music that electric instruments cannot produce. These chaps knew this almost 50 years ago. Add to this the melotron, which was the first real electric synthesizer and you have a group that has literally changed the face of rock and roll...you help to keep us remembering and appreciating these wonderful musicians. I have had the privilege of conducting an orchestra way back when I was a kid...what a wonderful dream it would be for me to conduct the orchestra behind Justin, John, Graham and perhaps even Mike for a 50th anniversary Days of Future Past or simply Nights in White Satin. it would be epic. Thanks to you all again!
+David Lamb Wow! What a mind-blowing comment, David--thank you, and thank you to our amazing Pointreven for preserving so much of the Moodies' TV performances for posterity. I completely agree with everything you've said regarding amazing Moody Blues!
great video
thanks
Justin is so 🔥🔥🔥!!! He is so lovely, his word's to his song's bring back good and sad memorie's of my youth. All feeling's you remember, that will never leave your mind...🥀🥀🥀🥀..2022..
Thanks for the peak into enlightenment in my youth listening to Days of future past. To me even the name of the album had a profound spiritual meaning.
Nights in White Satin. The four-minute (to write) miracle song that had endured for over fifty years...and will endure (easily) for a hundred fifty years more.
His voice just as beautiful always. Thank you for sharing.
The Magic Happened when all 5 got together! We are so lucky to be alive to Witness the strength and the Power of the Moody Blues Messages to John, Justin, Mike how about a MBs Trio??
The Litle Bit of Magic The Mellotron The Angel Sound and Angel Voice Justin
I first heard DOFP at my sister’s house when I was 15 or 16, she’s 9 years older than me and I was house sitting for for while she was away on a trip. I literally listened to Nights in White Satin 20 times in a row. I was so blown away by the song: the melody, the lyrics and the flute solo (I played the flute at the time). It is still the most gorgeous song I’ve ever heard. It cemented my love of the Moody Blues, especially Justin’s beautiful writing and voice.
Love it, I'm only 65, but I got to see them live 3 times. A little micrdot in W. Germany in 1977 and the Moody Blues. San Francisco, 1981 and Concord California 1985 were my other two opportunities to see them.
The first time I heard "Nights in White Satin" I was 8. It captured me and to this day it remains as my favorite contempary song. So beautiful!!
And like Justin Hayward said, I also dropped acid (I was 19 or 20) with 3 of my friends and we put DOFP on the turntable. It was immaculate!
I think the first 4 albums of the Moody Blues "classic 7" are not only concept albums, they are acid trips! Sooooo beautiful!!
Tenho tudo do Moody . Moro em Lagoa da Prata , mg . BR . Sauuuude Hayward . Vc é fantástico .( Assim como os outros ) .
One of the greatest albums of all time! As the years have passed, I realize how important Mike Pinder was to the Moodies sound as Justin points out here.
Esse grupo moldou meu gosto musical . Tenho 65 anos e escuto todos os dias . Não fico sem minha dose diária de Moody ❤
Fabulous as ever,and still are
Using LSD, or NDE's and other life altering experiences are only a brief glimpse into spirituality. The real work comes much later, or depending on how fast you choose to proceed.
It's quite comfortable to ruminate on psychedelic music, drug use and so on. But when the soul wants to actually reach the higher levels of existence, there will be reincarnations into unpleasant settings, much pain and suffering before you begin to let go of this earthly plane. Not in this life for Hayward and company, even Pinder, but they will get there. The Moody Blues are one of my favourite groups.
but...there is no soul, no "you"...no thinker behind the thought...
@@tomsmith9479 Thats what your ego wanted you to believe. Once the ego is totally dead and gone, you are basically dead, and the real you will be realized.
Thanks for uploading this. I watched the documentary on the iplayer and was hoping some some kindred spirit would 'do the biz' on YT.
I used to turn on and tune in at the Middle Earth in Covent Garden + the Round House.
Happy Daze!
MIKE WAS "THE GENIUS" BEHIND THE MOODIES.....🙏😇👽💋💖🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
That is so true. How love when it’s over is similar to death. It’s grief, just like lost time. Time waits for no one….
Why on earth would his girlfriends leave him? You'd have to use a breaker bar to pry me off him!
LOL. From a not as attractive, male point of view who's a few years younger, I can understand. Fortunately today you only need a putty knife.
Because as young women can be at that time they can be stupid or he wasn't good person in his younger days
Becayse=== wimmen are fickle.
All hail the mellotron!
MAGICAL FOR SURE!! ✌️💖
Thank You for Posting! xodiane
It's too bad that when they put the film clips together for this documentary, they didn't have someone in charge who knew the difference between a Hammond C3 organ and a Mellotton MK II.....
a Little Bit of Magic Fairy Dust and Angel Voice of Justin giving the Woman The Power one of the first songs of showing Woman's Power Think of Emily's Song by John Lodge talk about Magic too! They are so Good Only one nobody can copy them! Thank you!
I'll always love the Moodies, but when Mike Pinder left, it took something away from the group.
I hated LSD. I didnt need it to fall in love with the Moodys. Justin wrote the most beautiful and mike added the uniqueness. John wrote a few lovely ones . Just my opinion of course
Progressive Rock was stunning! The Moody Blues, Yes, Pink Floyd, ELO, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Alan Parsons Project, Renaissance, Mike Oldfield. WONDERFUL music. No one thinks musically like that today. We though it would go on and on. No, now we have Rap and Hip Hop. PUKE! You can't "hum" that shit Man! You CAN hum Nights In White Satin because it's MUSIC. If you can'y hum it, it's not "music" it's just "beat".
Another Renaissance fan. Far out! I agree about the rap and hip hop, but each to his own. It's all relative.
Not me .l still loved the music. The music was more powerful than any drug. Even normal people appreciate a masterpiece.
WE ALL DROPPED LSD....🙏😇👽💖💋
I didn't!
@@rosemaryscott9704 me either! Smoked a lot of, uhm, you know. Its legal now in some states! 😎
I indeed did NOT explain Timothy Leary to my Gramma when I would catch her singing Legend of a Mind. Oh, if she only had known.
k in w satin still gives me chills....
N in w satin. Nights. Referring to white satin sheets a girlfriend gave him.
So glad they have been part of. My life x
THE DAY'S OF LSD.....THEY WERE MAGIC INDEED......
The four of us decided to drop acid. There were five, so who is missing?
Narrated by eric idle??
And then lonnie stole half the money for nights in w satin
You always here the ACID was best in the 60's...the lament of those who didn't turn on till the way into the 70's. lol
