- CBS news report about scientists discovering weak spot in the ozone layer over Antarctica. Weakness in our protective atmosphere. CFC's. Christopher Glenn reporting on Earth's Ozone Layer. Originally broadcast during Saturday Morning cartoon commercial break.
Great Post! Brings back a lot of memories. Found this by accident. It's a privilege to hear Christopher Glenn's voice again. It's a terrible shame kids today don't have this quality. Thanks for posting and I'll have my kids watch it.
rjodhan1rr44. Got that right this, Saturday morning at the cartoons when we were growing up these were great times today they have nothing but garbage on television
I remember seeing this program back in the early 70's. You don't forget that opener and voice.
milion dolla bull
1986 The final year of In The News 😥
You've got that right ▶️, Joe!
i hahe 🥸
Awesome 1986 CBS in the news: Ozone gem!
It's good that Christopher Glenn informed me about the ozone layer depletion/damage. I even learned this from the Nickolodron's Doug Funny cartoon series.
What a voice I wish I had a voice like that
christmas sucks
Art Bell's new radio show has a news segment Dark Matter News that reminds me so much of these 'In the News' segments that I grew up on. Great stuff.
whatever happened to art bell??? I used to like listening to him
@@stevemandl5140 I guess there’s no way to find out, Steve. We’ll never know.
@@johnhoward3042 when i asked about art bell back then that was before he passed away.little after i brought that up he died.
taco bell😂😂😂
The last phase which is to eventually ban the manufacturing of R22 refrigerant (home a/c use) is about complete. It's called the Montreal Protocol and is scheduled to be phased out by 2020. The new refrigerants are not as good because they run at a higher pressure. The good news is these bans, especially R12 (car a/c) in the early 90s has allowed the ozone layer to rebuild.
Oh good, we get to suffer because of 'mother gaia' worship.
Too bad they don't show these "ITN" segments anymore. They were great for getting (even) kids to notice what's new in the news. No wonder today's kids are half brain-dead!
Agreed!
@001bf What do you mean "supressed?"
This is the ONLY point of view being broadcast by the mainstream media.
Yes, what would Jim Accosta and Mark Dice have to say about this issue had they been CZcamsrs in the 1970s.
From August 2, 1986
You've got it, Elijah!
are you related fro moosess

I think the In The News CBS 2 minute reports from 1971 through 1986 are great to watch on DVD. Apparently that could not be done because CBS could not do this In The News DVD collection.
I love this. Please make your watermark less obtrusive. maybe reduce the opaqueness. Thanks so much.
THAT TRUE

Hello I am looking for a particular episode of "In the News" it would be in 1974 about the impeachment of President Nixon.
There's a video with a big collection of In The News episodes on CZcams
@Timbrock1000 Because cfc's linger in the upper atmosphere. They do not break down quickly but break down many ozone molecules for each cfc molecule. Thats why they are trying to get rid of R-12 in favor of R134 for use by the population.
In The News - Bathroom break.

😡🎓😍
Antartica, being as desolate as you can get on earth has the hole in the ozone. So, if arosols are supposedly causing the hole, why would the ozone hole be over an area like that where there is probably no arosol cans within 600 miles rather than a populated area like China, Europe or the U.S. where they are everywhere? Also, this In The News segment is at least 25 years old. Animals in Antartica are still doing quite well. Go figure.
