After watching your video, I tried on the Victory, Dragon and Alpha, I think the Victory and Dragon already run half a size smaller than the Alpha and likely other Nike non-spike shoes. Something for other to keep in mind when downsizing.
Yeah, that's good to know. I tried 8.5 at first and i still felt some slipping in the forefoot area so i decided to go to 8 and it felt a lot more locked in. It just feels better for me on the track for some reason.
Hey Ivan. I haven’t had the chance to make the video for the dragonfly due to the weather but it is more comfortable and softer than the victory. Between the two I would choose the victory for 100-400 but for just 100 I would look into the superflyelite 2 which is their sprinting shoe. 5K for dragonfly and 400-1600 with the victory.’
Nice review. Good timing as I have just managed to get a pair of these as well. Just putting them on they feel aggressive throwing you forward and even more so than the Dragonfly which I really liked and did races in from 400 to 3000 in the summer. Can I ask what sort of paces you were running in there? Spikes don’t really work unless going pretty fast. Interesting that Cheptegei opted for the Dragonfly in his 5000 world record. I suspect even elites may opt for the Victory up to a mile.
Hey Tim, yeah these were aggressive. I did a bunch of 400s going at about 4:50 to 5:30 pace. After a while it took a toll on my legs. I think dragonfly’s are more forgiving and they’ve pretty responsive too.
@@RunWithJ Yeah spikes need to used sparingly don't they. Will look forward to trying mine and comparing notes. Most of our tracks are closed again right now.
Thanks Rodney! What size are you looking for? I see a lot of sites that sell these. Also as an alternative the v10 is just as good and now less than $100 in some places.
It looks like runnersplus has that size for sale in the mango color but everywhere else is pretty limited. These have been out for a while since fall last year and for a while there were many available. They are probably working on the new version now and phasing this out.
@@RunWithJ Ok. I have been checking runnersplus everyday and they did not have the size. I even checked this morning. Well, you right! I saw the size and purchased them. Much Thanks!!!!!!!!!
Hi! I'm training to be firefighter, I need to do 400 m, but I sucks on it, so, do you think this shoes can give me 1-2 secs on the test? I need to do 55'' to the max note but I'm like 59''. It's a expensive shoe but if it give me like 2 secs I would buy it. The other test it's a 2km. So what do you think? Pls respond this shoes get fast out of stock.
I’m a Masters runner (50+), not sure I am quick enough to benefit from the shoe. I’m running around 2min10 for 800m and looking to work down towards 2min flat over the next months in the build up to the African Master Championships in October 2023. Which would you recommend, the Victory or the Dragonfly?
I’ve seen people run a 1:45 800 in the dragonfly, despite their focus on more distance races, but in my opinion, the victory would be superior if you’re focused solely on the 800.
hey im a sprinter who really like sthe design and was wondering if I should get these cuz I'm a 200/400 runner and I'm looking for some new spikes i looked at the maxfly but I'm gonna be doing more 400s and 200s in the next season
You can. I’ve done 100s in them and they were fast. I think the maxfly would just be a little faster in my opinion but you can definitely use these for 100
thank you for this review it was great! I was wondering if this shoe would be a good choice for someone like me, who plans on running the 100m and/or 400m for track. some shoes may be better options for it, but does the zoom victory work well with the 100 m or is it not very good?
For sprinting I think the superfly elite 2 would be better for you for the 100 and 400. The victory is a short mid distance spikes. It would be good for 400 but for 100 I think a different sprinting spike would be good.
They fit the same so if you get one size for one it should fit the same for the other. I had to go with my true normal shoe size for a snug fit. Half a size down from my regular trainer size which is .5 bigger
Very informative video! You mentioned sizing - you went 1 full size down. Is it because the toe box is wider or is the length longer? My foot measures size 9 but the rival M fits me in 9.5 bc it runs smaller. I’m just torn- idk if I get 8.5 would fit or do I just stay with 9. Any insight is appreciated
I just had too much space then I would have liked in the toe box. Also the material is stretchy so I felt my foot moving around a lot in it. For spikes I prefer a more locked in fit.
I'm planning on getting some spikes for my training sessions. I usually do 400s,800s,200s up to 1000s occasionally over that distance. Is it a good idea to get that spike?
Might sound crazy but you may need 2 different spikes. I run the 2, 4, and 8, and I have the Victories for the 8 while having the Superfly elite 2’s for the 2 and 4. The victories should not be used for sprinting because its not very durable.
It would get dirty real fast. Only if it’s real mild terrain. Any debris would probably ruin it within a couple runs. Even on the track after one wear my foam is already ripping at the rear.
Ur set up is pretty gud man(lighting, cam, audio, etc) good review too!
Thank you, I appreciate it! I had some of the equipment from photography so it helped but I’m always trying to make it better.

@@albertoaguilar9773 probably not. 11.5 will be the safe bet. 11 if you are used to spikes and like them super tight.
Great reviews
Thank you Shasta as always!
have you been able to test the difference between air zoom victory and dragonfly x?
which is more recommended for distances 100m-400m?

Nike new Superflys have the same bubble but they're sprinting spikes for 400m and under
Great review but I wish these were good for 100m because of the air bubble
Yeah, you can race in them for 100 but I think superflys might be better that distance.
@@RunWithJ a lot of people gettin PBs with these now over 100m
That’s great to hear. It’s a great spike
just look at us olympic trials
From now on, they released Nike mayfly for sprints
For someone looking to run the 3200, 1600 and 800 in indoor track would you say that the dragonfly would be the better option?
Hey Colin, yeah I think the dragonfly would be perfect for those 3 various distances.
Just got me a pair of these today for 60 bucks on eBay in neon yellow color first race in the tomorrow so wish me luck, I have yet too break them in 😂
Nice price! Good luck tomorrow!
@@RunWithJ thanks, I loved the shoes, they felt so bouncy during the race came in 3rd overall in the 800m 💪

i do the 100m and 200m but mainly the 200m. would you recommend victory spikes for 200m
They are meant for the 800 and up. You could perhaps use them for a 400
Can I use this for sprinting mainly 200 tho but I run 100 too

Victory’s would be good for those distances. The max fly could also work but I see the max being more of a 100m kind of sprinting spike.
My feedback is : no advantage in the speed. Less stability. Duration is about 10 kilometers , then the rear part of sole is completely worn
Are you striking in your forefoot or heel?
Thanks for the vid proper useful 👌
No problem!
Hi, great review. Somewhat of a weird quiestion but where did you buy your nike socks and what are they called.
Thank you! They were the Nike elite lightweight racing socks but now I think they’re called the Nike multiplier
Can you perform better than Alpha Fly in the 2000m race?
it will be hard to tell but on the track i would say yes and i don't believe alphafly is allowed for competition on track.
how good would these be for a xc 5k?
You can use it if your just racing on grass but it’s really meant for the track. You should check out the victory xc5
@@RunWithJ ok thx, would those be better then dragonflys?
Little faster but dragonfly is more durable

Hello, I’m not sure about South Africa but these were available on Nike.com online
I run the 2 mile, mile, and 800 m but I can’t get the dragonfly’s cause they sold out in my size. Would these still work for 3200?
You could. It’s a little aggressive but it helps that it has zoomx foam and is pretty comfortable. For me it would be a little too long.

Hey I was wondering since I run the 4 and the 800 should I use these for both or the zoom air max flys I would get both but I’m broke
I think the victories for both would be fine and give you more options as opposed to short distance sprinting
