Our VRF Grab Bags (GB) videos are compiled from content from our cameras as Mods and fans spot something neat while watching our cameras. In the GB you will, of course, find a variety of TRAIN content, special trains, maintenance, steam, diesels, interesting rail cars, cool paint schemes and more. You will also find fun people, city events, boats, planes, cars (sometimes going wild) and nature. Thank you for taking the time to sit back and enjoy these highlight reels that we call "Grab Bags"!

I didn't know who Conductor Brian was except that I loved his wig-wag routine, but I wish him and Conductor Brad clear roads and sunny skies for their retirements. I also loved and was so touched by the Komen Award car; to a breast cancer survivor that's a very big deal. The robin was beautiful, and I loved the steam-engine meet and the one in Hesperia. The music, as always, was perfect; this entire video was awesome. Thanks, guys! 🌹

0:20 NS 645 is a slugged geep was actually built on a new frame and not a rebuild of a single old unit, while NS 6712 is a GP33ECO rebuilt from a Southern GP50
0:57 ALC42s 356 and 354 on the California Zephyr. What happened to 355?
2:36 ex-Amtrak orange MOW gondolas carrying large stones
    2:50 LEF&C boxcar
    3:03 freshly overahuled Metrolink cars
    3:12 UP 7400 as mid-train DPU
5:00 five NS units on Q-LACNYC
6:15 CP Rail and Maine Central boxcars
6:40 this train with a GMTX SW1500 went over the switches and then reversed back the other way
8:25 some gray exahust from this trailing YN2 AC44CW
9:04 two K&O geeps, NS AC44C6M, and UP AC44CW on one train
9:27 SP gray as mid-train DPU
    10:37 a single SD70ACe pulling a welded rail train
12:10 NS 8099 and 1069 pulling a 19-car OCS. Norfolk Southern recently returned the two SD60Es that used to pull the OCS to freight service and will now cycle heritage units to pull the OCS (again at 20:00)
13:09 this loram hi-rail truck is marking ties to be replaced. Glad to know that nobody has to step onto the tracks and spray them by hand.
14:14 a geep on a local job returns home with a BN green caboose
    14:46 CSX OCS in Ashland
    15:26 Metro-North Conrail heritage unit

17:09 CP heritage leading a BNSF train
17:57 one train overtakes another through the West Bottoms in Kansas City
19:24 old D&H 2-bay hoppers carrying scrap iron! they have MEC markings on them
19:36 BN green and early BNSF covered hoppers. BNSF used this circle logo from 1995 to 2005
19:46 car is completely ignorant to the fact there is a train about the crush it
21:02 old Amtrak baggage (originally Santa Fe), California Zephyr dome car Silver palace, and an Amtrak Phase III baggage car with Railexco covering up where the name Amtrak once was
22:34 CP, KCS, and NS triple-header in Revelstoke
23:19 California Zephyr passing a river barge after clearing the bridge
24:00 WOW! Strasburg 475 and 89 were both at Paradise at the same time! I believe 475 just dropped off some freight cars, one of the few places in the world where a steam engine still move revenue freight.
25:57 and now Colorado Commentary with Brad. When I was in Fraser in 2021, I watched the Zephyr come in and out as much as I could during that trip, and one of the conductors was a friend of one of my Mom's friends!
27:57 and another Amtrak conductor is beginning a new chapter in their life!

I saw an electrician either replacing or adding addional cameras at the Belen NM railyard. He said he was doing the work for VirRailfan. I always thought another camera would be good north of the Fred Harvey House and/or at the New Mexico Railrunner Station. Or on the curve where the triple track leaves the yard "westbound" going up the hill leaving Belen. Sorry for the non related comments... Happy Retirement Brad

Smokey Alco? Those GEs were smoking, unless it’s the steamer. VR needs to go to Scranton PA for Alcos and MLWs. Bridge 60 is a good place to catch operations, especially if the walkway to the Steamtown Mall is open, makes a good viewing platform. Maybe also check out the Arkansas and Missouri for Alcos.
