it's because you need a box spring(which goes under the mattress) with those types of bedframes, not just a mattress so it's not that it sucks you just didn't buy a box spring
also the size doesn't matter, like once you get a box spring on it, it won't matter that the front part hangs off that's exactly how my bed is and was purchased like that!

Usually those bed frames hold the box spring at the bottom, cause it’s solid. Then you put your mattress on top of that. Then it shouldn’t be so floppy.

You don’t need a box spring, you can put stringers across the frame and use tabs to clamp them to the frame. Just an option...
you're welcome! You don't actually need to clamp them to the frame, that just prevents them from sliding and from clanging in the middle of the night if you move. If your mattress is heavy enough you don't need the clamps either!
You don't actually need a box spring! Instead of a regular frame, you're supposed to buy a "base" for those "bed in a box" type mattresses. You can get them on Amazon!

Monica , your mattress needs slats. Wooden boards ( about 4 ) , that go inside the frame.
Ikea sells slats for it's bed frames that you are supposed to pick up. Sometimes they're in a different aisle so it's easy to overlook them

You could get two pieces of plywood to support the bed if a box spring is too much, and it’s easier to transport

I would recommend a metal platform base for your bed, if you're still looking for one. It requires no box spring and gives you space under the bed for storage. Also, it is super easy to set up because it just comes with all the necessary tools and takes just a few steps.
