I’ve noticed in a lot of your videos that you’re someone who obviously loves the sun and “nice” weather. But there’s so many people who are really drawn to and enjoy the gloomy, rainy, “bad” weather of the PNW. I think especially as a real estate agent now, it’s important to remember that not everyone craves the sunshine all the time. I say this as someone from Newport Beach, CA who isn’t a fan of the perpetual sunshine and craves the dreary weather of the PNW. Great video!

I grew up in the Bay Area, moved to Boston for school and then to Seattle for the foreseeable future :) Seattle is surrounded by water and mountain ranges making a lot of amazing hiking/outdoors experience so accessible while still living in an urban area. @@Mandy-cn8sq The gloom is the most overrated thing in Seattle. It's not as gloomy as people say. In terms of inches of rain, it rains less here than in the midwest. It mists and drizzles in the winter (we are in the middle of a temperate rain forest), then we have dry, blissful summers. Spring and autumn exist, but barely - mostly we have a wet season and a dry season.

I was born and raised in Seattle, and while I love that so many people now understand why we have always been so proud of our city, I admit that it is in many ways entirely different from when I grew up. That's fine, life moves on, things change. I chose to leave Seattle because of the weather, and because it was growing too fast for me once the tech companies took over. I like to tell people that when I was a kid the tallest building in Seattle was the Smith Tower (happy that your friend liked that building!) Then came the Sea-First building, which was renamed SAFCO Plaza. We called it 'the box the Space Needle came in,' because it was this big ugly black box that was around 50 stories high. I don't know what it is called now. Anyway, happy to watch your videos to remind me that while I no longer want to live in Seattle, it is still a great city and a wonderful place to live for so many.

A difference in culture is amazing for me! I don't think very many Oregonians move to Washington since they are so very similar, but Oregon is more friendly and more affordable. I also find Oregon to be a lot more geared towards hippies where as Seattle has a classy business metropolitan feel. I love every visit to Seattle it has an elevated and fresh feel! Your videos are awesome by the way. PNW LOVE

I can relate both to "sort of" being from here, in that I was born as raised in Spokane, and to being/feeling like a transplant, in that after I left Spokane to join the Army at age 18 in 1978, I lived in so many different places in the US and around the world. I finally ended up in the Puget Sound area (via then-Ft. Lewis) in the Army in 1988, left the Army in 1990, and settled in Seattle in 1991. (It feels ironic to me now that I've lived in the Seattle city proper longer than I've lived anywhere else!)
Your video touched on so many good points, and the one about the Seattle Freeze resonated with me. I've found that finding friends through shared interests and activities really helped me to start to overcome the "Freeze". But people here are definitely reserved, in my experience, much like in a lot of Northern European places.
But I'm constantly amazed by the fantastic natural beauty of the region and I really love living in a city by the water.

I was born and raised in California. Moved to Iowa after college then moved to the Seattle area right before the pandemic hit. Alot of the aspects that were described in your video I felt aren't unique to just moving to Seattle. Even though the midwest is known to have friendly people, it still felt like a "Seattle Freeze". It was hard for me to make friends and I had to really try by intentionally putting myself out there. Most of my friends in Iowa are the people I worked with but that friendship did not build easily and most of them are also transplants to that area. People were always nice to your face but they would rarely invite you to go do anything with them or hangout outside of work. It wasn't because they were mean but because they were comfortable with their set of friends they've made over the years of living there. I feel the same way here in Seattle. The pandemic definitely didn't help though in making new friends so only time will tell. I loved all the places I've lived so far. Each place has their own unique characteristics and charm! But so far I've been loving Seattle even during this pandemic!! :D FYI, west coast best coast =P

It’s me and my husband dream to end up to Seattle in the next few years. My favorite part is the weather plus the cost of living is similar to that of living in Southern California. We’re visiting in six weeks and I can’t wait to return. I’ve always wanted to move to Washington since I was teenager but had never been. We finally visited in September 2021 and we were ready to pack up our life in San Diego and move the day after we returned. I think I’ll be okay with the Seattle freeze because I have two friends and I mostly just want to be by myself and doing things alone.

I’m not a huge fan of rain 🌧 since I was born and raised with it in Victoria … but now live in Madison, Wisconsin which I love.
