- 65pts vs Portland: "History on the way".
After 7 straight losses, Kobe decided to stop the bleeding at Staples.
From the 1st possession to the very end, he didn't stop making shot in every position. Even from mid-court while being fouled, KB made incredible shots.
He was beyond clutch, scoring 23pts in the 4th quarter to force overtime, and added 9 more in the extra-period including one of his most oustanding shots he ever hit.
Kobe finished the night with 65pts - the 2nd best scoring game of his career.
The historic scoring spree is on the way...
Kobe's game: 65pts (23/39 FGS & 8/12 from 3's) 7rbds 3asts & 3stls
Kobe scored 42 of the 65 in the 2nd half - 32pts came after the 3rd quarter - Sport
I've been a Lakers fan for a while now, and I think I speak for other people when I say that these were the best and worst times. We never went anywhere in the playoffs, but Kobe was a phenomenal thing to watch. He was a one man wrecking crew, just slaying opponents with sheer scoring ability. He had all those 60 pt games, the 80 point game, 62 in 3 quarters. It was really a sight to see.
Kobe did deserve the MVP these years regardless of team wins because he was, well, the most valuable player. This Lakers squad I couldnt see winning even 20 games without him.
That 3 in the corner is ridiculous!!!! Kobe one of the Greatest Ever!!!!
this was the greatest single game performance I have ever seen. The shots he was making in the 4th and OT were just insane.
Unbelievable performance!!!! That's why he's one of the G.O.A.T.s!!!!!! 💜💛💜💛💜💛🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊 ##mambaforever #ripkobe #ripmambacita
kobe has mad skillz. definitely top 5 guards of all time in terms of skill.
this was kobe at the peak of his prime, he was pretty much unstoppable
Kobe is one of the greatest ever.
Are you kidding me that spinning fadeaway is one of the best shots in the history of the league gives me goosebumps every time
You know how good that last 3-pointer Kobe made was? You can't even replicate that in a video game.
Kobe is pure style. Jordan is purefection
Kobe's 3pter at 7:45 has to be one of THE hardest shots in basketball.
He demonstrates CRAZY court awareness in making sure he doesnt step out of bounds, and to have the mindframe to spin off two guys, trapped in the corner and square up to hit a CLUTCH three in OT is BANANAS!!!
Who else in the league can make a shot like that?!?! HUH?? WHO???
*CRICKETS*
DIDNT THINK SO!!
4 three pointers in a row, in the clutch....BEST PLAYER EVER!
Kobe is the best SG in the game today
Kobe is the definition of clutch!!!
Kobe is the 5th all time greatest of all time
i'm one of the proud ones to see this game live
KOBE IS UNSTOPPABLE!!!
Jordan's the best! Jordan and Kobe are the 2 best one on one players the league has ever seen. Jordan didn't take as much 3's as Kobe does, pound for pound Jordan leads Kobe in most 60 point games, 50 point games, 40 point games, 30 point games, etc. Mvp 5 times, 6 Championship, 6 Finals Mvps, Jordan in his prime is the best ever! I
if kobe wins this championship he's the best laker of all time! no question.
he's the best player in the game period.
THE GOAT! Lakers4life!
Last 4 minutes in the 4th quarter , He was just unreal
he took a dribble there. trust me. i saw it live. i was screaming when i saw that go in.
Kobe is the best no matter what you said
THE GOAT
@92plana Kobe to me never had the experience of being on a bad team, Jordan learned lessons in Chicago when He was drafted to a team that hadn't been in the playoffs in years. Losing games and scoring 50points got old for Michael, getting Mvps, winning Dunk contests, defensive player awards, leading in steals 2 seasons, scoring 63 in the playoffs means nothing without rings. He came to the league learning from legends like Magic, Bird, Kareem, Isiah, DR J, etc. That education showed later on.
truly kobes greatest game
2:01 was badass, kobes the man
Kobeeeeeee Bryaaannnntt !!!!!!!
Honestly anyone who compares lebron to kobe can't be taken seriously. As a basketball fan who grew up watching jordan and other greats, kobe bryant is the most complete player that i've ever seen. inside, outside, he can dominate a game from anywhere on the court and is a great defender. Lebron is a very impressive athlete but there's a big different between athleticism and skill. Kobe's skill cannot be questioned and lebron should not be mentioned in the same breath as kobe. it's not even close
Sasha, Kwame and Smush in the starting lineup? How did I even used to have hope for the Lakers back then. Just reminds m how amazing Kobe was, that he made up for that.
Also, Kobe's the only guy to even break 62 since 1994, he's the greatest scorer of his era, bar none.
Kobe's 3 point fadeaway shot is the hardest shot in the history
those 3's at the end are unreal.
wow. he had 38 points with 7 minutes left. !
so he scored 27 points in 7 minutes!
one word
AMAZING
damn, first the 3 straight threes to force overtime, then that three from the corner, hes the best player since michael jordan, esspecially now that he has 4 titles and a finals mvp.
this game is just history..
"UNREAL!!!"
best player alive and in history
i love how everyone just hates this is professional basketball keyword PROFESSIONAL no excuses if you watched this video from beginning to end as a basketball fan you gotta give respect....otherwise leave your 2 cents somewhere else lebron is not on the same level as kobe...rings matter that's y lebron can't sit on the sidelines and pretend that he is truly happy....believe it kobe is the real deal day in day out period!
No NBA Player hits shots Kobe.Once Kobe gets hot, he's gonna destroy you.He makes incredible shots.
Great game.
WOW!!!
that was the best reaction by the announcers after that turn around three: "are you kidding me?!...unreal!!!"
i was there!
Greatest.
@TheReeeeeech Kobe had grant as well, what were BJ's and paxson before and after chicago?
crazy game
exactly!
Kobe can play I dont care what anyone says.
Thank God for the Lakers. Kobe is ridiculous.
Kobe fucking owns the Blazers in his career.
The blazers can't touch him.
i super totally powerfully strengthenly awesomely powerhousely agree with you =D
This is back when he could still jump
Greatness dynamic
But stand alone, MJ had it all. Scoring titles, defensive player of the year and MJ currently is the all time assist leader for the bulls. Kobe will never get that stat.
OH MY GOD
for real. many teams don't have any more enthusiasm anymore. GO LAKERS!!!!
Motivation of this game, Kobe wants to end Lakers 7 game losing streak, longest in Pjax resume. If Le balco got this team in the West he will sit out half of the remainder of the season.
Imagine at this time if Kobe had one more decent player on his team that was actually consistent. We would probably be seeing a man with 7-9 rings.
Kobe had to play in a tough western conference those years. Eastern conference has been a for awhile. Except for the Heat winning the title last year.
i remeber watching all 5 games when he scored 50 amazing has jordan done that?
kobe shoulda won mvp in 2007
@SantaNoob yeah since 2003, for my age (19) its actually a while, half of my life haha. Nearly a decade of fandom now. I'm from Kansas City, so we don't have a basketball team, and I needed somebody to root for. When I watched the Lakers play at Staples, I just instantly got hooked to their games. I would sit there glued to the TV, 11 years old. When they beat the Celtics in 2010, I was I was at a sports bar with my buddy Tiree.. we hugged for a minute (no homo)...
The black momba!!!!!!! Got damn he was on fire.... Banoodles!!!!!
and they all chanting "Kobe, Kobe, Kobe" lol. He's great!!
lmao at that half court shot!!!! kobe is awesome
Sick quality .. 16 Bit - Super Nintendo Graphics
This is why he's the best in my mind just a great scorer in every way prettiest footwork! Without that dribble a 73 ft and 1... haha i love how announcrs use to sugar coat it "he could go to KWAME BROWN or BRIAN COOK" they are both 12th man
Id like to see anyone else do that. NBA players say that their elbows hurt if they shoot alot. You dont know how hard it is to play 40 minutes running up and down the court, playing defense, and scoring even 15 points. Let alone 81. And he shot over 50% from both 3pt range and inside
Mama, There Goes That Man
29 points scored in the last 6 minutes of the game? gee where does he get this
@midwestking100 Exactly!
I love these announcers haha
kobe had 38 with 6:43 to the end of the 4q and he finished with 65 wow
My English teacher in college is currently having us write a paper on the different type of fallacies exhibited in every day life. CZcams comments would be the absolute best place to find each and every type of fallacy.
They had Sasha starting at small forward, da*n that's week, seriously. Oh well, there's a Laker 5-peat(at least) coming up, and 5 finals mvps for Kobe( plus 3 or 4 regular season MVPs). It's a good day to be a Laker fan.
I always wondered, what do you determine to be the standard for a player to be better than another? The two players at their prime, the players after a certain amount in the league or the two players right now?
You know it's a crappy team when the commentator says "Sasha a late add to the starting lineup instead of LUKE WALTON".. seriously?.. Thank God they had Kobe
Why don't you post more of his games from the playoffs?
Nor am i trying to take that fact away, but im putting it in perspective.
old enough to know my stuff about basketball.
that is so true. lebron shoots when he is alone and unlike kobe, with multiple defenders against him.
smart man
I would say Kobe Bryant is the best "shot maker" to ever play this game! Not the best scorer, not the best player, but by far he is the best "shot maker" to ever pick up a basketball. I would also argue he is arguably the best crunch time play maker next to MJ. I am not saying he is better than MJ, just that he is just as good during the latter parts of a bball game.
@fibend and to reiterate... he shot 58 %... that is incredible for this amount of points. Theres like 15 ppl in the history of professional basketball that have ever scored this many. Maybe less.
on the offensive side of the floor...jordan dominated the defensive end of the floor like no other guard
9:24
wow, pause it, look at that form! textbook
look at the elevation!
i get pissed when i watch kobe highlights cuz i know that i will never be that great
watching it live was so insane, i started laughing at how amazing he is, his overall offensive game is just about unstoppable
nice bench, kobe making clutch 3 after clutch 3 and only vujacic stands up
best in the league
it isn't even a contest, who else can measure up in this era
People can dislike Kobe all they want to but you have to respect his game. Can you name any other player to score 81 points in an NBA game ? Not counting Wilt's 100 against a bunch of small white guys that couldn't play
Back when Kobe had to score 65 and the Lakers barely won. Lakers are a much better team now and Kobe doesn't have to carry any more.
@JPMartin5 a while?
@comput9 kobe has been injured for two yrs straight but that'll change. kobe has decided to commit he summer to just gettin back healthy! that means more games like this next season!!!!
two of the three players in the starting line up for this team are in the league, Kobe, and if anyone could ever believe it, Kwame brown. Who would of thought?
@92plana Jordan was drafted to a Bulls team that hadn't been in the playoffs for years. The former great LA Lakers announcer (Chick Hearn) said it best, saying before Jordan, the Bulls were the Cows. That Bulls team had to transform into a great team over seasons, Scottie Pippen was booed when He first was drafted. Scottie worked hard surprising everyone, He wasn't a Shaquille O'neal who already had been to the Nba Finals. Yes Scottie was talented, but nobody knew who He was at that time.
@SwaggerLikeUz Exactly...Jordan defined conventional wisdom in a era of the big men...i.e. Hakeem, Shaq, Robinson, Ewing, Mourning, Mutombo, etc
