I'm not sure how it's possible, but when his career is over I think Kobe will go down as one of the most under-appreciated players ever.
Some people will deny greatness because he isnt their favorite.
kobe deserves more MVP's then he has.
Kobe is, along with MJ and Wilt, one of the top 3 best scorers ever. His shooting range is unreal, unlike LeChoke, who scores only on lay-ups and wide open 3s.
As a Knicks fan, you really don't expect anything less from the best. Lebron kills us. Kobe kills us. Jordan killed us, cremated us, and then sniffed the ashes. I wouldn't have it any other way.
The only reason why kobe had low assists in these kinda games is because......why pass the ball when your on fire ? As a player when your on fire and you have the ball in your hands you become eager and hungery to score. and Majority coaches say "shoot till you miss" when your on fire .
The reason why I watch NBA is because of Kobe. He's my favorite player of all times. Very humble and unassuming. He acknowledges his blessings.
People truly forget this man's greatness in his prime, only because lebron is the present. In his young prime, kobe was in every way TOTALLY unguardable. His athleticism, footwork, Jumpshot(which is universally accepted as better than Jordan's Jumper) and his will to win was unmatched. This guy performed in the most hostile enviroments(PLAYOFFS!), facing scrutiny and hate, and has produced EVERY YEAR for 18yrs! People will one day realize just how great this guy really was! 2nd ONLY to Jordan!
Kobe was amazing. I hated him so much because of the Jordan comparisons…. but this guy's work ethic, his ability to emulate MJ to a tee… just incredible. On top of that, he's respectful towards the greats and despite being ranked top 10, IMO he'll be underrated. To do with MJ/Kobe did at the shooting guard position with their size is VERY difficult and requires an absurd amount of skill. They were specifically scorers though they had other abilities as well - they didn't crack the top 10 assisting or muscling near the basket. That's just pure ability. Both have shown that they can assist with the best (MJ's 32/8/8 season the year he played PG for the Bulls and Kobe's stretch of 13 assist games last season, for instance).

Kobe did that on my birthday. What a great present :)
look how kobe scores... all mid range... he doesn't buly his way to the basket and pray for calls.. its 100% skill, 100% dedication
The Record no more! Congrats to Carmelo Anthony!
so much hate, lol/ kobe 81 is better than all the performances you guys are naming down here, except for wilt, and that because he was the fucking tallest guy on the court. 7 feet and just mostly sitting under the rim the whole time. I want someone to say something about LeBron, hes a team player, people like melo, Durant, kobe, mj or individual players. thats why i when i hear people compare lbj to micheal, I look at them crazy and says no LeBron plays more like magic then anyone
Wow, you know you're good when you get a standing ovation at the away arena.
Kobe even gets MVP chants at away games.
Kobe and Jordan are just way too good.
Kobe is just the man. I love that he pretends that he didn't know what the record was and the reporter swallows it up.
This isn't the record nomore congrats melo
congrats melo lol!
there will never be another Kobe Bryant.....but Kobe is the closest thing to ever being another Kobe Bryant
I started watching basketball in 1991 when I was 11 years old, so I've seen Jordan take the ring 91, 92, 93, and I saw his comeback in 1995 when he scored 55 points against the Knicks, I saw him take the ring in 96, 97, and 98. I think I saw around 60+ games in 95/96 season when bulls had a record 72 wins 10 losses. I remember Kobe's draft to Hornets in 1996 and his first few games off the bench with Lakers. I also very well remember All-Star in 98.
Jordan is the best, Kobe is right next to him
