Great video iv got air bricks on the front of my house like that one and when it's windy it blows right up though the living room floor should I seal it or leave it ,have you any ideas on ventilation iv got no vents apart from the air bricks on the outer wall cheers
Hi Sam, my property is of the same build and age. Concrete floor with no dpm in kitchen is causing low level damp. Seen you mention in another video they bridged the damp course in that era with the floors. What is the fix for this? A new chemical dpm injected above the concrete floor as access can’t be gain below? Also our has been repointed which again you said can bridge it! What is the fix for this? Many thanks
Every job is different and has to be surveyed that way but if the floor is over the dpc you need to put a new one above floor level. You can apply StormDry outside.
I’ve got a 1930s end of terrace house that I’ve lived in for a month so far. Can see repointing on the front face but experiencing in the front right and back right corners of the house where two external facing walls join, damp/mould growth. Discovered for the first time last week and cleaned with bleach but this is only on the upstairs, not downstairs. Any advice?
@@dampsam Energy conservation is a number 1 priority now. What people spend on higher mortgage could recouped on conservation. I love the idea of carbon reduction and all that, but we are all hypocrites when we fly to Spain etc.
Your welcome Sam. U installed for the first time ever cavity closures and I used really strong g glue ni nails which worked out better than screws or nails and also no gaps between the nails which I thought was better and easier to do. I dud however had to wait for it to dry out fir a sat prior to putting my window cills on top. I didn't plaster but thought it be better next time to plaster fir extra insulation before putting my cill boards on
the amount of old houses that have been bridged and done in sand and cement on solid walls is stupid then they have bloody dry rods smacked in all round the place stupid

You can buy a cowl that fits over the air brick to stop air blowing straight through

Yes don’t use bleach and look at getting adequate ventilation. Have a qualified competent specialist survey the property too

The thickness would depend on the thickness of the plaster removed

You say it’s a solid wall but the bricks are laid in stretcher bond suggesting cavity?
It’s classed as solid because the 2 skins are Sat that close together with no cavity, they fill up with debris making it a solid structure
