One great thing about this biopic: Jerry Lee himself did the soundtrack and they are new versions of his classics. That alone is a 10/10 for me.
Fun fact: My mom was in this movie and had her one dance scene with someone else so its super awesome to look back on the movie!
I found out what exact time it was at she did a backflip with a boy at 0:49:56 (in the actual movie) She was the one with brown hair black dress and a blue sweater doing a back flip with the boy
Dennis Quaid and Winona Ryder did a great job in this movie; man I miss the films of the 80's. Rest in Peace Jerry Lee Lewis.

Brown, Stephen Tobolowsky as Jud Phillips, Trey Wilson as Sam Phillips and Alec Baldwin as Jimmy Swaggart.

I noticed that there are a few bits in this trailer that never made it in the final cut. I wonder if Orion still has all the original footage so they can add it back in? Next year will be 35th anniversary of this movie, so it’d be nice if we had some sort of “Directors Cut”!

Just a way of saying that he was influenced by both raunchy R&B and rockabilly music.
Remember, white people playing black music was shocking at that time.
And while Elvis watered down and sanitized a lot of R&B, Jerry Lee played it with the same bravado he had heard in black clubs.

Jerry Lee Lewis played a lot of catchy swinging bass lines in his left hand. Very much a boogie woogie sound which was predominantly a “black” style of music. Many popular song writers of the era avoided a “Boogie Woogie” sound in order to avoid invoking a “black music” connection.
His right hand was very percussive and frenetic.
