Ezio and Rosa: Full Story of Assassin and a Cute Thief (Assassin's Creed 2)

- Full story behind Rosa the thief. Rosa (1460 - unknown) was a member of the Venetian Thieves Guild led by Antonio de Magianis, and later the Madame of the Rosa in Fiore and a member of the Assassin Order. Around the year 1460, a Venetian nobleman paid a prostitute for her services, and Rosa was conceived as a result. Since the woman could not raise her child, Rosa was left to survive in the streets of Venice on her own. At the age of fifteen, Rosa attempted to steal from Antonio de Magianis, a stranger to her at the time, though she was ultimately caught. As the leader of the Venetian Thieves Guild, Antonio decided to raise Rosa as his pupil, rather than turn her over to the guards. Throughout her apprenticeship, Antonio noted many of Rosa's talents, especially her high level of agility. He also seemed to maintain a very parental relationship with Rosa, and would often call her "piccola" ("sweetheart" or "little darling").
In 1480, Rosa and several of her fellow thieves staged an attack on the Palazzo della Seta, from where the corrupt Emilio Barbarigo ruled over Venice's merchants. While her allies distracted the guards, Rosa began to scale the building, but she was hit in the leg by an arrow from archers patrolling the Palazzo. Too injured to run, she demanded help from a nearby Ezio Auditore da Firenze, whom she had pickpocketed earlier that day. Despite this, Ezio consented, and protected her as they hurried towards the canals. Along the way, Rosa proudly held her own, but eventually collapsed and was unable to walk any further. Ezio carried her until they met with Rosa's fellow thief Ugo, who placed her in a nearby gondola. Ugo managed to ferry Rosa to the guild, while Ezio took out the archers pursuing them.
Once they had reached the guild, Rosa shouted insults at Ugo for causing her pain, which led to Ezio carrying her once more. After this, the two reached Antonio, who pulled the arrow out of Rosa's thigh, much to her discomfort. She was then taken by her fellow thieves to a doctor to patch up her injury. As she recovered from her wounds, Rosa taught Ezio how to grab higher ledges while scaling buildings, in gratitude for his help. After Ezio's first successful climb-leap attempt, Rosa challenged him to race up the Basilica di Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari within a set time, which he did successfully.
Years later, in 1485, Rosa aided Ezio and the other thieves in a second assault on the Palazzo della Seta. Ezio killed the archers guarding the palazzo, allowing Rosa and other members of the Thieves Guild to disguise themselves and take their place. After Ezio successfully assassinated Emilio Barbarigo, Rosa and the other thieves shot down the rest of the guards, then she and Ezio opened the palazzo's gates for Antonio. In 1488, on Ezio's birthday, Rosa gifted him with a shipping manifest from the Arsenale di Venezia, which detailed the arrival of a Templar boat the following day.
In 1504, Claudia Auditore da Firenze, the Madame of the Rosa in Fiore in Rome, stepped down from her role after being assaulted by Borgia fanatics. Soon after, Antonio was contacted by his fellow thief and Assassin La Volpe, who asked him if Rosa would like to replace Claudia as the brothel's Madame. Rosa agreed and moved to Rome. By 1512, Rosa rose to the position of leader of the Italian Assassins.
Romantic life
After being rescued, Rosa's attitude towards Ezio changed drastically. She became flirtatious and more intimate; on one occasion, she became excited when Ezio stated that he needed her, only to be disappointed when he clarified that he wanted to learn her climbing technique. She also seemed to revert to her true self when around him, instead of the "tough thief" image she maintained most of the time. Over the years, Ezio maintained a close, intimate friendship with Rosa, and the two were often seen flirting whenever in each other's company. This could be seen in one such occasion, when Rosa woke Ezio in his sleeping quarters and challenged him to a race, before kissing him passionately upon the Venice rooftops.

I'm not sure if it's true or if it's just a rumour spread after the actress's death, but apparently Rosa was supposed to appear in and have a more expanded role in AC: Brotherhood than in ACII, but of course the actress's death prevented that.
I believe it is canon though that after Claudia Auditore stepped down as the Madame of the Rosa in Fiore following her being assaulted by the Borgia, La Volpe contacted Antonio from the Venetian Thieves Guild and asked about Rosa taking Claudia's place as Madame, an offer which Rosa accepted.
Shame the actress died, it would have been good to see her have a more expanded role in Brotherhood.
I know so sad in both in game and in real life but she will always have a special place in everyone's heart and every true AC fan. May she rest in peace. She has earned every single part of it.

I always like Ezio playful personality and as story progresses in trilogy you can see he got more mature and the playful personality got subtle. not gone, but subtle. One of Great character development in game history indeed.

Shame her VA died back then, in the novel AC Renaissance they were explicitly a couple for several years when Ezio lived in Venice with the thieves. There was absolutely no ambiguity about it. Antonio said Ezio was the only person Rosa could be her “true self” around. They loved each other and supported each other in everything.
Apparently the plan was that the romance would have been in Brotherhood at the very least, she might have ended up being Desmond’s ancestor.
What happened after those years? Did they split up or did Rosa die?

@@oldchannelforayoungstupidf2649 If I recall correctly, in the Brotherhood book there's some story that happens between Cesare's arrest and the events in Viana in 1507. So in 1506 I believe, Claudia was kidnapped by Borgia allies and Ezio rescued her, but after the ordeal she steps down as Madame of the Rosa in Fiore and goes to stay with Paula back in Florence to recover. At this point, La Volpe then arranges for Rosa to take over as Madame of the brothel and later became an official leader amonsgt the Italian Assassins by the time of Revelations. There's no mention of her past that point.

In the novel they did end up together but in my opinion they handled it better in the game id rather see ezio just flirt with rosa than actually cheat on her ,they only made them lovers in the novel just for fan service and because they wanna go along with the game and pay their respects to the voice actor they broke them up for unknown reasons in the novel,and she was never mentioned in the game,

I know the voice actress passed away 😢. But in the other assassin's creed games with ezio its like her character never even existed. They never mention her again, they took away that jump move she taught him. Its like the character disappeared. I know they could be doing that out of respect but they could have still made the game exciting with her. Like rosa could have been killed off and ezio hunts down who killed her.

In a way Rosa was extremely vital to the entire Ac franchise because if she did not give Ezio the shipping manifest he would not show up to confront Rodrigo in the floating city with the apple of eden like the legend said. I feel like Rosa might be pregnant during his stay in Venice, but choose to keep the information a secret until Ezio is done with his jobs. Later on, Ezio's hated enemy became the new Pope, and his insane faction is planning something big. More than that, after the siege of Monteriggioni Castle, Ezio was presumed dead, and pretty much everyone else being hunted, Rosa had no other choice but to hide herself and her child from the rest of the world and this child would one day become Clay's ancestor.

the freaking level of developement that went into ezio is amazing. i mean i feel like most of the characters since have just been able to do most shit. even edward just did shit with the hidden blade without any training and pulled it off.

Revelations is the last game in the ezio trilogy. I recommend playing the earlier games first from ezio. The first game is assasins creed 2 and after that you have brotherhood.

In the Canon Novels (wrote by the Game story Writer himself). Ezio and Rosa were in a Platonic Relationship from 1481 and 1488. Like flirting, kissing and Having sex. So, they Were lovers, kind of. I mean Ezio was 22 and She was 21. It wasn't meant to be a serious relationship. Not to mention he was still crazy about Christina. Then he met Sofia, his more serious love.

Rosa was my favourite. Now I know why I didn't see her till the end. Way better than Caterina and Sofia
Rosa role was supposed to have a big role Brotherbood if i hear correctly, but Rosa characters got remove from the game after rosa voice actress Lita died in a car accident two days before the production begin, as the result, they decide to remove rosa out of respect to Lita and it really sad as Rosa characters has so many potential.
