  • This old carb was leaking a little, plus some of the bolts had loosened up. The power valve switch was broken too, so I went and removed the carb and made a few adjustments. Overall, this carb is still working great, but it needed a few fixes to keep it reliable and safe.

I would definitely appreciate a rebuild video of this carb. It's one of the things on my to-do list. I recently purchased a 1994 Chris Craft 217 Concept Bowrider with a 5.0l OMC that I'm going to be completely rebuilding. I've watched all of your videos and gained a LOT of knowledge from them already, and will be referring back to them as I work my way through this project. I can't say "Thank You" enough for the content and information you've provided!

Would also appreciate a rebuild video on a 2 barrel. Great content. Thank you!

That "return" is for fuel that might leak from the fuel pump due to a ruptured diaphram straight into the carbeuretor instead of dumping it into the bilge... not overflow from the carb into the fuel pump.

Thanks for clarifying that! I’ll reference the correct usage on the next video. Please hit that subscribe button.

    I just bought a 95 four winns with a 5.0 Volvo Penta “ford 302”
I’ve move the distributer all around. Had it at top dead center with the correct firing order and cannot get it to fire up. It will backfire through the back. That’s as far as I’ve gotten… any ideas?

Would definitely like to see a rebuild on this one very similar to the one I have.

you were close on that vacuum fitting, its to recover fumes from the pump, automotive pumps vent it straight to atmosphere they have no bilge for the gasses to accumulate.

Thanks! I knew there were these marine specific ports and they were fuel related-great details.

Off topic question, I have a VP 5.0 GL I have an opportunity to get a 5.0GXI Intake head and convert to Fuel Injected. How difficult would it be???? What would be the possible pitfalls?? I have mechanical skills and have worked on engines in the past.

Hey Michael, long time viewer. Do you have a video of you repairing gel coat on a hull?

Call this company and let them know the size of your project. Ask them to sell you the rollers and material from this company. Give their sales team a call. Gelcoats can just be rolled on with a roller. www.uscomposites.com/polyesters.html
