I'm so angry that I just found her music recently this is phenomenal
Me in 2021
Ditto. But I had heard of Dresden Dolls at least by name.
... but then I was pleased life still gave me nice things, if I just opened my eyes/heart. I've said this before, but I'll never close myself off again. We'll see:)
I've never been so in love with a musician. The sheer amount of emotion is incredible.
I'm not sure why, but this song always makes me burst into tears. Just big ugly bawling tears.
If I could learn how to play this song, just this song, I'd be happy and content for the rest of my life. Amanda Fucking Palmer is spectacular, and the worst-kept secret of the music world.
I LOVE THIS VERSION!!
This is my absolute FAVORITE performance of Astronaut. I love it so much & it was the first one I heard.
I think I like this song better with just the piano :)
either way I LOVE YOU!
Same!
so much emotion in this song AFP is perfect
I love the energy that Amanda puts into her performances, she is one of the most talented solo artists out their now!!
that's amazing!! my first impression was like 'what the' but the passion just draws you in and i could feel myself being moved....
phenomenal!!
Amanda's voice is just different--and a VERY refreshing different. I love her voice--so much emotion. It's not a pretty voice, but I love listening to it. She's an incredible performer. Rock on, Amanda!!
My God Amanda! This is the 1st time I've heard you without Brian and I am speechless! Your compositions are so special and rare. Your passion touches me to the core of my heart and soul! You are a living legend! I LOVE YOU!
2k15 and I still can't get enough of this performance
nd again nd again nd again....

thank u, Amanda!!! ;)
I just love this woman. In The Dresden Dolls & now on her solo project. The new album is awesome. This is one of my favorite songs on it.
I know! I've never seen anybody put as much emotion into their music as Amanda has.
thats what makes an amazing artist such as amanda palmer
The way this song climaxes is unreal.
It takes hold of me; It shoots me up into the sky...^.
All musicians should be so emotionally into the music they are playing as she is...
It's really something; the way her voice breaks... the way she shakes...
This is the way music is meant to be.
My heart breaks a little bit more every time I watch this version.
I love this song so much!!! amanda palmer has real talent.. she sings with passion unlike other singers who lip sing all there performances... she is the BEST singer EVER!!!
Beautiful. Simply beautiful.
yes, she is amazing and that star that she has will last forever. there will be nobody with the same voice as her until the end of earth and space. she is beutifull and talented cos now she is popular anybody that says anything bad about her will not be liked. that is a speshol thing about singers, actors, stars or anything like that!
"this is the only song in the world where i find a cracking voice beautiful."
This and the Rolling Stones "Gimme Shelter" has a woman named Merry Clayton ripping it with a cracking voice.
So much passion and emotion in her singing. I love it.
If there is a god, this woman is it.
I have never come across another artist who is so passionate about what they do.
She will never cease to amazing me.
This is so amazing! I can understand why people dont appreciate her as she isnt the best singer in the world bt she is so talented and so honestly raw. One of the best live acts I have ever seen, she is fabulous!
Oh my God I can't stop watching this video..
Probably the best performance of this song I've ever seen...
It gives me goosebumps!

Just look at her face.
Thats where you can tell the true artists.
The song effects her so much. It comes from the heart.
She never ceases to amaze me.
its sounds as great as the studio version, i love her♥
I LOVE Amanda Palmer, her voice is the same regardless of if it's on her records, or in person, she is such an amazing artist and I wish I could meet her and shake her hand and thank her for her amazing music which has helped me through my recent break up!
Amazing. So much raw passion. I love it.

I'm at a loss for words. This is excellent.

amanda palmer is my hero.
i'm 12.
i play piano because of her.
i write music because of her.
i love amanda palmer.
weird seeing this now knowing you’re in your late 20s
Cuts so deep. I remember learning this on keys in the run up to the release of WKAP. I think I had ripped this version to my ipod...cos that's how we did back then.
I LOVE this song she is so talented!!
So impacting with emotion. I love her.
Amazing, simply Brilliant.
I think she's helping to rebuild the music industry from the inside out. Spectacular.
Just an amazing performance.
No one can insult this song, or can even do better. Until the critics can prove themselves better they should keep to themselves. Because it is obvious that many people don't know how much hard work goes into making music. On another note, great song, love the live versions, they are amazing
Yes, she's already released a book of sheets for "Who Killed Amanda Palmer". It's available on Amazon, I believe.
She Rocks!
soooo much!
I love her dress. I've never heard this song before and it's mad good.
No one beats Amanda, man.
Wow, brilliant, what a woman what a singer.
Reminds me of Hazel O´Connor.
She's so captivating
this is sooooo catchy song!!!!
It's sad really ...that people need to validate themselves and their opinions through speading negativity.
Amanda you are incredibly talented - never stop!!
I idolize Amanda Palmer more than ANY solo entertainer. Sheer talent & class.
Sends chills up my spine....
Love it.
i love this
I saw her last night and was blown away. Absolutely great entertainer. I was in rapture the whole time.
uaaahhh!!! stupenda
@OperaOfInsanity And that is why we adore her!
love
Amanada Palmer has immense amounts of talent!
She's amazing!
I want her to live forever
You nailed it Amanda.
Is it enough to have some love
Small enough to slip inside a book
Small enough to cover with your hand
Because everyone around you wants to look
It is enough to have some love
Small enough to slip inside the cracks
The pieces don't fit together so good
With all the breaking and all the gluing back
And i am still not getting what i want
I want to touch the back of your right arm
I wish you could remind me who i was
Because every day I'm a little further off
But you are, my love, the astronaut
Flying in the face of science
I will gladly stay an afterthought
Just bring back some nice reminders
And is it getting harder to pretend
That life goes on without you in the wake
And can you see the means without the end
In the random frantic action that we take
And is it getting easy not to care
Despite the many rings around your name
It isn't funny and it isn't fair
You've traveled all this way and it's the same
But you are, my love, the astronaut
Flying in the face of science
I will gladly stay an afterthought
Just bring back some nice reminders
And i would tell them anything to see you split the evening
But as you see i do not have an awful lot to tell
Everybody's sick for something that they can find fascinating
Everyone but you and even you aren't feeling well
But you are, my love, the astronaut
Flying in the face of science
I will gladly stay an afterthought
Just bring back some nice reminders
Yes you are, my love, the astronaut
Crashing in the name of science
Just my luck they sent your upper half
It's a very nice reminder
It's a very nice reminder
And you may be acquainted with the night
But I have seen the darkness in the day
And you must know it is a terrifying sight
Because you and i are living the same way
awesome voice she got....awesome..one of the things its worthed 2 live 4 ;)
nicely stated :), she looks so passioned.
in love with her
I play a Kurzweil keyboard too :) I always think of it as my tenuous connection to the great Amanda Palmer haha.
going to a concert of hers in Dublin in.,.... 3 hours!!! :O
aaaah im so excited!!
=]
I am going to see Amanda in Edinburgh this year and I need to ask her what she was singing when it sounds like "but thy couldn't they like hiding"
Did you ask her? I think she might be saying "but they couldn't care like I did"
@CherriSpryte
thats correct, it is "but they couldnt care like i did"
it is because she finished that song 10 minutes before stage time (she told in some interview) and it is about some rock star she used to date. she knew he would be at the show and the whole song is about him AND some astronauts widow. and she wished so much to play the song when hes in the crowd and thats why she improvised some finish lyrics. of course, afterwards, she had some time to change it for the album.
2021 here
shes so fantasticly theatrical ;)
wow, you played this song on your show at mexico city and I hadn't listen to it before so I didn't recognize it but it was pretty awesome anyway!
wow crazyness
2020 anyone? Early post Dresden Dolls era was her best
не то слово=)
Love Amanda more and more.
Okay. HOW can she BEAT that piano so frickin' hard, basically SHRED her vocal chords by burning up every last ounce of passion in her for one song, rock back and forth on her seat, stamp her foot, bear her teeth in her tumultuous, terrifyingly huge amounts of furious energy and STILL look and sound like an ultra fuming sex, punk and cabaret GODDESS?!
I'm lost...
bellisimo
Holy Man!!!!!
What happened to the guy in Dresden Dolls? They made great music together,
MAN!!!! She sings with so much emotion. She's a joy to listen to and watch. Awesome job!!
Oh, Amanda. I love your little dress thingy.
She's beautiful.
What are the lyrics toward the end?
After she says, "Yes, you are my love..."
When she starts yelling "But they couldn't..????"
Anybody know what the lyrics are there?
HAH!!! Thanks; it's all buena. I LOVE YOU (as a friend)!!!
I heart
they should be releasing a new album by the end of may
@Jakexxart its actually in english :3. perhaps your volume is not up enough? they are actually kinda similar languages.
Why does her not shaving her armpits mean she isn't taking care of herself? She shaves her eyebrows because she wants to, and she doesn't shave her armpits because she doesn't want to shave them. Has nothing to do with health or "taking care of" yourself. It's more of a personal choice.
I am still not getting what I want.
I want to go see her in concert.
you are amazingly beautiful -- what a breathtaking performance!
I saw her sing Creep with a ukulele. And that was enough for me.
What are the lyrics at the end of the last chorus?
