We can see Russia takes art very seriously! Before finding your channel, I had already heard you guys learn a lot more technique than we do in American art schools. I think it is great, because it is a basic step for any artist to master those techniques before developing their own way of expression.
CAN YOU IMAGINE THAT IN USSR BEFORE 1991 THE FIVE YEARS OF EDUCATION in THIS ART SCHOOL WHICH IS WAS AMING A MFA DEGREE --- WAS FREE WITHOUT ADMISSION FOR ALL CITIZENS OF UNION OF SOVIET SOCIALISTIC REPUBLICS, USSR --- THAT WAS A REAL SOCIALISM BABY...
MANHATTAN NEW YORK NEW YORK 1OO12 USA
They have interest in technique, but also a lot of coruption. I think the teachers there are like the mob, they receive bribe. This happens in my Romania, an ex-communist country under the soviet model. I'm sure it happens in Russia and even more.
@@bodeaalex1142 --- HEY -- GO WASH YOU BRAIN ... MAKE IT CLEAN AGAIN -- YOU ARE FULL OF PROPAGANDISTIC BULL SHIT TOWARDS RUSSIANS :))
Romania Is A Small Insignificant Country -- and You Are Comparing IT WITH USSR and you are also making some assumptions which just dum and ridiculous :))

@@igorvkuznetsov3518 , there's pros and cons in any government.
Clara, I don't know what school you went to (if you did go to any), but in any serious art school you will learn a ton of knowledge in two dimensional, three dimensional design, sculpture, drawing, painting, jewelry, woodworking, etc., not to mention graphic design...and, yes, even in the U.S.
You should be thankful that you can take classes there. In many places in the academies of the world they are more concerned with 'self-expression'. The school should be a place where you can learn the craft. Nice to see that I use the same brand of oil paint as you, the Russian oil paint is of very good quality.
What brand of oil paint is it? I couldn't make it out but it looks lovely
@@VillainMust it's a Master Class oil paint by Nevskaya Palitra (also called St. Petersburg Master class)

Great words!
Thank you for this classical art channel. I have never seen exact classical art student lifestyle in CZcams. Keep working, all the best 👍🏻
Thank U so much🥰
What art school did you go to?
This is what I'm striving for ever since I was young I just had a love for Russia idk why and so it's nice to see the art collages in Russia I'm learning Russian at the minute hoping to live that life
Thank you for this beautiful insight into your day at the art university. I like how you let the shots speak themselves without having to explain things to the viewers. I felt at peace. At one point, my mind went - "I want this kind of life". But, it also encouraged me to do well with what I have.
And I must mention that, looking at you, I got reminded of myself, because of the style. You looked beautiful, especially, when the sunlight hugged you.

the figure paintings are insane, this was such an enlightening vlog, looking forward to more content :)
So refreshing to see an art vlog where there is no voiceover. I enjoyed just watching the clips from your day! Looks like a lovely school.
Very calming video. I love the Russian Academic style! I wish there were more ways to learn it in the states. Good luck with your studies :)
Thank you so much🥰
This is so nostalgic. Looks just like what we did at my old art school. I'm not Russian tho.
That's a good day, I can see myself doing that without getting bored I'm enjoying it as if it was my day, thank you for sharing your day with us ❤️

stunning! loved seeing the studio/workshop spaces x
oh wow this is literally the best video i've seen in such as long time. i love how you kept switching between the paint and the view outside and filming small details that other people wouldn't have noticed. so so beautiful.
Thank you so much☺️💗💗💗💗💗
I loved drawing, sketching, painting.. Life dragged me away from it for too long. I wonder if I can still paint landscapes and fishes or draw portraits and figures like I used to. Glad you get to live this life.
One of the best art studios I've ever seen. This would be my second home.
Wow I always wonder if my art can be better if I attended professional training (I’m self taught). This is such a beautiful and calming vlog to watch! Saying hi to my fellow artist on CZcams 🥰 sending you support from Sydney Australia and merry Xmas!!! 🎄🎄🎄
Awwwww thank U so much💗☺️ Merry Xmas to you too🎄Best Wishes!☕️✨
Well, professional training has its advantages and disadvantages :) I believe such a thing as art should be free and on the one hand you are free to implement any of your ideas when you own the technique but you also have to follow academic standards and this limits this freedom hahah:) and also professional training can ruin your individuality:(
In any case, the most important thing is practice :)
(Btw your artworks are stunning😍😍😍)
Nice art vlog....I love it! Thanks for sharing ❤
Lovely tour of your one day in life at University ...impressive. Thanks for sharing...

100 % figurative and realistic with tradition way of way to draw and painting. Plato artistic ideal .
This reminds me of the time when I was in fine art school. Now I work mostly in the publishing field but I may get back with paints and canvas in the future.
So interesting to see art school insights! :)
Great video! Beautiful Russia!

I had a high regard for the Russian fine art. Keep more of this video journal coming Ksy.
Would love to see more content like that
Yes, I enjoyed it greatly. I was in Art College from 1976 to 1980. Much in this vlog was very familiar. Learning to see and modify without sympathy for ego. Your school is very technically excellent. I know little about how income comes to artists in Russia. Galleries? Commissions? Is income taxed before or after expenses? Does any of your education include portfolio development, or small business book keeping?
Yes, I’m interested in these questions as well! How does the practical side of an art profession differ from country to country? The US art programs don’t always teach this, nor at the ateliers. From what I’ve seen it’s suggested that “money will follow” if you continue making work, and students are encouraged to build personal connections with future buyers, rather than develop their business skills. I’d love to know how different art programs approach these questions!
Hi, i was really interested with your questions, and i hope the author will not mind if I, as a student, share my opinion. We can like artists make our own exhibitions, but only on a charitable basis (absolutely for free). But if your are popular one, you can try and organise oficial show, but it s really expensive idea. What about education. In universities we havent got a lot of information about moneytisation and in the future we will have to draw a lot commissions with furry to have money for food and new art matereals :) For real in Russia you havent got so many variants for future, and many of us only dreaming about wellpaid job in our area. And yeah, we often throw our arts (what we draw in university) like a trash (because it is only academic works, not real artworks) or paint them over for new one.
@@LindaWorking Thank you. Securing income from from other employment can see 60% spent on space and materials. Art is supported by artists, not patrons.
Looks like there is a strong emphasis on traditional-analogue tools. Very cool to see! Is there any exposure to new methods like; 3d modeling, digital painting, vr painting, 3d scanning?
Thanks😸 noo only traditional painting hahah)
russia has so many great artists
but this country and society doesn't appreciate any of people work and any arts.
@@CamelliaFlingert You are pretty preconceived about Russia, we have a lot of great galleries, Russian people are informed about our art history, there are lots of art schools. You’ll make a favour to my country and all Russian people, if you won’t judge by foreign propaganda about Russia.

thank you for the opportunity to see an art university. i alws wanted to go to at least an art school, but my parents were extremely poor, i didn't even had money for notebooks, sketchbooks or paints...
I want to see your art and the other students…. Be safe
Yoo thanks for making this video! Ive always wondered what it was like over there! Question: Those paintings you showed- is that student work?
Yes! All the artworks in this video are made by students! the large paintings in the hall at 3:08 were made by students about 40-50 years ago.
Please keep posting ❤
Hey!! I loved watching your video, I really heard about how arts is taken more seriously in Russia and watching your video I can conclude this is true :) Could you tell me a bit about how did you started studying there, how is the process to start studying art in Russia, do we need a portfolio or something like that?
Hey! Thank you💗
Well, people usually enter this university after Russian art colleges, but I studied at a regular art school and studied additionally with teachers two years before admission :) If you are russian, to enter you need to pass several exams - show a portfolio, painting exam and drawing exam (they last 3 days, you will have to paint an draw model (portrait or portrait with hands), composition exam, also you need to pass Russian language and literature exams :)
for foreign students, the admission process is different, I don’t know exactly what exams they have (portfolio for sure + something else), but I know that it is much easier😅
Lovely.
hi, loved this video ! what is the camera you're using ? :)
Hey! Thanks🥰
I’m using just an iPhone for now, but I dream of professional camera hahah:)
this is hella cool
super!
super!
super!
I wish I could come there in future for master's degree in art
wonderful.
What are the steps to apply and try to enter to that uni? Loved the video tho
Thank U💗
For this uni you need to collect the necessary documents and pass exams there - showing a portfolio, drawing exam, painting exam and composition exam + Russian language and literature exams! you need to get high points for all exams and you will enter :) (this is for residents of Russia, but for foreigners, exams are easier and there are fewer of them, so it is easier for foreigners to enter)
@@ksyelf5820 thank you so much for answering

Yes it's calming, but I didn't see much happening. I fondly recall one of our art professors saying at a large multi-class group critique: "Almost everything here is beneath criticism. There are only 2 good paintings here." I often think back to that because he was right, almost all student work is quite bad. I know, students are there to learn. But the problem is there is never anyone to actually teach anything, and besides, I've always felt that all artists are "self-taught" anyway. It's impossible to be taught skills and insights that one doesn't already innately have.
thanks for sharing this
