    Diane: "You can get a lot of research done if you don't sleep." Love it! Just pretend you're back in college, right? Grab the coffee and get to it.

    I started my family genealogy research about 4 months ago. I just found an ancestor who was at least drafted in 1780 and given his uniform. I hope this will help me learn more. Even though this video is two years old, the info is evergreen!

      Even it is older, the info is still good. Welcome to GTV.

    Perfect timing...along with the celebration of Independence Day, the DAR is currently hosting its Continental Congress this week in Washington, D.C. Great information

    I have seen some of those records of being paid in land. Interesting to know why those existed.

    My Loyalists were given land on a Brantford Six Nations Indian Reservation near Toronto. They were given 222 acres to grow grains on and were helped with tools. Six Nations Reservation is still there but has shrank down greatly.

    Maybe you could do a video about using the open tabs to document a search you have done.

    In the revolution would they place soldiers from different states together? My ancestor is Ben Stone from VA. Some records suggest he camped at valley forge but searching the online muster there are only two Ben stone's: a captain serving New Hampshire and a private serving Massachusetts.

    Whoa. Quotes around "Rev War"...like Google. Who knew. (!!) Or I should say three years of Ancestry subscription...and I have grown to hate this search engine :( Their search engine is not designed by a person or people who think like I do! Title and Keywords. Why not put explanations by those buttons. My goodness! Also, it is good to know InterLibLoan is down. I have had luck getting books on archives at eBay. I have no idea how it happened but I stumbled on to it. Someone republished a book from 1900 in 2012, which made it not be free anymore(ugh, don't get me started) and ILL was down so I started searching Google, etc for it and somehow Ifound it on Ebay downloadable PDF. Logistics and paywalls at archives are my brickwalls at this point.

    Connie, is there an online list of Rev. War graves?

    • @GenealogyTV
      @GenealogyTV  Před 5 měsíci

      Off hand, not that I can think of. One of the best resources is Fold3... and or the National Archives.

      Connie, I see DAR has a list but it's unclear how one gets access to it. I couldn't find it online. I've been searching relentlessly for my grandfather Jonathan Macomber in NY without success and it makes no sense since he was on the pension records.@@GenealogyTV
