Ginwoo has ZERO style. every time he lands a trick and throws his hands up he looks right at his father, who probably beats him and tells him his family will lose their honor if they don't land tricks😅😅
      pathetic.
those kids have no love of skating they only care Abt winning a contest
Ginwoo had the WORST style at the X Games period.
re watch it and try to argue that.
😅😅😅😅 GINWOO, NO RICE FOR YOU, U STEAL OUR FAMILY HONOR! (SLAP, SLAP)😅😅😅😅
thankfully real skate media like thrasher could give a shit less about little kids w no style landing tricks in a perfectly built park, but only cares about real skating, something those little kids will NEVER take over😅cuz they got no style.

I'd like to make a point at a more subjective interpretation on how 'out of the blue' there's so many great japanese skaters. And it is due to Yuto Horigome. See Brazil's case (I'm brazillian). People used to say: "What is in brazil water? How are they so good at skateboarding?" If you stop no think, there's no reason for brazillians been good at skateboarding. We did not invented the sport, we are so far away from the country where it is more popular (USA)... and yet... we are top 3 country. You know why? Because back them we had Bob Burnquist winning X Games over and over again in open TV, for every brazillian kid to watch. Thats the same for Japan. And for other countries... all they need is a big inspiration to boost the scene at the country.

      Eae blz?

One random and weird thought/correlation about the USA, Brazil, and Japan seemingly dominating skateboarding....isn't it odd that baseball seems VERY similar? The Japanese league used to be viewed as maybe equivalent to AAA minor leagues in the USA, but nowadays the level is much closer to MLB according to a lot of fans. And more and more Japanese stars are moving to the MLB. And there are many south and central Americans dominating on the MLB stage too, just like the Street League Skateboarding events have progressed over recent years.

Chris Lilly predicted this 12 years ago with his show “Angry Boys”. One of his characters was a Japanese skate mom who forced her son (a professional contest skater) to identify as gay for extra sponsorship deals. This show aired in 2011 -2012 and i cant stop thinking about it.

Yea jpn is there to stay. Unlike other sports such as NFL or NBA, or really any other physical sport. Skateboarding allows pretty much any age to go pro or skate in pro contests as long as they wear a helmet and make the cut. So, with that said it makes sense for jpn to raise their kids very young. Once they go pro the money and sponsorships start flowing in.

  • @173jaSon371
    @173jaSon371 Před 9 měsíci +3

Nyjah is to skateboarding what Tom Brady was to American Football. He dominated so hard for so long that he heavily skews all of the stats.
It's also so hard to analyze something like skateboarding where you can develop at your own pace from any age. You can't exactly practice football at age 3 o 4 and you can't be better than most adults by age 10-12 like in skating(Nyjah, Ginwoo, Sheckler, etc).
It's also weird to realize that competitive skating is now no different than baseball imo. You need to live in a place with a great skate scene and have places to ride nearby. America is so big and the population so spread out outside of major metros, that most people do not grow up with great skating spots. Not sure how that compares to Japan. Nowadays, skaters have coaches and regimented diets and exercising, whereas back in the day, it was just skate rats drinking booze to make wizard sticks to swing around on a lit up halfpipe lmao. Crazy to see the changes and progression.

I really like your coverage of various competitions and other content, but my dumb animal brain can't keep up with a lot of the info being presented on-screen. So I feel emboldened to leave some feedback this time. . .
    - I'd like to see graphics that are easier to comprehend at a glance, such as colorful bar charts and pie graphs (which you use sometimes) rather than spreadsheets
    - The spread sheets can be very hard to read, especially when the screen shot is stretched out, scrolling/zooming, and given little space next to the skateboarding
    - Like someone else already mentioned, giving more spotlight to the data itself would be rad
    - You have a wonderful narration voice, but at times it feels like you're rifling off info at a constant speed. I wish the pacing was better by breaking up some of the info into easily digestable sections with sub headers or something.
I've always felt this channel has a lot of potential and I'm generally excited when you decide to cover a recent event.

japan wont ever surpass a certain level because it is inspired by american skateboarding, the style the clothes, none of it is original its all american copied. at Ginwoos age, Nyjah was doing bigger and more things and i believe nyjah still holds record for earliest x games win. as well as another 11 year old kid.
also japanese skaters have no originality or soul to their skating , its just very technical, they come and go as fast as they improve. yuto is good at comps but still doesnt hold a candle to Nyjahs street parts

it's cuz they don't have the passion.
they skate cuz their dad beats them and only feeds him rice if he don't land tricks😅😅😅😅😅😅
Ginwoo has the worst style literally that I've ever seen in a contest and I've been watching skating since the mid 90s
watch his run lmfao every time he lands switch he has to pivot back to regular😅😅😅😅😅😅 worst style ever u see better style in 80s skate videos😅😅😅😅😅😅
nobody gives a shit about ppl who only skate in perfectly built indoor parks.
      that ain't street skating wtf?????

Why is there no 18 and up/18 and down divisions? Or even 16 and up? I just don’t think seeing a child, even a really talented one, skate should be measured the same. Like Ginwoo has ability, but doesn’t have any style yet and he has to tense his whole body or pause and wind up for a big trick. But then again, Momiji is probably 12 or something and has the best style in the women’s division.

I think that’s what makes skateboarding special, everyone is judged against the status quo. Any age, any gender etc, it boils down to can you skate well.

    • @Heavilymoderated
      @Heavilymoderated Před rokem +2

@@bodymechanics9211 ideally. But I think the younger the kid, the more of a pass they get for things like not having style, or pausing on the coping, or huge ugly wind ups. Even hard tricks need to be judged on the finesse they are executed with. That could be allowed for if they had their own division, instead giving the same score to a beautifully executed trick, vs one that was just eeked out

dude Ginwoo is so tense because he knows if he misses tricks, he's gonna have to eat only rice for a month straight, lose his phone, get beaten and have to deal with the embarrassment his father puts on him that he destroyed his whole families honor😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
and I can assure you it's only gonna get worse as he gets older.
his style is the worst I maybe have ever seen, for SURE worst style x games has ever seen.
the kid can't skate switch at all every time he lands Fakie he pivots back to regular w the quickness.
so someone SUPER stuff n tense who looks like a mater from 91 the way he lands everything, can't skate switch, and they're saying he had the best run at x games....
who paid who to make that happen dude, c'mon now.

Nyjah actually worked stuff out from people saying he was too robotic at 16. Jagger was probably “coached.” Yuto had a childhood skate buddy. Makes me wonder about these things. Woo is so different, friendship probably doesn’t come easy.

greetings everyone! great content congrats! really this generation of Japanese skaters are amazing! but I would like you to think about the possibility of making a video telling it, trying to understand, why skaters from Brazil are so consistent, they have been fighting for podiums in the United States with you Americans for decades, and in the great championships in Europe. in brazil skateboarding is the sport most practiced by young people. and if this is possible today it was because of brazilians like Lincoln Ueda, bob burnquist, mineirinho, luan oliveira etc. since the first street league we have brazilians in the final stages. same thing tampa pro . world tournament etc USA Brazil Japan

Its weird how everyone chooses to ignore that it took literally the entire rest of the world, including America, damn near 20 years to even just catch up to Nyjah, because its not like he never wins now, he just doesnt win 5 times in a row now. And thats ignoring all the times he was robbed of the win cause he was a little kid before his domination began (chris cole winning maloof, with like almost half as many tricks, and literally 1 flip grind that left his feet - i was all about Cole, but Nyjah got screwed for years). Has double digits x games golds, god knows how many sls golds, ignoring all the others medals that werent 1st, all while basically raising the bar of gnar skating every time he drops a part, which are all like 10+ min of real footage every time, not these corball 2-3 minute parts. No wonder yall hate him. In the meantime, we got hoefler with 1 part ever, Jagger with 1 part ever, Ginwoo with 0 parts after Nyjah had like 8 by his age, hell at least Yuto's dropping parts not complete slacking in the streets, while still dropping these average 3 minute parts.
