In this reverse Vampire Survivors style game, you play as the Vampire, summoning hordes of minions and trying to survive against the Survivors.
Kill the Survivors to protect your coffins, collect gems to summon more powerful minions, and open chests to unlock and upgrade your units.

Insane y’all cranked this out for a game jam. The art style is vampire survivors-esque, but with a really great unique spin. Great work!

Maybe you could add hotkeys for the units too (if you limit how many different types you can get you can limit the required keys/buttons). Some unit types could spawn more than 1 or maybe an upgrade down the path can unlock spawning multiple.
Why your game has itchi in it? Can't you just make a game without this bullshits?

This could become an amazing game in and of itself, plus, you can't go wrong with an anime waifu mascot. I hope the developer considers making this a full game.

I gave the game a few tries, but I think I broke it on my current run, lol. I went minotaurs and exploding zombies. The minotaurs kept me going until the exploding zombies were well-upgraded. After a few damage upgrades, the exploding zombies get extremely effective at killing the heroes, usually only requiring 1 or 2 zombies to kill a hero (or group of heroes, because it's AoE damage). This by itself basically made it possible to keep going perpetually. But eventually I got so many upgrades on my minotaurs that they too started 1-shotting heroes, while zooming across the screen at ridiculous speeds. I just have a handful of them, and they're now spawn-camping the heroes. I filled the entire screen with slimes, because they only get to move a little bit every few seconds when a new hero spawns and immediately gets killed.
Imaging a raging Bull-man zooming across the map on Mach 1 speed is hilarious.
Trap chests are as good as they are because they completely ignore heroes' attacks. Them being actively better as heroes bunch up more is the icing on top.
only problem being some heros can disarm them and get powerups from them
I love how if a survivor gets to a chest dropped on the ground *they* consume it and get an upgrade!
The chests seem to draw them in but you can't count on them when they get to the coffin because it has greater attraction.

I like how they keep the gag of there being no vampires in vampire (no) survivors
I hope is breeds more like it, the concept is there. It needs better balancing and power scaling. Could be very fun spin on the genre.
I appreciate that when you lose, it's just your vampire in a yamcha death pose
The Yamcha death pose is a nice touch.
Now I have to think of a combination of both games, where one player plays the hero(es) and another player the enemies, and they get either randomly matched or choose a particular opponent.
Man, this game MUST be released on Steam in early access asap! It's basically a tower defense in Vampire Survivor style and personally, I love TD games!
I do too. My current game idea is a turn based tower defense.
I already figured out how it would work. I gave up on my previous idea so back to this one.
You generate income by passing a turn. Meaning the less you micro manage the better.
Thing is I really want to get into micromanaging TD's but that requires speed most of the time. Well now time is frozen. :)
I did refine this idea some more by giving it the setting of a mine. You mine out your path for your towers to attack and so forth.
Goal is to make the best TD ever. Prob not going to happen. If it is at least good I'd be fine. If I want to replay it then it's good imo

Technically speaking someone could reverse this game as well and not get vampire survivors either by making it so you spawn the heroes. That would be reverse reverse reverse bullet hell

I think it’s about practical scaling. The slimes take 6 upgrades to get to one upgrade on say a golem. Maybe3 upgrade to ghoul.
You have to spam slimes just to make money, so even small upgrades are constant incremental upside in a way the other units aren't.
But yeah, upgrading them is usually a lower priority than the one or two units you actually spend your money on.
It will be amazing if the vampire her self to have skills and deploy her in the battlefield, and when she die, she go back to those coffins to rest
I could imagine MULTIPLAYER game like this there one team is survivors other is a vampire, this have great potential as team game

seems interesting, gonna be fun to see how they develop this further. and the chests do distract them but distractions are way less useful when they have their goal right in front of them, i'm not really surprised they chose to attack the coffin over looting a chest since that's also their priority when surrounded by enemies.
Definitely felt like the ghosts going invincible combined with their really low cost helped your first run out a lot.
The Minotaur were like 3-6 times more expensive than the ghosts (did they cost 5 or 10? Lol I don’t recall for whatever reason) and you’d summon a horde of them only for them to get stun locked and killed before they even got to touch the enemies there at the end.
It’s a game jam game though so I definitely don’t expect the balance to be anywhere near good, but the concept is really interesting. I’ve seen “reverse vampire survivor” type games but not ones in real time I don’t think? A lot of them have been more like base defense games where you set up traps to stop invaders. This one kinda gives me RTS vibes.
Interesting twist on the genre, interested to see this developed more!

a way to vouch for more incentive to pick different units is just like in survivors how certain combo's upgrade together, you could do the same with units
also different kinds of gems with some strong units only spawning with higher quality gems that drop more rarely (you could even upgrade the drop chances of higher rarity chances with upgrade paths in the chests)
There's so many different directions and or things you could do with this concept

I decided to do basically nothing but upgrade slimes when I had the choice. I was losing ground until I realized that the trapped chests explosions one tap the heroes, sometimes multiple when they're grouped up, and from that point I pushed them back to their spawn lol. The slimes, despite my best efforts, soon became mostly obsolete because of the insane AoE. Most of them got in groups of 1-3 and mowed through my poor slimes, knocking them back effectively forever making their super upgraded health and damage obsolete, before all blowing up to a trapped chest. I'm sure there that if I keep upgrading the speed, there will come a point where the slimes can outspeed the AoE knockback, but it's gonna take a loooong time.
Anyways I placed as many trapped chests down as I could fit, and if each kills like 1-2 heroes, I'm pretty sure I could do nothing but wait for at least an hour before they managed to kill me.
That looks like a lot of fun

I think this has potential. One thing might be that it doesn't tackle the adventurer scaling well... They get out of hand waaaaaaaaaay to quickly and don't really give that feeling of scaling up. It just feels like a minute in and their already balling out of control. Perhaps rather than the faction getting stronger they individually get stronger by killing enemies. And their scaling is simply through numbers layering over their unique talents. And as they kill your battered and bruised units of higher tiers they get stronger then. Essentially making a unit cost to enemy given ratio where the more they defeat the stronger they become. That way it doesn't feel like an asspull when they can just BRRRR knives. Also I feel like heavy units should drop crystals too. maybe with some high cost. As it is right now the upgrades don't seem to really scale well enough for these enemies and summoning higher tier units doesn't really seem to do much? Like they have some interesting traits, but those traits don't matter when your a minute in and get AOE fuck off explosion units rolling in to start. And your unique units don't got jack shit to start with. As it is right now, it has a good concept and gameplay loop but feels like an exercise in futility a few minutes in.
just played it and i have to say, i really like the playstyle of it, while being simple gameplay wise, it becomes very fun to feel like the villain that makes the enemies appear ( and that villain being a sexy girl, sorry if i sound like a simp ), what i do hope for for this games future is a story mode type of gamemode, but that is up to you developers of this game and i hope for the best in your futures with both this game and your other games. ^^

I would love to see a survivors game with a vs mode like this where one player is the hero and the other player is the villain summoning enemies the whole time

I think the obvious end goal of the game would be protecting the 3rd coffin for X time, probably 30 minutes, until it opens and the vampire waifu emerges, and starts murdering the heroes as she walks outside.
would also be cool if the other two coffins had mini-bosses, that emerged to help if you protect their coffins for 10/20 minutes respectively, and they could either be a super minion that either helps you until they get whittled down, or maybe you get the ability to spawn them for some really high gem cost. Maybe also give you a burst of gems when the coffin gets killed so it doesn't punish you as much for losing them.
I wanted you to use the minotaur so bad early on.
I think you should have invested in the slime/ghost combo for tank/damage and a ranged monster to deal with explosive enemies and ranged ones as well.
This reminds me of the premise of Dungeon Keeper.

It was fun, but it's extremely easy to just use blobs and wisps and go forever. the enemies were dying so fast sometimes i couldn't click on their chest because it was out of screen. stopped at 550k score cause it was just so laggy

i tried to play it but my pc didn´t allow it it wasn´t like a safety thing it just didn´t wanna start the only way i was able to play it was through the web site

Since we have Bullet Hell and Bullet Heaven and here is yet another genre, in which you basically purge the map of the attackers and their weapons, i suggest the term: Bullet Purgatory. 🎉

I just cheesed this game with slimes and minotaur, flood the entire screen with slimes and then send in about 4000 points worth of minotaur, and then keep the field full of slimes, they will all spawn kill enemies.
I just went mostly for the whisps and the minotaur. Tanky minataur and long range whisps.
Ironically, this little game in its current state already has more vampires than the whole of Vampire Survivors and its DLCs :P
I got to 300k+ score with no sight of losing by spamming slimes and minotaur's. Pretty much grab every upgrade for the minotaur and spam slimes to get crystals. The minotaur is OP, it has good HP and DMG and since it can always get it's damage off with charge, when you start to amass a bunch, they just instant kill the enemies. Also since they have decent HP, the 50% boost actually provides a meaningful amount of added HP compared to something like a slime where 50% of it's HP is hardly noticeable.
Good concept. Needs goals and objectives other than high score.
I think the game miss a crucial factors, hotekys.. like from 1 to 9, the menu is not really useful especially in chaoting situation where a normal person will actually use for most part only what have already selected forgetting about other creatures. A spwaner is something that will be also appreciated, perhaps it will cost a bunch but spawn after x seconds some units, i think that should have a separate menu for unlock and select new units so it won't overflap with the chest menu, where you could still get upgrades for the spawner like for spawn time and perhaps life.
Idk if the devs will read this note however i think these are good suggeestion :)
one issue I have with the game is that there seem to be no sound control...

Looks fun but not very balanced :P Obviously because it's a game jam game it's hard to balance properly and considering the limited time it's hard to scrap an idea half way through. But still very neat game :) Nice to see games like this being played by people like you, it inspires me to keep tryna get my game out there too

ghost seems so good both from cost and effectivenes that any other build seems weak, chest way to expensive if it's not explained how to use it effectevely,minotaur not sure, wisps not sure that was some bad luck on upgrades

I "won" the game by getting the minotaur as early as possible and spending every upgrade into it given the chance. I've gotten to the point where my minotaurs cross the entire map in ~1 second (while phasing through any obstacles and even the game world border) and kill any adventurer that dares to spawn before they even show up on the screen.
