  • (7 Jun 1978) Disgraced world soccer cup star Willie Johnston of Scotland arrives in London insisting he never though the two stimulant tablets he took would "pep up" his game. Johnston has been banned from the World Cup and permanently barred from the Scottish national team after traces of the drug Fencanfamin were found in his blood following scotland's 3-1 defeat against Peru. Manager Ron Atkinson is at Heathrow to meet him.

I’ve little sympathy for him, the way he conducted himself at West Brom and Canada afterwards proves he’s no victim. British press and the SFA were to blame for Scotlands disaster in 78.

Top man to Big Ron to meet him at the airport when SFAs Ernie Walker chucked him out & wiped him with his shoe to "protect the good name of scottish football" -hah! Willie took something for a cold that half the team had, if not half the tournament cause it was available over the counter as easily as glucoze tablets or lucozade.!
