James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender have suffered severe back pain from carrying Dark Phoenix on their own
More accurate words have ever been spoken
AwesomeAlex500 I loved Jeans acting stop hating
Sophie was actually pretty good in this
@Surigen 12 that's cool, it's your opinion but she acted better in this than the last 2 seasons of GoT
@Surigen 12 I have no response to that seeing as you are not wrong
Even in a franchise as uneven in quality as this one, Michael Fassbender has never once ceased to impress.
That the fourth comments i see from you you're everywhere thrawn xD
This franchise is awesome idiot
Tizy Man it has ups and downs. *A lot of downs though*
But even in those bad and terrible appalling messy films, Micheal fassbender is great
I love him
Michael Fassbender is great in even the worst of movies.
1:01 Pure acting. No dialogue. Just face. And Fassbender killed it.
BloodyFlowerFilms, I came here to say these exact words. Glad I’m not the only person that felt that way.
Fassbender can just stare at you and you’ll immediately fall for him uwu
BloodyFlowerFilms yeah but he literally gave a full 2 minute monologue tent minutes earlier about how looking for revenge has lead him to ruin. Then he turns around and is just like aight bet
Brian Liu, guess things change when you kill someone’s friend. I found it interesting that he got so upset. He was going to kill her in the previous movie. But I guess timelines change things. Even though I know these films are done, I would’ve loved to have seen Magneto & Mystique in a movie by themselves (even though I’m not a fan of Jennifer Lawrence) just being bad-asses & trying time turn more mutants to their cause.
What a beast right
One of the best parts of Dark Phoenix was seeing Erik's character evolution. In a way, he and Charles switched roles.
Very great choice of words😀
Charles turned into a narcissistic, manipulative prick
I have a change of heart, by Eric in this movie hits in such way.
@@theoutsiderjess4869 is it because of Jane? If i were him i wouldn't let her see her father
There’s more than one good part?
By this point, Erik lost quite more than his "fair share" as he once put it to Charles. He's lost his parents, many fellow mutants he was good friends with, his wife and daughter from Apocalypse and now Raven. All those losses make it hard to see him as a villain or even an anti-hero...just a broken man driven to revenge.
Kevin Phoenix i feel like if i was Erik i would want revenge but at some point along the way i would probably kill myself... it’s just so much pain, it’s so...exhausting , i don’t think i would be able to wake up one day and be happy, after losing his wife and daughter in his arms, what’s the point of living if you’re not happy
Don't forget; the studio also robbed him of his balls. They hit him with the world's biggest nerfhammer for this film.
Logan to Erik: You're like me... you're a *survivor*
His parents are the only loss that wasn't his fault. He would have killed Raven to suit any agenda of his.
@@tek512 Uh, no, 2nd biggest, the nerfhammer for Quicksilver was much worse.
Fassbender and McAvoy literally carried this.
Darth Sidious first class, dofp, apocalypse, dark Phoenix what a trilogy
Afr0 Plays but...but....that’s more than three movies!
Nattasat Suteerawattananonda I know I was being dumbo after he said it
No, the other actors were awesome too idiots
Rishabh Chatterjee they are like Gary chalk and David Kaye
because god forbid they leave Magneto at peace for 1 day.
yes..poor Erik
the 40s,60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s..
the magneto engine needs engineer to look after 24/7
For real, man was never able to catch a break
And Charles always protecting humans, the same thing happened with Transformers
This is the scene that made watching this film worth it. There’s something so beautiful & heartbreaking about Michael Fassbender’s performances. He really knows how to make the audience feel everything he’s going through with his facial expressions. I love him. He’s one of my favorite Actors ❤️
This movie was awesome but Fassbender took it to an higher level
Tizy Man, I agree with the second part of your comment. That might be because I was hoping for more Quicksilver & less fake teen romance/drama but eh. The graphics were pretty 🤷🏾♀️
I didn't feel shit 😂🤪😂😂
@@tizyman7120 awesome? Its garbage
@@MusicayMas. You thought it’s portrayal of trauma was garbage?
The fact that he didn't go completely crazy and rip all the metal around into the air is actually more powerful than if he had.

@Zoxyy ж When he was yelling at Charles in the plane in the first movie he damn near crushed the plane with everyone inside it.
Well, that's Charles. 🤣

"You don't know?"
Three words that most always bare tragedy.

Hank: " I know"
its aweome that at this point magneto is just an unstoppable force and you just point him in the direction you want him to destroy lol
Too bad that it was not something he could even damage.
Against anyone else this might have been true but, sadly, he is up against Dark Phoenix Jean.
1:25 listen to Hank’s voice shake and break cause he’s sharing in Eric’s sorrow. Both of them have known Raven since they were all young people, for decades. Losing one of the First Class is losing a member of their family.
Not to mention they were both in love with her
@@elhuecoeculo i wouldn't say he was ever in love, but he was definitely attracted to her

Glad someone caught that. it's so subtle, but there. There's even a hint of rage in it
@@elhuecoeculo Also, when she was with Manegto only once because he understood her, but Raven was in love with Beast and their relationship was fine, as much as she told Charles, he was the one who made her change her mind so that it wouldn't be
Felt like Fassbender was the only one who didn’t seem to phoning in in terms of performance in this movie. He nailed every single scene he’s in in an otherwise sorely lacking movie
You do a massive disservice to others in the film, especially James McAvoy.
J M McAvoy was fine in this but there were some parts where it felt like he didn’t know how to react in a scene or two, especially one after Jean sacrificed herself at the end and he just lying there looking up with this confused look on his face
Don't agree, so it goes.
J M fair enough
You really thought Sophie Turner had a better performance in Apocalypse?
For some reason , I want this Magneto and Scarlet Witch from the MCU to interact. In perspective , both have lost quiet a lot of loves ones , might be weird but Fassbender and Olsen's character arcs have the best father-daughter dynamic.
Agreed!
I agree 100%
@@rebeccarambo2893 this! love fassbender but he's way too young to have a father dynamic with wanda, he's literally younger than paul bettany LOL
I want all there- Erik, Wanda and Peter.
They'd find a way to ruin his character just like they ruined Xavier.
Better not.
It was genius that they wrote this scene with both Hank & Erik. Since both of them had a strong & intimate bond with Raven in their own ways. The grief, sorrow, & rage they both not only felt, but shared in can be felt through the screen. Especially with Hank saying “I know” to Erik killing Jean - you can tell he was past that hopeful point of no return for Jean.
Fassbender's eyes speaks a thousand words. Full of expressions
This scene felt realistic to me. Fassbender's acting is on point in this one. His expression turning from complete hurt and sorrow to pure anger and hatred once Hank told him about Raven's death. It's a gold performance right there.
But the only thing that I didn't like about this scene was he wanted to kill Jean _after_ telling her a while ago that all the revenge and killing on humans he did back in the past was not worth it. And now he wants to kill again? That just really felt... Illogical to me. But it's just my opinion.
I understand your point, but I also feel like emotions aren't always logical. When people get angry they do things that they sometimes know deep down won't make them feel any better, but it's too difficult to do nothing
That's the point. He knows first hand what it's like to have insatiable bloodlust.
It's not supposed to be logical. He's driven by emotion, rage & sadness.
Tbf his line is a little more ambiguous than that. He said "If I find her I'll kill her.", which I take as him knowing that he would be too enraged to spare her if he did come face to face with her, but that he doesn't want to be in that state and so is hesitant to look for her.
Yea
I love how this has put such a toll on both of them that not only is Erik willing to help hank find her, Hank doesn’t even mind that Erik is going to kill her. It’s like they both realize they fucked up and now they need to put her down by any means necessary.
A few minutes earlier Magneto says: "I do not believe in revenge". Later: "If I find her I'll kill her". Such a shame the script sucks when actors like Fassbender is trying to give a better performance than the film actually deserves.
Agree completely!!
Nothing sucks about that. It scans perfectly.
Also they seem to have forgotten that he had no problem killing her on movie prior
Reckless Pixels prior movie*
@@fielalmanga lol yeah grammar and logic left the building there... Its actually not the previous film. Its the film before the previous

Well it wasn’t made to be a grand finale if that is what you expected.

@@mhead1117 Do you think it’s theme of PSTD was executed poorly?
Just look at this superb acting! His emotions were perfectly portrayed. He didn't talk for about a whole minute and his delivery of that last line...I felt the restrained anger. This is why I love his performances, there wasn't a need for words, yet you could really feel it just by looking at his face. The heartbreak, disbelief and devastation, damn. When he took a second to collect himself away from Hank and that tear...Jesus.
He's really made me see Magneto in a new light from when I was little. Before he was just this bad guy who was angry at everything, then the old movies came and I learnt some of his reasons and he became someone who wanted to prevent history repeating. Now this guy's just come along and showed Magneto as someone with this determination that is as strong as the metal he controls all because he is just a broken man who has lost too much. Its humanised him more, I know that's due to writing too but it's the performance that brings it together. The good thing is I can see him as Ian McKellen's Magneto and that's amazing.
"You're always sorry, Charles. And there's always a speech. But nobody cares anymore."
Sums up fox's x-men
And after the profs speech magneto gave a sarcastic smirk and said to the other mutants " What did I just tell you"
We all need to petition to Disney to keep fassbender and McAvoy in their roles.
And to stop rebooting all the classics with gender and race swaps.
He HAS to play Doctor Doom in the MCU. Come on guys, I can't be the only one who thinks he would nail it

Fassbender is honestly the only reason I rewatch any scenes from this movie.
As drawn out as these movies were, I’m glad they actually gave Erik the character development he deserved in this one. In any other movie since first class he would have reacted completely differently, much more in line with his “destroy everything kill everyone” kind of explosion we had seen a few times before. Because this was the last one they allowed Erik to actually change and grow and be an interesting character again and it was probably the most compelling part of the whole movie.
Thanks so much for uploading this scene!

Erik and Hank had their differences in the previous movies but here, they are in the same boat.

Michael Fassbender is such an incredible actor
Michael Fassbender truly is amazing. Can't wait to see literally any movie with him in it. Dude is S tier when it comes to acting. The emotion, the change of tone, the facial expressions, everything is just so damn real.
Whenever I watch a X-men movie it always feels like a party is about to start but then it doesn’t
Wow magneto loved mystic not even in a romantic way but as a person
Dude I can’t blame Erik for being the man that he is… some may call him a monster… and it’s not even within stones throw to call him a product of his own environment… he was always justified in his actions or reactions to the cards life has dealt him, even when trying so hard to live a life of solitude in peace…. Always something has to tear his heart out and drive him mad again…. He always knew he couldn’t be left in peace, which is why it drove him to madness and rage… he was never inherently evil, not sure he was ever evil at all… he was a man who knew the world for what it was in the worst ways imaginable… he was a child, a son, a husband, and a father.. and then in just a flash he broke the boundaries of what it means to be a man… he gave the ultimate sacrifice… his name was magneto
Magneto : Okay i turn to evil again
I miss michael fassbender as magneto, he diffantely deserves to be in the mcu as magneto again, that would be a dream
The easy way would be put flashback scenes of Erik and Mystique, but it's way more effective see the emotional reaction in Fassbender eyes. You clearly could see he love her.
Micheal Fassbend / Erik League Magneto
Nicholas Hoult / Henry Phillips Beaat
Logan and Erik has gone through so much pain and losses, to see them still hold up is what I love about these two
1:00 to 1:10 jesus fucking christ Fassbender's acting is so good. At least he showed actual emotion unlike Charles.
the way Eric reacted (wanting to kill Jean) was out of character. I get that he loved Raven, but given the conversation they had earlier, it’s clear that she’s not doing it intentionally. she came to him afraid and seeking help. and wasn’t she pretty much an exact reflection of Eric in Apocalypse? both of them were desperately trying to run away from their previous mistakes. so shouldn’t Eric sympathize with her, and realize that going after her would make her snap and turn evil, just like how people going after him in Apocalypse made him snap and turn evil? and didn’t he just say that he was over revenge in the previous scene?
Theman Joe I still think it makes sense. He’s very passionate. He had broken throught past things but never dreamed losing Raven. It’s like Iron Man in Civil War, it didnt matter if the kill was the person’s fault or not, the pain of grief called for revenge.
Cezar Alves but I think Iron Man in Civil War was more believable because Bucky was right there at the moment he found out that he killed his parents. so his anger lashed out at that moment. and finding out that Cap hid it from him probably fuelled his rage. Jean wasn’t actually there the moment Eric found out she killed Raven. he should have some more time to rationally think about it. also, Tony in Civil War didn’t have a scene where he said that he was done getting revenge. Eric in Dark Phoenix did.
@@thedon7082 The guy has spent decades of his post-Holocaust life chasing vengeance for this reason or other. It was thanks in large part to Raven that he finally pulled himself out of this vicious cycle. When someone so important to turning his life around is murdered, the emotions felt at that moment make it dangerously easy for him to fall back into the old mentality and thirst for vengeance he struggled so hard with, something he never quite managed to overcome alone, without Raven.
Also, he was a complete dick to Raven from Day One.
Yeh he loved her so much that he tried to kill her in DOFP...totally out of his character..
Fassbeender one of the most underrated actor today.
Erik-If I find her I will kill her
Charles - Oh no, he is trying to get himself killed.
Jean-Ok, let him try.
Irfan Alddin lmao comic jean would be the one smoking magneto into space. She can kill him in seconds
@Irfan Alddinhuh, she nearly killed him ? He never stood a chance against the Phoenix
@Irfan Alddin lmao she would've turned Magneto into dust in a milisecond, get real, even Vuk an alien and Charles a telepath could do nothing to contain the Phoenix force, Erik is less powerful than these two so she went easy on him when she destroyed his helmet, actually not sure how he even survived that.
Lol at the losers here. Jean is nothing without the phoenix force. Magneto/Erik would rip her to shreds in a fight/combat. And I don't mean just physically but with their powers at it as well, we are talking about their powers going at it. Erik wins.
Now imagine the phoenix force had chosen Erik instead. Anyway its all fiction. The phoenix can choose who it wants as it's host. In the comics they always portray the phoenix with Jean. Now if they switch that up and have the phoenix with Erik instead, that would be an unstoppable force and way overpowered. Erik being that powerful with that broken mind, he would be ridiculously overpowered and dangerously powerful.
U cant hate erik the man has had an entire lifetime of pain and suffering he has literally lost everyone he loves including his own family .😊

It's starting to scare me how much Fassbender looks like a young Erik albeit not much like a young Sir Ian McKellen.
Both lost their dear ones several times...Magneto and Wolverine should have been best pals....or may be that reason kept them away from each other
Don't get me wrong magneto is my fav supervillain. Here he is being a hypocite seeking revenge for jean killing mystique when in the last movie he legit tried to kill mystique.
Can Fassbender play Magneto in the MCU? Please and thanks
Magneto in this film “ yo Jean killings for dumbasses”
1 scene later:” Jean ima phuckin kill ya”
He just simply said that it didn’t bring him peace. It’s a callback to First Class and Erik wants to protect people from Jean.
X-TRA THICC still stupid
Hope I look as good as magneto when I’m in my late 50’s.
At this point in time they should have dyed Micheal's ( Erik's) hair white or silver, salt and pepper, what ever. That would have made it that much more cooler. Because he's supposed to be old now, or older. It's those little details I was hoping for. Still a great movie. I love the X-Men. I know everyone hates it, because it's not the same as Claremont and Byrnes story, but it still works. It is what it is as they say. 👍🏻💯
Michael Fassbender as magneto forever...can he endure anything else? Poor guy id be a villain too going through what he has...i think hes being generate most of times not fully giving in to his guilty pleasures because of charles but...man i love him
Michael Fassbender put more effort into making Magneto look sad than James McAvoy put in making Charles look sad.
Would've preferred if Eric had actually trained and joined with Jean
I like how all mutants are honest, all the time
in xmen series you can understand why magneto became the man he is in xmen and x2.This dude kept losing everything and everyone he loved.
I really wish they hadn’t wasted their time making a shared universe with the 2000’s movies.
They should’ve done a faithful adaptation with the actual first class, Cyclops, Jean, etc.
Same casting, better writing, more in-depth character building
i feel like it was a loss that we don't see him tear the remains of that helicopter to pieces in rage
Fassbender really save the franchise
From a psychotic tyrant king to an assassin to a super villain
Fassbender can do it all
To a sympathic anti-villain.
I’d like to see him do a comedy actually where he plays a really dry-humored character who serves up snark on a platter
It's funny how Erik had more emotion, despair and grief for Raven's death than Charles who didn't even bat an eye and he SAW Raven dying.
One guy (Charles) grew up with her, mentored her and was his only friend, parent and companion and yet when Raven dies, he feels nothing.
The other is a guy (Erik) who met her later in life, had some sexual tension with her, adored her and always encouraged her to accept who she was and he was almost inconsable when he heard Raven had died.
Speaks volumes. To me, Charles was a hyporcritcal asshole in almost all the movies
When he shed the tear, I remember the scene where charles shows him how to access his full power, followijg the this timeline he got a boost from apocalypse, he its like fully accessing that boost. But even that is no match for the phoenix force.
Magneto went full Hattori Hanzo in this scene.
Dark phoenix will be a way better film if there is a scene where magneto learns that quicksilver is his son
Wolverine amd magneto have alot in common in these movies at least. You'd think they'd get along more.
I think erik care about raven more than charles
It so surprised when Magneto found out about Mystique's death. After all, Magneto was a close friend to Mystique. But Magneto promise that he will avenge her death
Yet he never finds out that Peter is his son.

As a huge X-Men fan, I was angry that Raven was given such a huge role while Storm and Rogue were reduced to cameos. It should have been the other way around.
It's because Storm or Rogue aren't played by the overrated Jennifer Lawrence.
I love how everyone in the comments agrees Michael Fassbender was the perfect actor for this role.
I get that Erik cared about Raven. But he had no right to try to take down Jean for accidentally killing her. He had tried and failed to kill Raven in the last movie. There are 3 things that I don't like about this movie is that #1 Jean supposedly doesn't survive killing the Aliens and #2 Charles Xavier retired and #3 the school wasn't renamed into Raven's school. I think that Jean should have been able to survive and learn how to control and use her powers for good. Also it doesn't make sense that she wouldn't survive because she is still at Xavier's school when Logan comes back to his own body from the past in Days of Future Past. Secondly Charles could've helped a lot more people if he hadn't of retired but idk maybe he was just taking a break from teaching and trying to figure his life out. Thirdly the school should have been renamed as Raven's school because she died trying to help someone who needed it.
This is one of the best scenes in this movie that doesn’t work well
